Surfing news sites and marvelling at the sheer number of people who've turned out to protest against the war. A million in London and Rome, half a million in Berlin... fantastic!

Ditto.

Getting on the bus to go to work this morning, surrounded by a gang of pensioners with Stop the War banners, then a load of schoolkids getting on the bus with more banners, getting to work and watching the news on BBC News 24, and watching a guy mug the camera with a George Dubya mask on, with the word TWAT emblazoned on the forehead.

While not at all world changing, my fiance and I bought a matress today, and in spite of temptation, stayed within our price range. In eight days, we'll be sleeping on it instead of our futon (which has grown somewhat uncomfy after six months). The salesman was supernice and superhelpful, and left us alone at the right times and encouraged us to flop around on the floor samples and really get comfy. We'll get it in about ten days, and we'll be snuggling on our new queen sized pillowtop matress, our couch will be donated to my sweetie's lab, and our futon will go back to it's intended purpose- couch and place for guests to sleep. : )

Hey, if the triffid came from someone who gave a shit about me, I'd still like it. Believe me.

Now, assembled shelves make me happy. And a new computer desk. And the fact that my cybercafe computer is called "Hamlet". It could only be better suited if it were called "Osric".

What gives me a happy right now is the fact that having gone through all that lack of sleep/being REAL fucked at work thing, I've now come home, given the dog her medicine, taken her for a nice walk, checked in here and can now go to bed.

That and the fact that while I was in the pub this morning, a guy came up and said "sorry to bother you, mate, but my girlfriend wanted me to give you this note". And then handed me a hastily-scrawled copy of Charlie Mouse's song from Bagpuss. Which led to a fairly productive conversation about Bagpuss with said couple. Who were both really cool. (Though they looked a little baffled when I arsily proclaimed "You can't make chocolate biscuits from breadcrumbs and butterbeans! Fiddlesticks and flapdoodle!" But then, whadda they expect, being in the pub at 8 in the fucking morning?)

Bagpuss stories are always good - although, Stoatie, it's about time you got your car sorted and posted photos of the bagpussmobile up here.

I've just been to Baldhu church - a big place with a Blair Witch wood at the side. The church is disused and is boarded up, has been for a while now, by the looks of it. V strong atmosphere, it's supposed to be haunted and I certainly felt pretty spooked walking around the place, but it felt like an exciting find anyway. Can't wait to go back there with my camera.

I don't think I even blinked while I was there - partly so as not to step in the dogshit, but mostly I was doing lots of twisty turny head stuff so as to keep an eye on the whole place all at once. Closing one's eyes just means the monsters can creep up on you.

Something along similar lines. After an exhausting weekend, and checking in here/reading coverage of the marches (Happy 1), am off home for a cupt of tea, a long bath and bed.(Happy 2)

The Cornish Tourist Board should have you on a retainer, Sfd. Baldhu Church sounds magnificently gothic, but then you are such a wordsmith.

Someone from The Illustrated Ape zine has just emailed me to say he lied a story I sent them, that it "could be for them" and could I send them more stuff!

Hurrah! Plus, my hair looks good today and my girlfriend is happy- does life get better? No, no life does not.

Haus' B7 quiz. Because I am *so* Servalan.

And this, from a conversation with a friend, is the Best Thing Ever. Conclusively. We were talking about gorgeous alan cumming and then she says:

"he's in talks with ABC-TV to do a detective series. Sort of like Hart to Hart but with a gay couple instead of husband & wife. Someone asks him who he'd like to have as his "husband" and he says...

..."Someone older. And bigger."

THAT is why Alan Cumming is the man. Even if this show never sees the light of day, the very idea...

Imagine if Stephen Fry played the husband?

He's older!
He's bigger!
He's gay!"

I defy you to find a happier thought than this.

Wow.

It's 1:14am, but I have the feeling I'll be up until 4 re-reading my Invisibles now. With a big grin on my face.

That was great.

My laptop, with it's wires and it's videos (Slam and The Powerpuff Girls) gthat are holding the airvents off the floor and the usica electronica going to a pair of appropriatly silver headphones and an optical mouse that is very swish and SoulSeek and damn everything! is making me feel like I'm in Neuromancer.

It is also, with the whole printer/scanner/photocopier thing, making me feelvery creative and optimistic, like I can get a print version of Batman Doesn't Love Me Anymore up and running (in a papery way) and that I may, actually, in some small way, GET MY SHIT TOGETHER.

Yay!

So you may remember ages ago I was moaning about how there was this one slash writer who was waaaaay better than I could ever hope to be and I might as well just give up and go home?

So the other day she emailed me completely out of the blue - this is the first contact I've ever had with her - to say she'd found my story via a link on some other HP slash writer's website and she thought it was great.

Hee hee hee hee.

And a pro erotica writer/editor (Cecilia Tan) emailed me as well to say she liked the same piece. Hee hee hee hee.

Just when I'd more or less given up, I got a letter today from a literary agency wanting to read my manuscript.

And I got offered a job this week as well, which I probably won't take, but it's nice to be asked.

W00T! What's the link, Deva?

On the happy side, I was told as a formailty how much my paycheque was for and was genuinely astonished and delighted, having forgotten completely what I earned. I really need an accountant.

I found a video with 4 episodes of "Star Cops" on it for a pound at the big car bootpocalypse behind Brighton station at the weekend, and it rocks so incredibly hard. Indescribably wonderful - there may be a thread in this if anyone else remembers it...

Haus - PM me for the link, I'm not linking directly to Potter slash sites as they're under siege at the moment.

I've never seen Star Cops but I heard Chris Boucher talking about it at Redemption: he is very sad about how it was sabotaged by the Beeb or whoever it was. You can get his novelizations of it through Judith's site and there are pictures of people dressed up as the Star Cops at Redemption, the con from which I recently returned, here

All of these things also give me a happy, particularly Chris Boucher, who is a beautiful, depressive god who speaks wisely, movingly and arousingly about many things, and who signed my collection of Blake's 7 fanfic.
