I was tempted to post something like "Ha, this thread is a joke. People here are gonna have your liver for this, man!", but I though the best atitude was to try and ignore it until it vanished to the bottom of the page.

Spam a lot?

I like the fine wine and cheese bit - it's actually quite rare for somebody to say that not following their path might actually make people great. However. I don't know - the poster's put a lot of effort into the post, but the request to be contacted and the LJ link does suggest to me that ze is posting this to a number of places and doesn't expect to have time to check up on all of them. Teeth-hurting aside, is that what other people are getting? Does that count as spam? We've got a situation a bit like Caleigh here - a poster who has been around for a while but only posted 40-odd times. Can anyone recall hir other contributions? Valuable/not valuable?

Dead Megatron brought that thread up in a thread in policy but not the mod requests one, suggesting that we delete it or lock it.

Which brings me nicely onto why I'm here. Nothing to do with DM but I wish to complain about the messiness. Everythings running over into everything else and I can't find where people said things because they're not in the right threads. Policy reads like someone chopped up all the thread and then cellotaped them back together again in the wrong order.

It upsets my sensibilities.

It was in the Smap thread, which I though it was very clearly. I wasn't even aware the poster was already around here before it.

Smap is actually the way super-cool kids refer to spam nowadays, but I'm sure you knew that

Lock it or delete? Hell no, too much fun to be had. On the subject of previous form, here's an example "Changing a paradigm is just as easy as changing clothes". Ze's been around a while and contributes to things, but unless we're deleting stuff for being too TOPY or discordian or including the number 23 there's no grounds. And that would be a big can of worms, eh.

Barbannoy for me is assuming people know who you're talking about when you say Lisa told me she had a dream. chaoflux23, who the hell is Lisa? What the fuck is an Occidentalist? What the blinking flip are you on about?

Fight it MC! Leave your body and come to my astral JLA satellite and we can have astral wine and cheese and discuss who will draw us! I reckon we'd be good Quitely characters, or maybe Bond to make us even sexier.

I find that thread works best if you pretend it's in Games & Gameplay, and is the write-up for a new Deus Ex-style game about TEH MAJIKS.

I think you guys are just jealous. Jealous I tells you. Here is someone that's obviously wanked to a lot of comics and RAW, and ze seems to have gotten results, unlike the rest of us who're just left with calluses, a nasty wrist-crampand comics that're worth significantly less than what we paid for them (at least, if your aim is anything like mine).

I think they deserve some respect just for typing that mahoosive thread in the first place.

On second thoughs... naaah.

Well yes, and being a Psychic Yoof doesn't automatically mean you are a member of a l33t dream warrior team. But chaoflux23 is.

I want a place to write how fucking frustrating it is that when I refer to my femaleness because I think it is relevant in a thread about the body size of models in spain, I then have this thrown back in my face a la this little gem:

But indeed, thanks to your special female reading skills,

Not only that, but it's posted by a poster whom I know to be a heterosexual male even though he is currently posting under a female name. This shouldn't be an issue, but because of this it truly is.

I want a place to write about it, but the women-friendly thread is locked and the reason it is locked is because I proposed it should be!

I'm so angry. I don't have special female reading skills. I never said I did. Just because I said I was female doesn't mean YOU GET TO USE THAT AGAINST ME, because it is not and never will be a criticsm or a useful tool for sarcasm. If you have an argument, then fine, but don't use my gender against me just because you're not 'winning', especially when the viewpoint you are coming from is fairly dubious anyway.

So, you like your models to be thin? You hide behind posts about healthy body size but actually you are OUTRAGED that unhealthily thin people could be banned from modelling, aren't you?

And why are you so interested in banning obese people? I keep asking you why you're bringing it up but you won't reply. Is it so you don't have to look at them?

Wobbily people! Bad people!

You're the sort of person who perpetuates outrageous images of women just because you prefer thinness to the norm. And don't mention the word fat. What kind of a world do you live in where these views are OK, poster X?

You're demanding apologies from me, and I am complying. I apologise for 'upsetting', but then you say it should be for 'annoying'.

But where's mine? I'd like an apology from you because you are using my gender in a sarcastic and offensive way? But will I get it? Will I fuck.

I agree Olulabelle. That sentence pushed my annoyance buttons and I'd only stopped in briefly before going to bed. I'd respond in more detail but the whole bed thing (plus I fear I have drank too much to be coherent) means I cannot do my annoyance justice.

The Barbelith Reunion thread.

Hey! Good to see you! Nice to know that you're clearly reading the board every day but can't be fucking bothered to post to it unless it suddenly becomes all about you!

Hmmm. You're assuming that the reunion was driven by people readiong Barbelith, rather than, say, a group of people who were on Barbelith but did not read it any more deciding to come back having discussed it through another social network. It may be my advancing years, but I'm inclined to put up with some joycore ego-stroking if people stay around and say interesting things.

And we should care... why? Because the rich and famous decided to grace an ailing Barbelith with their presence?

Y'know, I actually valued the past contributions from most of those who've now descended upon us from on high and yeah, it'd be nice to have some departed members posting again. But this stinks of egomania. I'M BACK threads are never good. This is worse.

Why not unlock it, Lula? Seriously - it's not really something I want to be involved in, for obvious reasons, but I know that Saturn's Nod and xk were talking about how to make the thread viable, and I'd be happy to lend a shoulder wherever useful. Or start a new one, with a firmer request for men not to post in the topic summary, with suggestions as to how they can respond if they wish to, by copying and pasting content into another thread. Shouldn't be impossible... although TBH I think this discussion could fit as well into "Feminism 101".

But other people are posting in the reunion thread as well, Randy. Like Kali, Flyboy, Suedey...

Personally, I don't mind a bit of exuberance. If they start posting again, then well and good, and if they don't then the thread will slip down the page pretty quickly.

Haus: although TBH I think this discussion could fit as well into "Feminism 101".

It would be cool see some action in the F101 thread again. I can never think about anything specific enough to bring up, though, that hasn't already come up yet.

I'm mostly barbannoyed with not coming up with any new threads lately, personally, myself-like. And that I've not been straying from the Comics much lately, even though I read most of the fora.

I want a place to write about it ...

How about the thread where the discussion started? I'm not seeing the percentage in taking it elsewhere. If you're in a fight with somebody at the Rose And Crown, say, it seems only germane to finish it there (or at least outside, in the car park,) rather than going to one of the other pubs in town to talk about it.

In particular, I'm guessing a move to the 'women-friendly' thread, were it still active, would be of only limited value, seeing as 'poster x,' however objectionable hir thoughts might or not be, wouldn't really be able to express them, as such, without the hovering threat of being accused of a sinister form of exhibitionism.

If Poster X were tragically afflicted by the claws of a lobster where one might expect the soft, flexible fingers of a man, and were thus unable to hold down ctrl and c at the same time, this might be the least of his problems. For starters, how would he wank?

Alex, I didn't want to derail the thread even further than I had but I still had more to say about it.

.trampetunia, the heterosexual reference was because I think it's relevant on some level to what a man thinks about 'idealised' women.
