bear's link's got some broken HTML in it. Try this.

You're not my father!!!

I've tried to fix the error looks like there was an extra break in there at the end.

Trailer looks ok, nerdy glee from the Lord Vader part. Who's the guy with the weird face then?

Tion Medon. A goodie, apparently.

Didn't like the trailer - in fact the more I think about it, the less I like - it just flashes up stuff that is supposed to get us all a lather, but doesn't indicate anything about the film (okay, I know you're supposed to know that its dark, and its a bridge between our raped childhood, and molisting adulthood or something like that, but it was just flat flashes of CGI).

Then again, the last trailer that actually impressed me was the trailer for the Thing PS2 game - now that blended the past and the future perfectly!

Woah, Benny. Firstly, it's a teaser trailer so there will only be promo/money shots in it. Secondly, of course it's designed to get you in a lather. I mean, what the shit, is that not what a trailer - especially a TEASER trailer - is made for? To make you excited.

Mission accomplished for me.

Bear
13:47 / 05.11.04
I like the really cheesy head turning moments after Darth appears, various shots of the characters turning around looking suprised

13:57 / 05.11.04
Headshots and CGI never lather me up, Triplets! Maybe I'm just to jadded, maybe the first two were the straws that broke the camels back, but I just thought, yep, looks as crap as EP.II.

I hope I'm wrong, I really, really do - but nothing in the trailer made me think otherwise.

Suedey! SHOT FOR MEAT!
14:24 / 05.11.04
Oh god, I had a total "FUCK YEAH!" reaction to that that I really wasn't expecting.

Suedey! SHOT FOR MEAT!
14:28 / 05.11.04
Although I sense it'll probably be quite flawed, it looks suitably epic in a way the last one wasn't really. I hope it is, anyway.

Benny the Ball
14:54 / 05.11.04
Actually, I do like the bit with the big ships passing each other really close and shotting at each other...

But that's it.

ONLY NICE THINGS
15:11 / 05.11.04
I was interested by the fact that the bloke saying "Lord Vader", presumably Ian McDiarmid, had decided to do it in a comedy Rab C Nesbitt voice, then thought better of it for "Rise".

16:04 / 05.11.04
Benny, there's a shit load more story in this trailer than in the TPM teaser. Admit it, you spunked for that one didn't you?

I think the issue here isn't quality of trailer but jaded SW head. Jaded SW head I can understand.

16:37 / 05.11.04
my only complaint is Vader's wussy little arms. Look at those things!

That Vader helmet is HUGE, makes everything look way too small.

For me, seeing Sidious/Palpatine/Emperor swinging a lightsaber and cackling was an automatic "FUCK YEAH!"

(oh yeah, that swearing was for Bobossboy.)

CGI? Well, yeah, especially when it's two big hulking starships fighting each other battleship style. That's killer.

Well, despite myself I think that was a pretty intelligent teaser. It really does the job of linking the trilogies together and, as Lucas has always claimed he wanted to, giving the sense that the six films are the story of Anakin Skywalker's rise and fall.

I could take or leave lava and Wookiees, and I could certainly leave stupid fanboy "woah" moments like Yoda being bad-ass again, or Palpatine with a saber. But I like the feeling of a saga winding-up, reaching its beginning and conclusion at once... the feeling of epic perspective, that this is all the lead-in to where we entered the story in 1977.

kovacs sez: this will do for now.

Palpatine looked a little weird though, like Gollum with a lightsabre.

that's what happens when you rely too much on CGI -

Palpatine with a saber? I didn't see that.

Or did I... is he supposed to be fang tooth?

That's Snaggletooth from the New Hope cantina. Fans begged for his return in Episode III and clamored that he would look superkewl with a Sith saber. Lucas felt it would suit his vision for the concluding chapter of the saga to tie this episode neatly in with the Mos Eisley scenes in Episode IV, and give the two trilogies added continuity.

Snaggletooth: Dark Sith of Ban'Do'rr will be a 12-part maxiseries from Dark Horse, appearing in April 2005 and exploring the background behind this most enigmatic and exciting of "new" characters! First episode has a guest appearance by Hammerhead... now known as Darth Aevil!

Well I really enjoyed it... but then, as has been noted before, my critical faculties tend to take a holiday when confronted with new Star Wars stuff. Even if the movie's goatspunk I probably won't notice for a few months.

It was okay, like the teaser trailer for episode one, not giving you that much by way of an idea where the story goes, it just works on the principle that the very idea of another Star Wars film sets your spunk turbines to full. As it doesn't I'm waiting for the proper trailer...

Yep, I am that sucker. It's behavioural conditioning - I can't help myself.

