A very personal one, but have just arrived back from my first BiCon.

Lost count of how many utterly life-changing moments I've had this weekend. Met loads of lovely people, had zillions of assumptions/prejudices revealed and trashed. Zillions of brain cells stimulated by fascinating workshops, then sadly lost in a sea of alcohol

Discovered that we really are sexier and prettier than everyone else

Found a tribe/family(something that's very 'not me'!) and am still sooooo buzzing on this...

After a failed attempt at Holland, and a non-renewable terminated lease contract I endured a couple of months of no personal apt. Now, I have, and will move in this Friday. Double yayyyy! I found a smashing, delicate table at more than half the cost (due to an invisible flaw) at a newly started furniture store. Triple yayyyy! Just because.

along similar lines, have been talking about text/visual thingy I'm doing with Nelson Evergreen for yawn and it's seeming like:

a)it's actually going to get done.(i've done my bit, it's NE's problem now.... )

b)it'll be pretty good, (ie, we like it) it's taken ages/involved massive creative block but seems to have needed that time to evolve into something cool.

Am all re-energised about writing (this not having done any for several years, after ill-advised (for me) brush with academia)... and realising that playing with words/feelings/ideas gives me a massive buzz, different to the other fab stuff i get to do.... have ideas and projects and collaborators, its v.exciting and unexpected.

oh, and ongoing contact with Bicon people is keeping the buzz going, even through hormone hell.

b.i.p. - well done for your creative stuff. Am also dead jealous about the BiCon thing.

I always get a little bit of a happy from moderation requests that have as their reason something like 'I'm an idiot', or 'The first version made me sound stupid' or something - because I have to click on 'agree' or 'disagree', and it always strikes me as funny.

Watersports slash - because there should be more out and proud pervs around the place. Even if it has got hobbits or boyband members in it.

I am having a biog happy because I've drunk a whole bottle of a fine Grenache but also for real, non-intoxicated reasons too.

The saintly Hana_bi has recorded the first episodes of the new series of Six Feet Under as a surprise for non-cabled me and sent them down in the post. Big cheer! What a guy!

And we have finally sold the Edinburgh flat and will now be living in London and with some actual money in the bank to enjoy it properly (at some future date, else I'd be out buying fabulous new rubber wear in HOST right now). Shame it'll all be swallowed up buying ourselves a carboard box at the back of Kings X in the spring.

also: was made to smile by sight of chap leaping from bus and making off at a brisk jog, bulky carrier bags bashing against his legs. I reckoned he was hurrying home to catch his favourite telly programme. Why that should make me happy is anyone's guess - my own guess is that you just don't see that sort of thing these days, someone willing to compromise their dignity without being paid for it, and the knowledge that such people exist makes the world seem that bit less scary - but it did.

This thread, and Olulabelle's post are happy-making. People who look for the positive are very good things.

I'm with Stoatie on this. I'm massively appreciative of my glorious friends atm. Some met through here, some from my Right-on life.

(oh and a funny random meeting of a friend's friend who turns out to know Mono and Lily. Tres bizarre and funky...)

Three phone calls tonite have helped me from scary contorted rage/grief to a place of calm, and I feel incredibly loved and nurtured.

I'm soooooo lucky. I love my friends, they really do rool.



(Love's Forver Changes is also giving me huuuuuge happy action. And Hunky Dory to follow. mmmmm)

Oh and I think I may just burst into tears(i'm hormonal, alright) at the total utter cuteness of Haus' post and that article:

I won a hundred bucks at the casino today.

With my very. last. quarter.

Plus, my roommate won fifty bucks, forty of which she won using $2 I had loaned her, so I got half of that too. I owed her $20 anyway, so that worked out nicely.

Came away eighty dollars and fifty cents up, not counting that $20. I know how to quit when I'm ahead in the game!

This is a bragging post so forgive me, but I'm typing this at my desk, looking out the 14th floor window of the Hilton in Beijing. I've 2 more days here and it's been amazing so far. Though the taxi drivers are fuck heads. Looks like I found a universal constant. I'm going to see the Great Wall on Saturday!! Yea! Oh for the record, I'm poor skint bloke, my girlfriend is here on a work trip and I'm staying in her room. I had to morgage a kidney to get here.
