My day rocks: one of my closest friends arrived home last night (2 weeks early, from just over a year's worth of travelling). I've just found out and now I know there's something in this universe better than fistfighting! Welcome home, Vicky, oh how I have missed you.....

The day after I read a story containing the immortal line

"Fifty points from Gryffindor, Potter," said Snape breathlessly, "for being a fucking tease"

my friend bought me a little plastic Snape with removable cape, three Potions bottles, & wrist action! (It also comes with a collectible Casting Stone, which I have, accordingly, collected.)

my girlfriend and I found a house to buy. it's just a little two-story rowhouse in South Philly (a neighborhood that's slightly more Italian than Italy itself), but it's got a little patio with a garden. There's room for both of us. And it's less than half the price of the houses we were looking at closer to downtown, so we'll actually be able to go on living in the style to which we've grown acustom (i.e. I won't have to give up comic books or booze!).

I've actually dared to allow myself to feel excited.

Yay!!!!!!!!!!!

My one day reprieve from gainful employment has given me the opportunity to spend one more day hanging around the house nekkid, watching cartoons, and to finish my book. Which is just kinda cool.

Even the vet now thinks my dog's better enough that he didn't even charge me for seeing him yesterday...
My holiday from work means I'm actually off work at the same time as one of my best friends who works the exact opposite shift to me so I can actually spend some time with him...
Someone just lent me cash to buy booze...

"Wrist action"?

Good lord. Will the slash never end?

Unfortunately, his elbow & shoulder action leaves something to be desired, so the wrist action can't take place in the appropriate area. Even after you remove his removable cape.

Just read a review of my short story collection in Diva magazine - and it's grand! "A dark gem" among other things. Very chuffed right now.

Yay for sfd's critical acclaim!

Something that gave ME a happy which I would never have though would...

...seeing how much fun my friends' 15-month-old kid had on Christmas Day, with presents and stuff. Seeing as how I normally can't stand kids, her BIG smile all day was a wonder to behold. (And the only time my dog- who's also not known for her love of children, more a fear of them- barked at her was when she tried to stick her fingers up her nose. So, fair enough. I'd bark.)

New haircut. Ahhhhh.

Nice gift for SO when I get back to London which is a nice splice of things she finds funny, things she finds touching and things she finds interesting. Mmmmmm.

Drink tonight with old friend, in the old home town. Eeeeee.

Ganesh not working for once and, after his long lie, we had all day together: Camden Market for Christmas shopping (yeh, I know, but we haven't see families yet), Black Cap for a wee jar, The Two Towers (wondrous) and now chilling chez nous. Big big happy! See new nephew tomorrow in Manchester too, woohoo!

And it's still not too late to throw some perve gear on and get myself arrested...

Mourne Kransky
02:59 / 29.12.02
Well, threw on the perve gear and went to a very nice club where nobody danced and everybody just had sex instead but *bit ashamned* I didn't get arrested. I nearly got arrested for peeing once in Bromley by Bow at 4 a.m., so what do you have to do in London to outrage the bourgouisie? I am clearly losing my touch...

Oh, and I love London btw!

New tattoo done just now - a Celtic life spiral surrounded by a symbol that means 'state of mind when confronted by the supernatural', all very appropriate to being down in Cornwall. It's big and beautiful and only cost £65. Will be showing it off over the weekend.

No particular reason.

Work's a mess, Mercury's gone retrograde, the Grumiax/Haskil lp I bought is hopelessly scratched, and it's so cold in here I can barely type.

But happy just the same, oddly enough.

"Thou bruisest me, O Lord, but it is enough for me to feel Thy hand," or something to that effect.

Hotmail?

YaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!

nG! nhgh! nh.....NH!!...ur...uh...oooooooooh....gooooooooood........

Now that that's out the way, I can get on with the good stuff. The stuff that, just thinking about it, makes me quiver with....antici.........................PATION! and other stuff besides:

Thursday: Who needs a mid-week social life when you've got loads of good comics to read on the train and, when you get through the front door, BUFFY! Yes! Yes! And I haven't spoiled it for myself by reading any of the threads and all I know is that Spike has soft hair and that loads of troopers come back this season, but THAT'S NOTHING! So, while it's a shame I'll be missing the spectacular Buffy-buffet that I know will be absolutely swinging in Brighton, I'm still a really happy addict.

My Polaroid Camera: I love to take photos, I've discovered. It's the lazy man's drawing and that's fine by me. I think picture hoarding strikes strikes a deep, resonant chord with the anal-retentive deep inside (and he's staying inside, until I CHOOSE to expell him. A little bit at a time. Withhold! Withhold!) Now I have a little space/shrine/desk at the Health dedicated to me and my life and it's better than a personalised ringtone.

Brighton: Moving there. Yes indeed. Might want to get a job there, though.

I may have done this one already but I'm all re-excited about it.

Had to do a project thingy for my last counselling course, and chose to write about how experiencing the person-centred approach had affected my self-development, and my development as a mental health worker.

Hadn't written anything that I wanted to do well at in about four years, so got the Major Fear for days. In the end, bashed it out in a two-day workathon (no sleep, crouched in front of the pc with fags/coffee) and really enjoyed doing it, but didn't hold out any hopes of it being great.

Buuuuuut.. my tutor went ape over it and wants me to edit it so that he can use it as a *teaching resource* for this years' students!

Said that it illustrated alot of what he'd been trying to get across much better than his lessons had.

So, I'm meeting my work supervisor to do the edits this week, and she loves it as well, and wants to incorporate it into the training for new workers!

Woo-hah. Gives me a big big happy.

I've been going for walks every day and watching the birds - it's overcast and damp today and they seem ot like it; as well as the usual blackbirds and crows and robins I saw coal-tits, a chaffinch, a wren (hurrah) and loads of these absurdly cute little buggers flitting around in the trees (this is a big picture...)

... and if that sort of thing doesn't make you happy there's something very wrong with you...

Well, I'll be damned. Last year when we were doing The Birds, I ordered a whole bunch of prop birds & we got these "fat robins" and we were all, like, what the hell kind of bird looks like that? And the answer is, *that* bird.

Ha ha ha...

I do love this thread; good news, achievements, and photos of fluffy birds. Haven't seen a wren yet, unfortunately, but there's plenty of butch looking birds of prey hanging around.

Went for a walk this afternoon up Rosewall Hill. Not amazingly high up, but still got a near 180 degree view, from Godrevy Island to St Michael's Mount. My transformation into a hippy is nearing completion.
