Maybe one with some onion. But nothing further?

Garlic bagels would be good. Actually apple bagels would probably taste good with salmon. Have you tried it with blueberry?

Liger, you and DD PM your details and I will send you some goodies for X-mas. (Though, to be fair, it won't be properly in time for the holiday, but it will be before the New Year's.)

And honestly, I am kind of a squeamish kitten about mixing fruit with shellfish and suchlike. Not very adventurous for a food lover, I know.

Maybe this doesn't fall under the same category, but would you like to be sent some banana bread with chocolate chips and a cinnamon streusel crust?

That sounds like a really good idea, Kali (though the struesel may or may not be sweetness overload), I was listening to this thing on NPR about the dos and don'ts of mailing edible treats. I don't remember what exactly it said, but I'm sure you could download the piece from their website.

Whoa, Thanks Kali!

For the season, sweetness overload is key.

(You don't have to keep it all to yourself. One loaf is suitable for four or five. But then I am greedy.)

"Hallo. Do you want banana bread with choco chips and cinnamon too?"

That so beats "Hi, How are you?" for best greetings ever!!

But the "Hey there Veng!" was very nice too!

Back. And right on there's food shipping involved!

I'm not sure if that was a friendly I just want to talk call or a sales pitch I just got. Weird. And weirder that I don't mind that it might have been all about me buying stuff (which I'm not likely to), because they were being sweet about it.

LN, I haven't tried the lox/specialty-bagel thing except for onion, so it's been a lifetime of plain bagel & lox, basically, now broken. Now that it's here, it's not bad. It's actually pretty balanced. The Reuben is outstandingly marvelous. Such a simple sandwich, and yet, it can get so messed up. People can't stand not changing up the recipe; the same people who make coleslaw with milk, I'd imagine. This one's like a thick stack of heaven on rye.

Also,

Thanks for the offer Kali, but chances are I will have a freezer full of left over xmas bakings, but the offer is most kind and appreciated. Seems like everywhere I go I have women wanting to bake for me and men wanting to take me out drinking. I love being me!

Did you end up buying anything, Deca?

Finally got done watching the trailer. I was expecting all this Cloverfield stuff to spoil it for me by revealing too much, but now I'm even more intrigued. And creeped out.

I have a sudden urge to open a donut shop that serves alcohol. There's no convincing me there isn't money in that.

I'm a bit of a soft touch. So, I'm thinking about it. My brother would actually wear some of their t-shirts and it would be a good idea to do something for him that isn't directed more at his kids.

They just e-mailed to apologise for babbling about the products, though, so it may have just been excitement on their part.

Well, DD, if your brother would like their stuff, maybe it would be a cool thing to help out both parties.

I'm going to have to turn in for the night, I keep promising myself that I'm going to go to bed before midnight, but that never seems to happen. Of course, now I'm going to have bad dreams about giant critters stomping all over the city and swilling fish-slushies...

This Sunday
03:11 / 15.12.07
Night, LN. Hopefully the critters'll turn happy before it gets too heavy. Dream a game of fetch with the monster or something.

Just try not to think of fish slushies.

This Sunday
03:21 / 15.12.07
Seeing as how I've been up since yesterday (the realization of which just scared me a bit), I think I'm going to go visit my pillow for a bit. May be back in a few, may not. Someday, I will post again!

Good night, all.

( I hope Dare Devil didnt think I meant him. Turning in this early will surely allow the Kingpin to prevail!)

This Sunday

Hello, shift. It's me again.

I have a meeting at one a.m. Pacific, so I'm desperatrely trying to stay awake for it.

Whose around?

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy

I should be cleaning.

How are you?

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
00:05 / 17.12.07
Feeling very Earthy and clean-y. Going through my cupboards at the moment to avoid the actual tidying up of my piles. You know, all the books, magazines, unwrapped presents, random containers of lego, etc.

Also: eating fudge!

Liger Null
00:10 / 17.12.07
Random legos?

Hooray!

Ugh, fudge. They've been passing fudge around at work and now I'm already fudged out for this year.

What presents did you get?

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
00:34 / 17.12.07
A copy of Ralph Steadman's memoir about Hunter S. Thompson for my friend in Japan, a copy of Angela Carter's Nights at the Circus for my mother. For my dad, I got Cory Doctorow's Someone Comes to Town, Someone Leaves Town as well as a second book--they're wrapped, so I can't quite remember what the second one was. I'm big on giving people books, obvs. The Accomplice is getting a zip-up hooded sweatshirt.

I was mostly eating fudge to clean out the container because it's perfect for storing mustard powder; the cupboards are done and now I'm onto the main body of the apartment. Then there's the closet.

The random lego was from my birthday, a gift from the Accomplice (along with the collected poems of Leonard Cohen and Clash of the Titans on DVD.

Sounds like great gifting all around, papers.

I'm pretty much done with shopping, aside from a few gift cards here and there.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
00:40 / 17.12.07
I just need to pick up a second thing for the mother and the accomplice, which I'll be doing on Tuesday after work. My next week or so is so precisely scheduled it kills me.

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK
00:53 / 17.12.07
Well, I've just wasted a quid. In an attempt to solve an argument at work, I sent a text message to that service where they claim to be able to answer ANY question, and asked them "are the Arctic Monkeys still shit?"

In response I got- "The Arctic Monkeys have a unique style of music which does not appeal to all audiences. They are, however, talented musicians and not shit."

Which is kind of sitting on the fence a little, and goes NOWHERE towards resolving the argument.

How's everyone else?

Liger Null
01:00 / 17.12.07
You spent a quid for that information?

Isn't that, like, a thousand dollars now?
