Happiness. Dancing like a chicken. Hugs in changing rooms. Being around the same person for 9 hours a day, and not being sick of her.

Bloody hell Olula, you are in a very happy mood tonight aren’t you? You’re left little happy post-it notes all over Barbelith. It’s actually even making grouchy old me turn happy. Ta!

In just under three weeks I will be swimming in the warm ocean in Goa.

Perhaps scuba-diving, perhaps waterskiing.

Perhaps just lying around, floating in warm water, chatting for hours with my sis and bro.

I love long-haul flights, I get ridiculously excited. And haven't doen anything long-haul in nearly 5 years.

Woooo-haaaaaahh.

I have the warm fuzzies because my recent bout of flirting with the cute coworker has earned me many goofy, crooked smiles, a couple of emails, and laughs galore. I think I might end up with a date to the holiday party after all....

I've also managed to put a dent in my xmas shopping, and have sent all but two of my international xmas packages/letters. whew! I can feel the holiday related stress lifting. slightly.

first happy post of the year!
i just wanted to share that i got promoted. while i am not that excited about the job, i am excited about: the fact that i will be able to pee whenever i want to (as i am now a receptionist, i have to find someone to cover for me whenever i feel that urge), being able to tell wherever i apply for a job next that i was promoted within a year, and my over 10% raise! yee-ha!
also, i am on new medication for my various mental problems. i didn't really realize how depressed i was until this med started kicking in. i am sooo funny now, which is how i have always identified, as a funny person, but now i realize i haven't been in a while. PRAYING MANTIS HAS HER MOJO BACK!! yeah!

You having your mojo back has given me a happy, Praying Mantis because I would have said from what I've read that you had it already, so now you must be ROCKING!

I just want to jump up and down and yell:

I got a fucking job interview.

Which is groovy. So will be up in the city for it next week. There might be post interview drinkies if anyone's interested.

I have to lecture on Roland Barthes at the end of the month.

Oooh yeah, baby. They pay me. Money. To talk about Barthes - with whom, as I may have mentioned, I am head-over-heels in love - for an hour to a captive audience. Also, writing the lecture is something I can legimately do instead of writing my PhD. Life doesn't get any better than this.

On the downside, I am now practising delivering my lecture and I am slightly confused and disappointed to discover that I only sound like Alan Rickman in my head.

ONLY NICE THINGS
20:30 / 12.01.04
Deva, you sound exactly like Alan Rickman. Promise.

I am happy, for I am all toasty-warm in Falke socks, flannel pyjams and my gigantic Rocha dressing gown, *in the living room*. I am all wireless! Yes I am. At least, I think I am, that is I think I have enabled WEP. It says "enabled" on my network settings anyway. Would any kind strangers like to try to wardrive me, just to check?

Ah, life is good. Life is warm and toasty. Now I can Interweb in rooms with heating. Well, unless it all goes titsup the next time I turn off my computer, like last time...

The back of my notebook tells me things.

Such as: 24 sheets of paper make 1 quire; 20 quires make 1 ream.

Also: in apothocaries' weights, 20 grains make 1 scruple.

Joy!

Mwwwhahaha

Just found out that there's wrestling every month in Croydon - Oh yes this will be the year of wrestling!

Croydon every month, FWA event next month and WWE in Aberdeen in March...

Next month in Croydon they have American stars (pushing it a bit) Luna and Gangrel...

The only negative about all this is that I only found out about it today and last night I missed Jake "The Snake" Roberts.

This place in Croydon is cool, Derren Brown next month too....

Deva, you sound exactly like Alan Rickman. Promise.

There will be no foolish naturalizing ideology and silly discursivity in this class. As such, I don't expect many of you to appreciate the subtle science and exact art that is Reading Roland Barthes; however, for those... select few... who possess... the predisposition**... I shall teach you how to bewitch the mind and ensnare the senses; how to bottle myth, brew pleasure, and even put a stopper in The Author.

