sorry, maybe Funny isn't the right word.
to get specific, I guess: it's a (possibly very bad) habit I picked up from my mom and sister - my mom will come home and say "GUESS WHAT!" and my sister will reply "you're pregnant" without looking up from her book. because, you know, ha ha, that'd be CRAZY.
but my roommate it turns out IS pregnant, and not in an Oh Boy, I'm pregnant! kind of way but in a What the hell was I thinking, I can't take care of a baby kind of way. And then a coworker was too, and was pretty upset - What, can you tell? Is everyone talking about it behind my back? I haven't told anyone yet, it's a secret! kind of way. Made me feel pretty awful, though it took a while to sort out that it was an accident.
(Actually, with the coworker, it was a different joke - I was making fun of our employer for expecting people to work on their time off and imitated our supervisor asking someone to reschedule their due date around a meeting, and it turned out to sort of be true.)
sorry if I've spoken clumsily and offended. guess that was kind of the point of the post - that I've been clumsy and offensive. maybe I should just keep my mouth shut altogether. |
