Oh God, no. He'd be on telly every Christmas.

But Stoatie, imagine the joy unleashed when he strapped on his Strat and ripped through 'Rockin' In The Free World' or 'Roll Over Beethoven' or even 'Ace Of Spsdes'.

If in "the Catholic Church" one includes liberation theologists and Jesuit priests, he's um, pretty reactionary, I'd say. He thinks the death penalty is bad, yeah, and generally thinks war ins't a good thing, but he's effectively stopped any communication on the question of women's abilities to hold positions of respect in the church, and everything else auto mentioned. So, yeah...

Anybody want to try for new lyrics to the "Pope-y Pokey"?

You put your catheter in, you pull the catheter out
You put the plastic tube in, and you shake it all about...

Catheter?

I always though they used a biro... or is that just in emergencies when they haven't got the proper stuff to hand? (Anyway, you'd have to remember to cover up the little hole in the siude, I imagine, or it wouldn't work very well. You could probably get a half-decent tune out of the thing if you driled a few more, though. Like the Ave Maria or something. Yeah, that'd be cool.)

The ave maria on a biro with extra holes in it?

Gratia plena!, Stoat.

I seriously thought he was talking about the pope.

Hmm, catheters. Never having seen (let alone used) one I assumed they were a device akin to a funnel. But I just finished reading Chuck Palahniuk's 'Diary' and the main character's catheter was mentioned quite a lot, as was its ... ahem ... insertion.

alas
00:08 / 26.02.05
I will stand by my use of catheter, just because I assume he is getting some kind of IV treatement: a catheter is a plastic tube--I was thinking that's all that was required--but it's pretty much always used for fluids--not just urine, although urinary catheters are common, but IV bags are connected to the arm via a catheter. Etc. But the plastic tube for a tracheotomy is apparenlty not appropriately called a catheter. Still, I imagine the poor poperoo must be feeling pretty tired of having the holy vessel all poked and prodded. He must feel like a flute.

That's what it's all about, really.

Hi everyone, sorry about yesterday's gag - is this the Pope that's under discussion ?

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK

Indeed it is, indeed it is.

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK

Hay, if the Pope actually DID turn out to be a man-eating lizzzzzzard from space, would that make him a Papal People Eater?

...I'll get me robes...

I can't wait 'till it's time to appoint the new one.

Pope Idol will be the best Reality TV that's ever been on.

I can see Peter Snow leaping up and down like a thing possesed in front a ludicrous CG backdrop as Cardinals are lined up behind him like a deck of Top Trumps.

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK
02:11 / 26.02.05
Oh that would be so cool.

I'm wondering whether it would be poor taste to submit my application while he's still alive... don't want to seem too eager, do I?

Well I think the vatican's official statement was that the pope was serene.
Read from that what you may...

It's all too easy to picture, Pope Top Trumps.

What would be the stat cats though ?

I'm guessing Saintliness, Misdirected Anger, and Ability To Come Up Smiling After A Big Night Out.

I thought much the same, but it turned out I couldn't afford the surgery.

Stoatie just told me that the theme music to the TV series 'Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em' is the morse code for the phrase 'some mothers do ave em'. I think that's brilliant.

Good evening everyone!

in other news, someone who managed to be a world-changing human being without hundreds of years of history and obscene pomp and ceremony has died (i.e. peter benenson, founder of amnesty international).

he's lived a long time, but i hate to see him go out when he surely couldn't help but be troubled by the most powerful nation on earth turning the geneva convention into an optional extra etc... there was a time amnesty seemed to be eradicating the last strongholds of the past. now it has to contend with an oncoming future scientifically designed by well-educated and wealthy barbarians. ugh.

i stayed in to continue with my script.
what about you losers?

What's your script about though, Autopilot D ?

If it's a treatment for say the new Lethal Weapon movie, I don't know if what you're standing on is really, y'know, the moral high ground exactly.

I've never been on eBay before, how does it work? It sounds like a rip-off to me, unless opening bids are generally really, really low.