**cue the Smiths' Handsome Devil: I think I can help you get through your exams

Happy again now.

i am really happy, and happy that i have someplace to write about why i'm happy!
ever have those people from yr past that keep popping in yr mind from time to time? especially people you were kinda involved with, let's say, and you wonder what they're up to? ever get bored at work and google their name? i just did that and i found this guy who i've always kinda regretted not sleeping with. he was a super funny guy, and i just found out that he was a finalist in a nationwide comedy search sponsored by a cable channel, and has his own website, and has moved to l.a. i'm really super happy for him! and he's still hot.

I just found an apple! I was scrounging around in my kitchen and there was a box on a shelf so I got it down and inside was a very handsome shiny red apple. I think it must have been left there by either my mum or my sister in law when they were round earlier. But it’s such a sweet thing to do, to hide an apple thinking how nice it would be to find it.

It was a great apple, by the way. Very tasty and crunchy. I just spilled boiling coffee all over my hand and I’m *still* in a good mood, such is the all-conquering power of happiness.

Your going to be in big trouble when your housemate/wife/husband/girlfriend/boyfriend/dog comes home looking for their shiny red apple....Where the fucks my apple, that's what they'll shout and you'll feel really guilty and have to go buy them two apples!

Or... You don't happen to be the prettiest in the land do you?

"Who's been sleeping in MYYYYYY apple?" Do you see? Bear / Bed / discovery of stolen food? Do you see? etc. Sorry.

I was given a big happy by a Pink Lady the other day - a really lovely brand of apple, genuinely pink(ish) and very crisp. Currently available in the Co-op. Very nice.

Also: rediscovered the joy of wearing down a block of water-colour paint, the chalky kids stuff. You can erode the outer edges away, leaving a geological sort of thing in the middle. Smashing.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
04:28 / 06.02.04
Happy things today? That I get to go to bed with a really sweet boyfriend. And I got to watch Jean-Luc Goddard's "Alphaville" in my sci-fi class. The subtitles were even legible. Buying a comic book with Seth Fisher art. Drinking beer and wine before said class. The fact that when I look over to my right and I get to see that very sweet boyfriend fiddling with his printer. And that's not a euphemism.

I was half way through one of those mini packets of biscuits that live in a wicker basket in the middle of the table at meetings, and I thought: "Mmm, this is nice, what's it called?" So I looked at the packet expecting something like "Raisin Crunch" or "Auntie Pickles' Olde Oat Munchers", but no! They were called:

Fruit Shrewsbury Biscuits

Fruit Shrewsbury! What a fantastic name, eh? I'm going to buy or make a ton of these just so I can invite people in and say:

"Please, do come in, Mrs Privett. Can I offer you a Fruit Shrewsbury?"

I have been made happy this week by buying wild boar salami off an extraordinarly fat Italian man in Spitafields market. Later on that day, I was happier by the eating of said salami. Next time I might spring from the wild boar AND TRUFFLE salmit. I've no idea what a truffle tastes like but I bet it's nice. I was also made very happy by going to see the film "One Armed Swordsman" at the NFT with Gypsy Lantern, and getting a nice PM off Riz telling me enjoyed my tape. But most of all I have been made happy by moving into NEW FLAT with my g/f!! No more house sharing for me!!!

Last weekend I got to start the restoration of a 1958 Chevrolet Bel-Air. I love to work on old cars and put them right again. This is going to be, at the very least, a year long project. So, I have that to look forward to all year!

I made Diana Wynne Jones smile.

Ooh yeah. Boo-yaka. Et cetera.

(I was going on about how her books had got me thru a bad depression on a DWJ list I've recently joined - and someone passed my email on to her, and reported back to me about the smiling.)

Hee hee. Diana Wynne Jones. Smiling. Smiling because of Deva. Life doesn't get better than this.

Deva, that's impossibly wicked!

My happy is this: In a little javascript window when entering an Ashtanga Yoga site it says: Namaste. Welcome to Indian Yoga. Have peace and health. Happy Surfing.

How cute is that?

Normally those windows say things like: You have not entered your correct telephone code and you are therefore thick and stupid. Go back and do it again.

My five year old sister has recently acquired the habit of singing along (as well as she can) to my favourite songs (even though these are in English, a language she can't even speak) while dancing around in my room, which pretty much immediately gets a smile on my face, as well as a couple of dorkish giggles out of me
