Hey. I didn't realize it was going to get this crazy.

I invited my brother along because he's really nice, courteous, open minded, and he isn't going to come for the booze and hot "chicks." That, and he's my younger brother so I can kick his ass if he gets out of line.

I'm feeling a bit bad in presuming that I can bring him. Since there were no takers for a ride from Canada (with the exception of WoI), I needed to put some ass in some seat to make gas money. And the most 'lither non-'lither I know is my brother.

If anybody has any objections to me bringing him, feel free to point it out. He will be fully informed as to the type of getogether it is, and will be exposed to the board before we leave. No surprises. Also, we both are used to sleeping in strange places, so if I need to sleep in the bathtub, that's all cool with me.

WoI, I think you need a a passport to cross the border, but I believe even an expired one will work.
It's certainly not for me to say who can and can't come, or bring visitors, but I'm easier with one than four, especially if it's a relative and I've heard of his existence mentioned at least half-a-dozen times on the board, as in moriarty's case. Vadrice, I'm not picking on you, I'm just a little concerned, is all. Perhaps a second room would be a good idea, with deference of the first room to 'lithers, I dunno.

Guess I got a bit caught up in the whole "big bad city" mentality.

They still don't know if they're coming, and if it looks like it'll make things turn hostile, I won't be able to convince them to.

However, they are a couple of minds that I thought would mesh well with the spirit and whatnot that is Barbelith.

I was bringing them along to prove or disprove that theorem... and because they have a car and I don't.

Amongst all of us, we can probably come up with a room of our own, but I haven't spoken with them about money yet.

Hell... I haven't even gotten a difinitive yay or nay about the thing.

Basicly these guys I wanted to bring along are my band. We adore each other, and we somehow managed to survive Eastern Europe together, and it was brilliant.
They're a bunch of sweet guys, and are more likely to be scared of you than you are of them.
And, I was doing my DAMNdest to not make Bitchie drive three hours out of her way to pick my sorry ass up.

However, (assuming they'd come anyway) I leave it to the will of the masses as it were.
If it's what you want, I'll tell them not to come.

Well, on that note...Greetings.

I'm one of Vadrice's friends...the hotly debated lechers. Personally, I've got a girlfriend, so good company and a chance to go back to New York for an actual reason other than wasting gas is my motivation. As for the other 2 of us that could possibly show, neither of them are exactly in-your-face type of folks.

Anyway... I hate being a burden on anyone, but I could contribute money, drive Vadrice, and probably bring a little more enjoyment to the gathering. Any opinions? Should I wash my car or not?

I think the main problem was how you announced it. Sounded very much like a 'let's party, woo hoo!' kind of thing. Which I seriously doubt this will be.

The other problem is an issue of space. As someone else said, it would suck if a 'lither couldn't make it, because someone showed up with 4 non 'lithers. Does that make sense? In other words, with limited room, I think people here would rather meet people they interact with here, and are reguliar members of the community, then people they might never see/hear from ever again.

To that end, since it does look like there will be a pretty good size turn out. May be you guys should look into a second room, if your friends want to come.

If you guys can float an extra hotel room, then I don't see why it would be a problem. As I said before, I think the two main concerns were basically not letting things get out of hand, and keeping things low key.

How about instead of that we get a count of who is going to be sleeping at the Marriot, and on what nights? NOT who is coming to the meet, but who will acctually be spending the night at the Marriot. As I AM said, I think the main concerns were the space and the lecherousness. If we had any more people coming, from Barbelith or not, we'd need another room.
Vadrice, why don't you check with the Marriot and see if there is a room available adjoining or next door to the first, so we can keep it local in the hotel.
Personally, my concerns about the non-lithers showing up for a raging drunken orgy have been assuaged. It was a bit hyperbolic and perhaps a little poorly phrased (happens to the best of us). So Vadrice, Caged, I think I speak for everyone when I say provided you guys take care of a room, you and your friends are welcome and invited. (I think I speak for everyone anyway)

I'm fairly local, so I'll bring whatever entertainment I can carry (laptop/modem, lotsa CD's, maybe a case of Red Bull) Anyone else have any requests/needs/contradictions?

Well nothing is really tied down, but if you come expecting to chill out in a hotel room with people on Friday night (as people arrive) do some scoping out of NYC on Saturday. More hanging with people on Saturday night. And then some more scoping on Sunday, you probably won't be to dissapointed. It might be more involved then that, but I think we can promise you at least that much.

Cagedenergy: By no means are we all magickians, although some of us (including me!) share a strong interest in Magick. Basically it seems to be a group of people getting together and hanging out, talking about different things and chilling out. Hotel info should be on page 5 or 6 of this thread. I think the meet is happening on Saturday evening, athough it also looks as if peeps are coming at different times (Flux just mentioned Sunday for 4-5 hours, but I thought the non-NYCers would be going home late Sunday morning...)
