I was out last night with a chum and, after eating, we decided to pub crawl our way back to the Strand. After a pint at the Nell Gwynne (tiny pub! Tiny shrew pub! And playing Morissey!), we decided to drop into the Retro Bar. After all, we theorised, it was a Wednesday evening, it would probably be empty and the music would be good...
And what had we forgotten? We had forgotten Karaoke night! It was absolutely heaving, and the karaoke, barring a marvellously full-throated lady doing "The Lady is a Centrefold" and a truly ill-advised stab at "Funky Cold Medina", it was full of the songs you'd actually want to do at karaoke but, in my profoundly limited experience, they tend not to have - "Panic", "The Great Beyond", that sort of chunky goodness...
Oh! And a tiny man was doing "Bring me to Life" when we got there. So we got to bellow.
WAKE ME UP!
CAN'T WAKE UP!
SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAVE ME! |
