We're The Great Old Ones Now
04:48 / 23.02.09
My paperback's out - and since the whole thing is a deranged ninja/lovestory/ontological crisis with asswhupping, apocalypses and monsters, it has a certain Barbelith feel to it.

Be interested to know what y'all think.

Sounds like a really decent read! I just bought a copy on Amazon, so I'll be giving it a read.

I just recently started a new blog where I'm attempting to finish a painting per day... I've been running a little behind lately, but I still manage to post four or five a week.
I call it the RabidEyeMovement.

We're The Great Old Ones Now

It must be like someone's or it wouldn't be any fun. However, it's not like mine - at least, I hope it isn't - because there are still around six billion people left on Earth in the world I live in. Maybe I'm a little behind the narrative curve...

Oh! grant recommended yr book to me a while ago and I completely forgot about it. Will pick it up.

Duly ordered from Amazon and much anticipated, Nick! My only other book experience from the 'lith was Icelander, by Dusto, and it was really, really good. I expect that this will continue the streak.

For those who are wondering what the cover of a new comics adaptation of Captain Blood written by Yours Truly might look like, it might look something like this:

Eep. That's practically in 3-D. I flinched when I got to the tip of the sword...

Nice.

This Sunday
14:33 / 26.02.09
Yay! to Captain Blood adaptations and all the other fine new projects! I will be dropping some money on these, yes.

I just want to mention that we're in the final days of collecting for FEM Volume 2, so if you want to submit something, now would be a good time (or, wait for Volume 3, but where's the fun in that?). We have a nice history of being 'lither heavy going and I'd like to keep it that way, because I know how talented so many people here are.

Of course, the first release is still available as a pdf from the site (or the linky image below).

Wow, my congratulations to all you who've just birthed something. Hmm, title seems familiar Nick, I must have seen it advertised or reviewed somewhere without linking it to you. Anyway, it wouldn't be wrong of me to read it for the asswhupping bits, would it? ;>

The asswhupping is a crucial and integral part of the whole artistic work. Honest, guv...

Don't worry, old chap. There aren't many people left on Barbelith, and it's not exactly the hotbed of literary criticism it once was.

I got a call at 9.10 this morning and am now unexpectedly doing a reading at Forest Gate library this evening, if anyone is local and fancies a drink afterwards. I don't think I've ever been there before so a native with a working knowledge of the pubs would be immensely useful.

It's a reading from Tales of the Decongested Volume 2 which starts at 6pm, probably going on until 7.30ish. My story is only one in an anthology of many and there will be four other readers (I'm on last because I have to get there from Wood Green), and I'm almost certain it's free; I can't imagine a library charging for this sort of thing.

The address of the library is 4-20 Wood Grange Road, London E7 0QH. If you do happen to mooch along and wonder which one I am, my name's Katy and my story's called Eyes on the Horizon. I will be (am) wearing a green silk sequinned top and a white angora shrug. And trousers, obviously, which are important.

I'll be a big fan, unconditionally, of anyone who shows up to listen to 'Lavender Bunny And The Big Brother House' Tues 21st, in Proud in Camden, 7 onwards. Obviously, I'm ashamed, but Lavender Bunny is the best of me, really, and will sail us all gently into the next world.

Plus, there'll be drinks, and a few other (possibly better-written) tales - how can anyone turn this down?! It's a Tuesday, after all. Self-harm in front of the telly has it's place, of course, but why not avoid it?

Express your committment to the future by showing up - it's quite a hip venue, and you won't feel dreadful in the morning. You'll feel, you know, alive!

Well, that seemed to go over okay. Interestingly, there were quite a few indie/post-emo/post-whatever-it's-called-these-days kids in the Liars' League crowd, which was a new thing. Younger, London-based board members of a literary bent, who are on the pull (this, I gather, used to be everyone, back in the salad days) could do worse than show up at the next evening, details at www.liarsleague.com!

Ginge, I'd come to the Roundhouse thing but can't see any mention of the Hot Dots in the link. Jacksons Lane instead maybe?
