I wish I knew, Meme! If only we could check out the 'Mods in Your Area' feature, I'm sure that would tell us.

More joy: Angel Radio - the local nostalgia and novelty radio station for
pensioners in the Havant area - can now be heard on the web!

It's the station for OAPS staffed and run by OAPs (mostly). You will hear nothing on there that wasn't produced between 1900 and 1959.

On the down side there is a surfeit of Bing Flipping Crosby and Doris Great In Small Amounts Day on certain progs, but on the happy side you've got novelty songs from the 1900s and vintage radio serials from the 30s. And they do requests - they played a rollicking version of "I've Got a Lovely Bunch of Coconuts" for me the other night.

Pardon me for bragging but....

I have been nominated and now elected to the Sex Worker's Committee of Stella's here in Montreal. A nationally and internationally recognized community organization that works to improve the rights of sex workers, remove stigmatization and discrimination, and bring about the decriminalization of sex work in Canada.

I had some stiff competition, but I actually won by a landslide. Almost everyone voted for me, including the director of the Coalition for the Right's of Sex Worker's, an organization that Stella's works closely with, and the director of Stella's herself!

It is so nice to be around loving, supportive people, who actually wish to build you up and not tear you down all the blasted time.

WE ARE THE LOVERS OF THE WORLD!

Strix- Hurrah!!!

It only just occurred to me, cos it's hard to tell when you actually ARE happy (it's so much easier to moan about when you're not), but the last wee has just been immensely happy-giving. Avant-garde Fiesta in Germany, and all for free (well, with some lifting)... getting back to London and seeing friends I'd missed while I was away... then just a nice quiet night out at Tango-Mango's house with whisky and music... I've made a conscious effort to concentrate on good things. And more seem to be happening. It's... nice.

That should have said "week" rather than "wee" in that last post, but I'm not gonna change it, cos my last wee was also happy-giving. Well, I didn't need a piss afterwards, anyway.

Thanks Stoats!

I took my son to the meeting as well, since my sitter crapped out on me, (I think the books on my shelf scared her). He was a little gentleman the whole entire meeting! Unbelievably well-behaved for someone who has just turned five years old TODAY!

YAY! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY LITTLE MAN!

Okay. Living in this new flat block for uni. Downstairs is a bar with TV. On said TV is football. Nothing unusual there. However. We have- I think- Iranian TV, possibly Turkish (hopefully one or two of our Iranian members could clear that up).

The thing is, there's this *ace* Ford Focus advert. You'll just have to imagine it, but, like, there's this guy in the full Keffiyah(?) and robes driving this car in the desert. First, he swerves to avoid these camels who glare at him reproachfully.

Then he starts butting this poor little chap who's driving a watermelon cart, and then he makes a big point of running over each escaping melon. The whole time he's got this sort of Fonzy "Ayyyy" look on his face.

All this is set to "Ride Of The Valkyries".

Squee.

I've got a drum! Finally! Now I can be a proper Shaman™.

Well, all right, it's not a proper drum. It's a kiddie tambourine I took the bells off. But it fulfilled my criteria of making a good noise, costing tiny moneys, and being small enough to fit in the box where I keep the rest of my mnadjykl kit. It's pretty rough-looking so I'll need to decorate it, but I want to play with it a bit first, get to know it.

I'll probably make a rattle out of the bells.

I am very happy about all this.

I've just got these fucking amazing biscuits.

No really. They're from the lake district. Cookies as big as a...a small plate. And the raisins and the honey and the chocolate. It's like...it's like fellating a teddy bear.

Sorry. I've just got these fucking amazing biscuits.

The complete Ballad of Halo Jones, unexpectedly subject to an extra half off it's clearance price. So, the whole lot, in hardback, for just over the cost of two issues of the Ultimates. Winner.

I hope that's not stoats as in Gardener's question time (Stoats, eating my koi carp, how to kill? etc).

What's the difference between a stoat and a ferret, anyway? I'm not sure and knowing would give me a happy.

A weasel is weaselley recognised and a stoat is stoatally different, of course.

Er... excuse me.

A ferret is a domesticated polecat, another type of mustelid which is larger than a stoat. Ferrets are considerably larger. Also I don't think they turn white in winter, which stoats that live in subarctic conditions do (hence ermine).

You'd think they'd have learnt not to do that by now..

"Hmmm... Gerald, Gerald and Gerald* turned white, and yet despite the advantages of avoiding airborne predators they appear to have been killed and skinned. On the whole I think I'll take my chances with the owls.

(*All small mammals are called Gerald)

Making me happy is that all small mammals are called Gerald. Also, I just found a tenner in the back pocket of my trews.

A weird one this. Just had mind-numbingly boring shift at 'work'.

Team all trying not to stare out of windows, supervisor in check out confessing that she spent the last 20mins figuring out what shade to paint her hallway.

THAT dull.

A Happy coz it's the first one in 4 1/2 years. (ok,so I only work 1 day a week max, but still)

On ferrets - I stroked a ferret at the weekend. Chap had one on a lead in Covent Garden and it wuffled my knees and then got lost in my coat lining. Three minutes of that has made me happy for days, and I'm wondering how happy I might be if I had a ferret about my person all the time. Possibly in a specially-adapted concealed pocket.
