Right. Christ knows why, On Leave, formerly Te, formerly the Cosmic Neo Fireman, you've seen fit to post about this in two threads if you're really not that wound up about it. Heaven forbid that I should suggest that you mean "I am precisely wound up about it enough to clutter the board with my moaning but not enough to formulate any kind of unflimsy explanation for my jabberings". So let's try and talk this one through.
What point were you trying to make with the animated gif you posted? I know you've said that you find it hilarious (and maybe you'll explain that one to me as well, I never really got it even before it was a several-years-old-internet-meme-you-nicked-off-other-boards), but you must have also had some kind of opinion on the comment by Haus which you quoted when you posted it. He said:
I'm not entirely sure either why we keep citing groups full of straight white men as bold opposites to the straight white maleness of modern indie.
...And you replied by posting an animated gif of a kid mouthing "That's racist!"
Were you implying that the fact that groups full of straight white men were being cited as bold opposites to the straight white maleness of modern indie was due in some part to racism, or had a racist element, conscious or otherwise? Or were you using that gif as I've more commonly seen it used before - i.e., to mock and dismiss what Haus was saying, implying that he was making a spurious accusation of racism?
Ideally I wouldn't have actually seen your original post in the influence thread deleted - I'd rather you'd been asked to explain yourself there, although I can understand that this may have been unlikely to happen and might have dragged the thread off course. |
