I've gone and had a look at the wikipedia article and of course it says nothing of the sort now, so we can't quote the text. I know it's only a stupid thing, but huge image files annoy me.

There is no solution now, other than to leave the big image in, is there?

Sure. Put link tags around the image tags, with the URL of the image. If you're feeling fancy, you can put a title tag in to give you an instructional balloon when you mouse over, like so:

Here's how the code looks:

<a href="http://b.imagehost.org/0033/beadle_9.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://b.imagehost.org/0033/beadle_9.jpg" width="500" title="Click to embiggen in a new window"></a>

Cut and paste that, and Bob, as they say, he is your uncle.

Cheers, Jack- I've put a request in now. Let's see if I've managed not to cock it up.

That's really groovy. Thanks for the code Jack.

You could always find the original text in the history of the Wiki page, but that may be a pain as well. I don't know if you can link to a previous version of a page.
Also, another thanks for the code, Jack.

Can someone put (spoilers) in the Lost/Caution thread in FTV&T?

And then change the thread title to "Lust, Caution: Spoilers"?

That would be an excellent suitname.

Actually, I thought it had to do with that show Lost, but then I thought that was a reality show until recently, so I am perhaps a bit more out of touch than others here.

Okay, I've just put in a request to lock the Barbannoy thread as the whole Petergate issue is just going round and round in an unprofitable doing nobody any good and now Glenn Medeiros has popped up to take a pop at Haus.

I've disagreed the lock, because... well, because I don't think there's any point in locking it, and I am eager to discourage unnecessary uses of the lock function. There may be a case for locking it just because it's getting a bit long at some point, and on occasion - I think the "Barbe-feud" thread, maybe - very long threads have bust the board (I think the Q and A thread is probably a case in point). As it is, though - it's a thread in Conversation, and at least keeping it there will hopefully avoid running battles breaking out across the board. A degree of Mathletics is probably inevitable in any such discussion, and can largely be used as a springboard for learning, I hope.

Temple mods- and Quantum in particular- how do you feel about the Scientology thread? For the last several million pages it's been more like Switchboard material, being about the Anonymous v Co$ war. I'm not bothered one way or the other which forum I post in about the thing, but I do feel a bit uncomfortable chucking all these links and things in and being a contributory factor to its having gone WAY off-topic (kinda, insofar as being Templey stuff), without knowing whether the Temple actually appreciates that.

Basically, is it cool if we have our Anon/Co$ commentary in your forum, or would you rather move it to Switchboard?

Well it could go in the Switchboard, but we can has Temple discussion that is about something with real and concrete impact on society.

Nah, that's cool. I just didn't want to be the guy who was demanding punk be played at someone else's indie-rock party is all. Thank you.

(Analogy completely random, I hasten to add).

Yes I think it's nice in the Temple because it's a topical thing that fits right in for once.

Hi guys, this isn't really a moderation request (although it might be) but I didn't know where else to post it. I just replied to a post in the Computer help needed thread and noticed that there seems to be a bunch of random text beneath the form used for entering your reply. Upon further inspection, I think this might be related to the 'hyphen hypen greater than' sequence of characters in this post which I think might be breaking a comment tag in the HTML.

If it's an issue, perhaps one of the conversation mods might wish to change Tsuga's post. If not, and noone can reproduce it (I'm using Firefox Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.8.1.12) Gecko/20080201 Firefox/2.0.0.12) then call me a fool and ignore me.

Yes I think it's nice in the Temple because it's a topical thing that fits right in for once.

And also on the upside, I'm finally fulfilling my 2007 New Year's Resolution to post more in the Temple...

weird...when trying to go to the second page of "recently updated threads", I get instead some 2007 page of Policy & Help threads.

que?

That's a simple one: there is no second page of "recently updated threads." Never has been.

See here.

Who chose to move Glenn's thread to Creation?

Jesus, it's in Creation now?

I just disagreed a move to lock it because I thought it had been ghosted when I didn't see it in Conversation... and clicked "Reference" and it showed up in greys.

Was perturbed when it was still in the "recently updated" page... but that makes sense now.

I'll be relocking, then.

Hey, could a FTV&T mod maybe change the title of this thread to just 'The Wire - Season 4'? -There's a dedicated Season 3 thread in the forum now, and it seems like this one could do perfectly well *if* there's still anyone here that wants to talk about season 4 from hereon in.

The Blade of the Immortal thread in Film, TV and Theatre needs an abstract. Someone ought to take care of that.

Tuna, you write the summary, I'll moderate to have it taken up. I know nothing of Blade and have no intention of educating myself in order to write one.
