you can listen to my band on Swedish radio! A short interview and live performance.

I am a slacker. I should have posted this link sooner, becasue you can only listen to it for one more day, but here it is:

OK, the link is this: SR Goteborg

You then have to click on the option to listen to 11:00 - 11:30, then sit through the News and The Ark (Sweden's Eurovision entry--yeah!). We start about 5 minutes in, I think.

The spouse's album is online thanks to a certain 'Lither's efforts to wrangle him onto their label! (You know who you are but I'm not sure if I'm supposed to tell people about your label or not?)

Hoo triple-rah, XK/Breeches. I was listening to the End of the World mix today and thinking "fuck, I wonder if there's a whole Sublinear album somewhere" and speak of the Devil. Downloading, burning, listening as I go to sleep. Awesome!

I'm currently thinking Bloodworms is my new fav. Turns out I'm the intern who leaked the album early as the official launch is a few days off. HAHAHAHAH.

1000 strips.

Seriously.

1000 STRIPS!

And that's not counting the 600+ in the archives from Man-Man Version One.

Admire our tenacity, if nothing else.

I am going to do something else creative, at some point, soon, and I may well post about it on here. And when I do that, you may well swoon and say "Ohh, Johnny, you are clever."

PIMPAGE!

(This will probably also appear in the Musicals thread on Film, TV and Theatre - apologies to those who go there too)

I've written a musical - well, the book and lyrics. My friend Luke did the music, because the only instrument I can play is a kazoo, and that quite badly.

It's called All I Want For Christmas and is on in a showcase of new musicals called Perfect Pitch at the Upstairs at the Gatehouse Theatre in Highgate, London, on Weds 17, Thu 18 and Sun 21 October (4pm matinee).

It's about a man who hires an escort girl to pose as his girlfriend when he goes home to his parents' for Christmas, and the website is here:

More Pimpage!

This Friday (28th), at Ryans Bar in the Stoke Newington, London's gypsyfolkrockabilly pirates, The Woodsmen play, and are ably supported by Barbelith favorites The Owlls, who will no doubt raise up some merry fucking chaos in a pagan-polka circus style. only 3 quid, and i know half of bleeding stokey post here....

Johnny, I think you actually have to do a thing rather than post about maybe doing a thing, in order to get any kind of validation in this thread!

I've got a new essay up online here:

http://www.key64.net/content/post/738-Live-and-Let-Die

It's called "Live & Let Die: Fears and misconceptions about Voodoo". I performed it as a talk at Treadwells last month, and it's also going to be in the Barbelith Temple Journal, so think of this as a sneak preview and advance publicity for that book as well.

I wasn't looking for validation, just some cheap laughs. And maybe some light hearted abuse.

I'm gonna go and read Gypsy's essay now.

I've written a musical - well, the book and lyrics.

Holy awesome! Will it be recorded for those of us on this side of the bestial Pond?

Enjoying the essay, Gypsy, but you need to revisit the HTML and format your subheads -- it looks like you have unfinished sentences floating around at the ends of some paragraphs.

Perhaps validation was the wrong word. But I am very tired and was only teasing. Sorry.

Gypsy Lantern
13:36 / 26.09.07
Yes, they haven't picked up a couple of my subheads and instead included them in the body of the text, so it looks like unfinished sentences. I emailed them this morning to point that out, but there's not much more I can do about it, being a contributor and therefore not having access to the HTML myself.

Panwapa Island

Sesame Workshop's new interactive online program, PANWAPA, has finally
been launched worldwide!

Please go to: www.panwapa.com

"Panwapa is a floating island that travels the five oceans of the
world. In the Tshiluba language, spoken in the Democratic Republic of
the Congo, the word "Panwapa" means "here on this earth." So Panwapa
Island is here -- but also everywhere, and its inhabitants are simply
"of the earth" -- citizens of the global community."

The interactive online program content is filled with games,
activities, and videos which teaches kids to be good world citizens
who take responsibility for their own actions. Panwapa also teaches
geography, and exposes kids to world languages and cultural diversity.

I was the project's production designer. I had the pleasure of
creating the sets, illustrations, and graphic icons for the program
along with
my incredibly gifted creative team who helped build the world of
Panwapa (formerly known as World Wide Kids).

Okay it's a family involvement thing, but you know I figure my sibling's efforts are worth some plugging especially for the wee ones. It's very cool and I'm very proud of my sibling.

A long shot, for sure.

If you ever find yourself in Oakville, Ontario on a Sunday night, head on over to The Moonshine Cafe, where my Dad and I host a song circle. There's usually 15-20 of us, taking turns playing and singing. Always a good time.

I'll also be recording a demo soon. All acoustic originals. If anyone's interested.

I just wanted to show people these pretty bracteates and sword beads. I got to see some of these IRL recently, and they are even shinier than the photos. Not sure how many people here are going to be in the market for a bracteate, but they're groovy and I thought some of you would dig them.

From what I remember of Oakville, Captain Zoom, I am certain that it could only benefit from a song circle. Keep us apprised of your demo!

Nice work, Aunt Beast!

Nice one, Mordant.

My own plug is for a gig I'll be part of tomorrow night (sorry about the short notice; I just found out I'll be doing a bit more than just DJing at the show) - here's a link to the Upcoming Gigs thread in Radio & Music.

I've spent the past few months subbing and generally helping out with the folks at this new magazine:

Trespass Magazine

It's still in it's infancy and we're sorting out distribution and the like, but it's getting good reactions from those in the know.

If you like a bit of art, photography, poetry and the like, all governed by an outsider ethos, then we might be right up your street...

MattS said, re my new musical:

I say to you - yes! I think one of the songs is still downloadable from the website, but if you want to hear more there is also an Original Cast Recording (10 songs - it's only a one-act) for one British fiver, or $10. Maybe a bit more with P&P. Or I could just email you some MP3s. PM me and let me know if you're interested in this once-in-a-lifetime offer.
