So, can I go ahead and delete his crap from the wiki, then? That's probably the bit that's used to organise his little 'resource'.

Please explain this.

Ill, delete everything you can find just in case it does work. I think someone has PM'd Zoemancer, but if not I'm sure Tom will to explain the (I hope) banning.

Well, there's an index of all his threads, here.

(I've raised this privately before, when I transferred this content across from the old wiki.)

Although, of course, it occurs that you could now use the same index to find and delete his posts, if that's what you're doing...

That's an index of Fetch threads, not zoemancer threads, right? Hmm. None of those threads seem at all offensive unless you're a number-phobic like me, but I've only just checked a few at random. I don't know if someone else might find them useful -- some people seem to have put some work into their posts there.

I couldn't help myself from posting a lot of "fuck you"s to zoemancer's thread.... Apologies, mods, for blowing my top. I didn't even make sense in one post.

Sorry grant, I thought that index might be part of what Illmatic and Trouser seemed to be objecting to - the Fetch still referring to barbelith as an online resource for his 'work'. It does seem a slightly strange situation, if he is banned - if you don't want this guy using barbelith bandwidth to post any more of his stuff, then should barbelith continue to, well, host his old stuff for him? Let alone have our wiki as a means of organising that material for him.

You're right about that. I wonder what LVX(whoever) would say about dissolving that page, though. It's a bit outside my Temple ventures.

Hmm.

Somebody who's more into kabbalah is going to have to tell me how useful it is.

So scorched earth policy then? Or does that just pertain to hir offensive postings?

It really doesnt matter - the thread was dead when it hit the water. It was never going to develop. It's to your credit as a person that your reaction was rage, and to Barbelith's advantage that it was shown.

I like a bit of Quabbala, but I don't find those threads by the Fetch at all useful or helpful. Basically because I don't trust the source. It's his own special brand of "Isisian" and presumably non-Jewish Quabala, and therefore I'm suspicious of it. I'm uncertain to what extent it belongs in "The Creation", if you know what I mean. It always just seemed like some nutjob's ramblings that didn't have any relevence or bearing on anything outside of his mental illness. If the decision were mine, I wouldnt hesitate to delete all of that stuff from the wiki and from barbelith - as we're basically providing a hosting service to someone openly propigating a Nazi occult ideology and are therefore wholly complicit in the spreading of vile ideas. The repulsive ideology might exist in a seperate room from the dubious number crunching, but they are located in the same building and that building should be wiped off the map.

If someone kills the wiki, I'll put in deletions for the actual threads. Gypsy Lantern nailed it.

Agreed. I have no problem seeing The Fetch's stuff go. (IIRC he cross-posted it to various different places anyway, so anybody gagging for a bit of numerical lunacy can find it elsewhere.)

I'm on the wiki then.

Ah, you all realize that stuff on the wiki never vanishes from the history pages, right? By editing the page & removing links to it, it essentially becomes like a ghost thread here, only easier to get to via the history links.

Well, deleting individual posts would be more effective than deleting threads if you're actually serious about doing this thing. Never mind about google, at the moment a deleted thread can still be linked to directly, and a wikipage that's nothing more than an index of links can always be recovered and copied and used as an index, whatever form we edit it into.

Which is to say, all Fetch would have to do is host the *index* somewhere other than barbelith, and it'd still work for him perfectly well. Since there's an index, and since it's on the wiki, then it makes no difference, effectively, whether you now 'delete' those threads or not.

It'll take longer to delete his posts individually, but I think it's the only way to get it off barbelith, or, rather, to put that content somewhere where it's inaccessable. If that's what you want to do. I can't make sense of any of his threads, so I can't really do anything to assess whether it'll be worth the effort of getting rid of them. But that's one of the questions here.

Another Templey question, now that you're here. There seems to be a standard on the wiki that the practice is spelled "Qaballah" or "Quaballah."

I don't like that spelling and never have. My *impression* was that it was there because of some kind of numerological/metaphysical significance to those letters as opposed to the more standard spellings like "Kabbalah" or "Cabbala," and that came from the Isisian stuff. I don't know if this is true. Is it? And if so, can we change the spelling to something resembling actual Hebrew Romanization?

That written before I realized Bedhead was here -- the "you" being Temple folks like Gypsy Lantern and Mister Carnival.

I tend to use the spelling Quabala (or Qabala) myself as that spelling is most frequently used in western ceremonial magic texts. As I understand it, the western occult interpretations of Jewish mysticism are significantly different from Kabbalah as practiced by your average Rabbi. So it does seem to have become fairly common usage in western occult texts to favour the spelling Qabala in order to differentiate from the more Orthodox Hebrew spellings of Cabala or Kabbalah.

Don't know Grant.

I've deleted all the threads I could find, hopefully this will make them harder to access in the future. It'll prevent anyone bumping them at least. Even if it doesn't - I just think it sends the right message i.e. "fuck off".

I'm not going to go through all his individual posts right now, but if someone else wants to be my guest.

In that case, I'll deal with my neurosis on my own time. Good to know, though.

Am I the only one who feels like foaming at the mouth at the extraneous "u" in Q(u)abala?

Probably. Carry on, sorry I rotted.

Just to let people know - and I know this is a bit laughable in light of my usual on-again, off-again presence on the board, but it's a slightly tricky time atm - that I'm going to be offline for a week. Back on 1 or 2 April.

So (a) I won't be around to mod the Headshop or the Gathering (what's new...) and (b) any invitations to the pub in my name over the next week won't, in fact, be from me.

what is to be done (if anything) with "http://www.barbelith.com/topic/24259">this thread? The poster seems unacquainted with Barbelith's conventions of going into a bit more detail and elaborating further beyond "I can't get enough of it" I was thinking of asking her a few friendly questions to encourage further discussion but I don't know if the thread has any life in it.

Corrected link here, by the way.

As to the question at hand: Mm. xxsarahxx posts only intermittently, but is already notorious for vague, substance-free threadstarters. All I can think is that she's very young.

That being said: having seen "Walk the Line" quite recently, I think there is a discussion to be had about it. I'll see if I can get things rolling...

Can the thread get moved to The Temple? It seems to have run it's course in Convo. A shift might pick it up again.
