She has earned that baying mob, though, I think. Although it's a shame her boos are even more boosome than Craig's...

Oh yeah, far be it from me to pass judgment on a mob. FWIW, I'd probably be booing with them.

(Incidentally, 'nesh, you do realise one year you're finally gonna crack and you'll be attending the evictions yourself, don't you?)

Ganesh
20:09 / 12.08.05
Nahhh, I suspect attending the evictions in person would be a somewhat frustrating affair, what with the not-tough-enough questioning, and insufficient/excessive boos. And I'd have nowhere to rest my iBook.

Such a professional!

GAH! Do they usually announce the winner right at the end, or do they talk to them for a few minutes afterwards? I figure I have to leave my house by twenty past to get to work on time...

Davina: "Why were you so convinced you'd win, Makosi?"

Makosi: "Because I've never lost anything in my life."

Christ, the crowd's so angry it's almost scary. Even Davina's looking a bit cowed.

The crowd's chanting, "LI-AR! LI-AR! LI-AR!"

It's all looking reminiscent of a particular Christmas in Romania a few years back...

It's like a panto or the good old days of wrestling with Giant Haystacks and Big Daddy.

I do feel sorry for Makosi though, even though she's set herself up for a fall.

Crowd: "OFF! OFF! OFF! OFF! OFF! OFF! OFF!"

Davina wisely cutting it reeeally short...

That shouting is beginning to smell nastily of racism..

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK

It is kind of hard not to feel some degree of empathy when you're watching someone getting so much shit... but you should also remember that there was a fairly easy way of avoiding being in that position in the first place! And in this case it's certainly well-deserved.

Ganesh
20:17 / 12.08.05
See now, I don't understand why Davina didn't have this sort of interview with Craig. This is deeply, deeply squirmy.

If you'll excuse my mixed metaphors.

Cube- I can't really make out what they're saying. Probably wouldn't surprise me, though. Shame, really, when there are so many GOOD reasons to be shouting.

Did you hear something racist? I can't make out many of the words.

Nothing, really, but perhaps I just don't like black people up on stage being shouted at. It just gave me a shiver that not so long ago something like that could have ended up as a lynching.

Mourne Kransky

It feels really awkward just watching it. Can't think how she feels being subjected to it. Not what she expected! In the early weeks she was a clear favourite too. But then came Poolgate... The BB audience always punishes the women for sex, disproportionately. Reflecting the wider world, I suppose.

Ganesh
20:24 / 12.08.05
I agree with you, Cube, but to avoid booing someone's booable behaviour because they're black would be more racist, wouldn't it?

While there may well be a racist ('uppity black bitch - who does she think she is?') component, I tend to attribute it more to misogyny - female housemates always attract more vitriol than male. In this case, though, I think Makosi's systematically alienated most of those groups who might've originally liked/voted for her. I think it's the lack of people cheering that's as conspicuous as the booing, if not more so.

Ah, well. Eugene got half the cash and Makosi didn't get any. That's not a bad result.

Off to work now. Play nice.

Ah well, Anthony it is.

Feels a bit of a duhh choice - a return to EveryBloke - but I'm not too disappointed, and I suspect Eugene isn't either. He's got the money, he's got the cheers (jarring contrast after Makosi's exit), he'd probably weep half his body water out if he won.

Not too bad, really. Just hope Craig doesn't take the credit...

Oh for heaven's sakes - Makosi wasn't booed because she is black; she was booed because she was manipulative and lied on more than one occasion. Ditto Saskia, Maxwell, Sam...

Fandabidozey! Eugene's da man!

I agree with Stoatie. It's kind of nice that for once two people have won. And Anthony deserves something for being patient with Graig.

to avoid booing someone's booable behaviour because they're black would be more racist, wouldn't it?

It would. I think. Had the lynching parallel popped into anyone's head there (and I doubt it), I would think that might be a good reason not to get caught up in a group hate. I dislike booing in general, though. And shouting of any kind. I'm quite quiet.

Crying Eugene is still an O'Leary Double-Clutch, innit? Even on the highlights.

With regard to Makosi, all the 'yeah, but she was a great game-player' stuff snarks me up a little. She's patently not a great game-player, because her g*m*pl*n fails to appreciate/consider the fact that the public will only tolerate a certain amount of gratuitous dishonesty, no matter how stylish its execution.

Anthony's interview feels a bit superfluous. I mean, it's not like we're going to get any particular insights into the House, life, the Craigiverse or anything, is it?

After the genuinely touching Euginterview, Davina seems a tad bored.

Ahhhhh... the tear-jerking recap montage. Nicely-done, and some excellent moments there, but not as good as last year's. It didn't make me cry, anyway, possibly because Anthony - for all that he deserved to be rewarded for Craig-tested saintpatience - just wasn't that interesting. It was never going to be emotional.

Standout interview this evening, however, was Makosi's, simply because it shocked. It must've been the most negative exit interview ever. Xoc said 'what about Adele', but Adele, not being in the final three, was interviewed inside the studio, surrounded by cheering friends and family (if not her same-sex partner). Makosi was interviewed outside, and the heckling crowd got increasingly ugly. Nasty. Deserved, I think, but nasty.