*laughs loud and hard at the Snaggletooth-as-Sith miniseries and Hammerhead as supporting character post*

I stumbled into it seeing the Incredibles. Oh man, the trailer does look tasty. I'll have to admidt, tieing it all up and delivering major fanboy details may be the best parts of this film, but there's enough of them and enough waiting for me that even if the rest of it sucks I probably won't even notice the wooden acting. Cause really, I doubt Lucus can best the movies in the fan's heads, but I strongly suspect this will still be a fun ride if nothing else.

Finally saw the trailer for III, looks ok...

Wookies! Yay!

I wonder if Hayden will suck really bad again.

Anyone else find it weird that James Earl Jones' "Yes, Master" line was delivered in a straight American accent as opposed to the faux-British or at least 'very proper' accent he had as Darth in the first 3? It just sounded so American and pedestrian.

Or is it just cause I'm an actor that I notice crap like that?

Matthew Fluxington
11:10 / 10.12.04
Jones probably didn't give a fuck. He was probably counting the cash in the voiceover booth.

Benny the Ball
11:32 / 10.12.04
Yeah, the voice over stuff he did for the re-issues sounded so stupidly out of place also. Empire had a couple of lines dropped in that stank partly because the original was better (a fantastically terse and hard 'Bring my shuttle' becomes the stupid, rambling 'alert the mother ship that daddy's on his way home' or something inane).

apparently Kevin Smith is confirmed as being part of the much-rumored Star Wars TV series Lucas wants to develop after Ep. III. No kidding.

here's an article from Kevin Smith's site, View Askew:

More From The IESB On Star Wars TV...

We'd been holding off on further press on this story hoping that a big announcement or at least some clarity would come in, but it does indeed seem that there's no movement happening on this deal for the moment. The good folks over at IESB were good enough to post a nice update containing what looks to be an inside scoop from Skywalker Ranch regarding the project. Here she be:

I guess the fans are very excited about Kevin's involvement on the TV show. The reaction up here has also been very good. There has been some questioning lately trying to find out who your source was but they just can't keep this under wraps.

There has been plenty of plans for future re-assignments and plenty of moving around inside the "Ranch", they have already started making room for the offices that will handle the TV show. I am not quite sure if the bulk of the work will be done here or if they will be done over at the Presidio. Smith is definitely the top choice and I have been told that he has been staying very busy with negotiations before he starts up with his Clerks sequel. There was some up here that claim that he was spotted up here a few weeks ago, I didn't see him.

The TV show will go full speed as soon as Sith is released by that time Kevin should be done with most of his work on Clerks 2. Your scooper that sent you the info on Hamill is right, they are hoping to get Mark to come back and be like the mentor of the new Jedi Knights or something. I am trying to pin point the time frame and if they are expected to keep the EU continuity. I personally doubt that EU storylines will be explored, they might be mentioned but from what I understand Kevin and George want fresh new storylines. I was told about a possible twist to show, even though it's to take place after Return of the Jedi a few ILMers have been talking about showing some flashback sequences via Holocron- type technology.

I was also told that the public should expect an official announcement within a few months. Part of not releasing any information on the show is because News Corp. [20th Century Fox] is hoping to be involved with the distribution of the show. There has also been some rumblings coming from the Sci-Fi Channel hoping to land the domestic distribution but I doubt that will happen. One other thing, Sith is turning up nicely.

# Artoo is an action hero in this one. He's Arnold Schwarzenegger this time. He's really tough and beats up a few battle droids. And, he saves the heroes again many times." - George Lucas

# Artoo gets the action hero role for one particular part of the movie, early on, and it's played for fun. - PH

# Artoo joins in the fight on the bridge of the Trade Federation cruiser. - Official Site

This doesn't sound good.

This doesn't sound good.

no, no, it sounds terrible. the worst reports i've heard involve Artoo using some kind of oil-slick-shooting gadget to cause some kind of slapstick battle droid slipping-and-sliding battle, and kicking another droid in the crotch with his middle leg.

Well, similar misgivings could have been brought to bear on rumors about Yoda's fight scene. Some people thought that was absolute garbage. I was too busy standing on the shoulders of the guy in the seat in front of me, jumping up and down and going 'WOOOOOOOO HOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!". So, YMMV.

It probably won't any better or worse than the 3PO clunkers in Clones, none of which detracted from the awesome closing battle sequences for even a second.

Damn you!

I get my cynicism up to a reasonable level, I almost don't care anymore, and then I HAVE to click on the pictures and then...

I'm counting the days.

Lucas has me by the balls. Someone save me.
