Ah, the joy of asymetric frignes. Although they *do* require care and attention, which is one of many reasons why I never went for a Courtney Taylor-Taylor. I am currently replacing you as Lion-O. It's only washing it in stout and Lush conditioner that is keeping me in any semblance of control...

Anyway, I have just been directed to the happiest thing - I am now all warm and smiley. Fluffy highland calves! Badger cubs! Baby swans nesting on their mothers' backs! Big-eyed seals, damnit!

All hail the young of a variety of animals

Also: Later I'm going to a tea party. A proper one with cups and saucers and cucumber sandwiches and exceedingly good cakes.

My Father-in-Law's Legs

He's approaching 70 years of age and looks like a mouldy potato, but he has the smooth, golden legs of a 20 yr old woman. It's a joy to see.

Sand - on Southsea Beach!

Two years ago it suddenly appeared - a thin, measly line along the beach. Now there are great, rich patches of the stuff, big enough and deep enough to build 3 foot tall castles! What's more, I reckon it's come from Hayling Island. Har har! Thank you, coastal erosion. I tell you, if you're suffering from rage and head tempest nothing is more soothing, more therapeutering than the molding and shaping of sand. Mmmm, mounds...

There was a 2 year old kid reading the Guardian in his pushchair this morning on the bus - I think he was more interested in the picture of the cat. Made me happy

Deva, that is spectacular. That's made my morning. Any more? Sanrioservalan would make my week.

Me: a small but beautiful thing: my sleeping patterns seem to be pretty normal atm. (touches wood frantically.)

what needs to happen is that Deva and the creator of those fantastic things get together and make a Hello Avonkitty cartoon.

Ultimate happy, i think.

And now I am all happy at how *happy* everyone is, and so on...

I am happy because I was pondering how the shrews could enjoy Buffy, since it would take up so much of their shrew lifecycle that series 7 would probably leave them elderly and embittered, and then it struck me.

Fast forward. They can watch it on fast forward. Because they are tiny skittery things that watch television faster than the human eye.

This has made me all happy, and I am back to crocheting miniscule sleeping bags and lap-trays.

Having a book from Deva sat at home waiting for me to get it when my exams finish rocks like a motherfucker.

Also rocking like a motherfucker is the exam I just took, in which I argued that Leopold von Ranke, arch conservative historicist, was actually a postmodernist, and that Machiavelli was a Whig.

That exam was a gift.

many many thanks to flowerylady for hir camerawork and linkyness:

(it doesn't get blurry at the bottom, think that's the photo.)

The experience of having it done was amazing, was high for hours and found the actually process v.sexy. And it looks even better than I expected and is healing way ahead of schedule. I've been flashing it at people continually.

All hail a man who can draw very straight lines on a shivering torso with a tattoo needle.

This thread indeed is a thing of happiness, it bestows happiness and is currently winning it's perpeptual battle with the "Headsick! Anger.." thread, love will always win in the end...

Happy due to fine conversation with Seth last night - we discussed many things of great import, and rocked out to Lightening Bolt on his minidisc. Happy 'cos I have a huuuuge pile of books next to my bed (including "The Amber Spyglass") which I am going to spend the weekend fondling. And I just got paid so am going to buy comics as well. Text overload ahoy.

And it's a bank holiday! And it's sunny!

Getting Return of the King out of the library, watching it again, and crying again at the ending, just like I did in the cinema.

And I wouldn't be half as happy as I ever am, if not for the influence of the last poster, and all you guys. C'mere the lot of you, I want to buy all 4908 of you a drink, then give you a big hug.

There are BUNNY RABBITS on campus!

Tiny, flopsy, bouncy beige bunnies, half the size of yer average rabbit and twice as adorable! Not sure if they're teenage bunnies, dwarf bunnies or bonsai bunnies (grown in controlled conditions and pruned weekly).

Each bounce that they make sends out HAPPY reverberations!

bonsai bunnies

That just reminded me that I feel happy every time I remember my mother coming back from spending a week with my sister's newborn baby and telling us all, very seriously, that she should stop feeding it so much. ("That's why it's growing so fast!") Me and my brother just looked at each other and thought Well, now we know why all the kids in this family are so short...

Bonsai the baby!

(Oh, and BiP, your tattoo is amazing. I'm going to PM you a picture of mine.)

I was out last night with a chum and, after eating, we decided to pub crawl our way back to the Strand. After a pint at the Nell Gwynne (tiny pub! Tiny shrew pub! And playing Morissey!), we decided to drop into the Retro Bar. After all, we theorised, it was a Wednesday evening, it would probably be empty and the music would be good...

And what had we forgotten? We had forgotten Karaoke night! It was absolutely heaving, and the karaoke, barring a marvellously full-throated lady doing "The Lady is a Centrefold" and a truly ill-advised stab at "Funky Cold Medina", it was full of the songs you'd actually want to do at karaoke but, in my profoundly limited experience, they tend not to have - "Panic", "The Great Beyond", that sort of chunky goodness...

Oh! And a tiny man was doing "Bring me to Life" when we got there. So we got to bellow.

WAKE ME UP!
CAN'T WAKE UP!
SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAVE ME!

salt scrubb: howwwww cute. My uni campus was home to more rabbits than students, so every spring was a big bag of baby bunny goodness... adorable little bundles of fluff... until they were culled, of course.

I yam happy because I scored myself a bargain copy of Life at Blandings: 3xthe Wodehouse joycore.

We had ducks at my college - two boys and a girl. Which meant that every year we got tiny ducklings, following their mother in a straight line and cheeping adorably. Eventually, they had to be transported carefully to a nearby college which had a proper pond, so that they could learn how to swim. And they were so cute. So cute.

I've never found it so. It does make me happy, possibly because I am an aging indie saddo, but having the whole table stop to sing along to something from the days of subsidised beer is all nice.

my daisies are doing lovely, my roses are blooming beautifully, and I just received my mother's day gift from my thoughtful girl - a lovely new silver shadow rosebush to plant. I can't wait til it grows big!

although I hate the heat, the summer so far has been reasonably mild and I'm looking forward to roller coasters, swimming, and a road trip.

I have a smart, sweet and ubersexy new boyfriend.

yes indeedy, things are rosy.
