Mr Morph;
What you're possibly missing out on is that some of the nightmare scenarios you describe are pretty much exactly the kind of things some of us would like to see happen.
Not to speak for anyone else here ( well I can't, really, ) I've always wanted a pet polar bear since I read that book, I suppose we all know the one - I'd call the thing, I don't know, 'David' ? 'Ian' ? 'Keith' ? It doesn't matter. The point is, that if the polar ice caps keep moving south, those beasts are going to more available as 'cool' things, ironically, to have round the house. Round my way, a lot of the residents seem to have pitbulls, and such like, they think they're, y'know 'hard' but god would they feel silly in the face of fifteen feet of demented white gristle, I like to think.
