another good episode, okay return of Martha made it an easy sell
again bit narked she's kidnapped and duplicated
soem of the pacing was a bit weird, the scene with the army guys finding the clone slime pit took forever but it was nice to see UNIT soldiers being thick again, the opening sequence made them look a bit professional rather than the Dad's Army crew we know them to be
nice nods to previous stories as well with mention of the UNIT dating controversy ('In the seventies, or was it the eighties') and 'bit more homespun then'
sontarans were great and it did have a retro vibe including the unseen alien threat talks on video monitor shot
and Cribbins
and dooom comes to Donna's family
Martha's description of Doctor as fire was lovely too
hope they get to hang out a bit more next episode
oh and loved the Brigadeirs reference to the Doctor's weapons being secret/hidden

Speaking of the Brig, it'd be nice if they gave a passing mention to Lethbridge Stewart next week. I mean, if they can pay lip service to the UNIT dating controversy, then surely the Brigadier can get a mention!

It's much better than Torchwood and occasionally as good as Who. It's very close in tone to modern Who and stylistically it feels like a blend of new and old. It's ten episodes, divided into five stories, so you get a cliff hanger every other week. It's very like a kid-friendly version of Buffy at times, with Sarah Jane's young neighbour hiding her alien-fighting double life from her father. If you don't feel like trudging through all the episodes, the Graeme Harper directed and Gareth Roberts written "Whatever Happened to Sarah Jane," is well worth watching. It's easy to heap praise on the show because the tone and style of something like that is easy to pin down, whereas with Torchwood, the show never seems to know how it should pitch itself.

The budget never seemed to hurt the show, and it is (i)much(/i) better than Torchwood. The first season ended about a year ago so you'll have to download it, I don't think it's out on DVD, but do watch it, it's great. What ever happened to Sarah Jane is up there with the best new Who. New Season starts after this series of Who I think.

It's really rather good SJA. There's one D.V.D. available of the pilot that wasn't a pilot special though that's not the best of the run.

Consistantly enjoyable, never less than fun, occasionally creepy with good use of Who mythology and recurring monsters it was a favourite of my eldest niece and nephew and, as was said before, much better than Torchwood.

Impressivley it hit the ground running and got better as it went along. I agree that Whatever happened to Sarah Jane was the highlight but none of the stories were anywhere near as awful as CyberWoman. Revebge if the Slitheen remains the best use of the Raxacoricofallopatarians to date and Eyes of the Gorgon is nicely spooky.

Also some excellent guest actors for a CBBC show. Continuing the New Who philosophy of creating good roles for Women of a Certain Age there are appearances from Samantha Bond in The Invasion of the Bane, Eye of the Gorgon has a moving turn from Phyllida Law and Jane Asher may be the best thing in Whatever happened to Sarah Jane.

JNT (Or John-Nathan Turner) was the producer of Doctor Who during the eighties. Most known for casting "actors" familiar from light entertainment. Also known for (arguably) running the show into the ground, although he did wonderful things during the 7th Doctor's era.

That episode made me feel all warm and fuzzy. Another very traditional episode, with lots of humour and some nice (if occasionally odd) direction. I didn't catch it (because I blinked!) but everyone I saw it with insists there was a brief flash of Rose on the screen when Donna was watching the Doctor. I think I saw a flash of blonde, but nothing else. What was she doing there?

Loved the end on this one. Martha telling Donna and the Doctor that she's had her fill and the TARDIS deciding otherwise. Criminy, love how the TARDIS is an definite entity in he/she/its own right with these series...

But honestly, the teaser for "The Doctor's Daughter"? Could we have any more shades of that part of "Resident Evil"? Gah.

In JNTs defence when he had a script editor who cared he worked well. If he'd left with Davison he's be remembered more fondly. As for running it into the ground, well that's a debate for elsewhere.

Really liked this episode which had a surprising amount of back references, to The Brig, Captain Jack, the Valiant, "Are you my mummy?" and probably more.

It's also the first time, I think, that Sontarans have used clone technology in a military manner. Such an obvious, logical thing to do but I don't recall seeing it before on the telly, in the comics, the novels, and the spin off non-Doctor audios.

It really was an excellent episode. It's a shame then that it only got 5.9 million viewers, the lowest yet for the series.
