Let's be honest, a lot of us guys are still watching - can't we talk about it?

('Guys', of course, being gender-neutral - 'Guys' in the sense of us all being humans, who are still tuning in to 'Big Brother' this year.)

Sorry, I am leaning towards WP's view of BB8. Fake week as they have so cheerfully coined it pretty much destroyed my enjoyment of the show and made me lose hope in a desperate type of way.

It was a spectacularly bad idea, the pl*nt and all, ultimately limp in execution. It's just not the same-ah, Mark, without Dr. G.

I still watch of course, hoping he'll write a note, maybe pop up in Xoc's suit, but it never happens and I begin to lose hope.

Also, Brian's victory is - by now - a foregone conclusion. He is clearly not as stupid as he pretends to be, because he would not casually use words like 'bohemian' otherwise, but it's a vote-winner, evidently. Asexualism, to an extent, within the environs, seems to have been so for two of the last three, actually, and it's a well-worn path Bri follows.

What, even when he was "pitching a tent" on national telly?

Was he? Pete had a big willy, too, but was treated for at least five weeks as, well, 'lovely, of course, but you wouldn't, would you?' And I think Brian has aroused even less interest thus far.

Sorry for not participating- i'm still watching Mr Smith, but have missed the last couple of nights.

What, even when he was "pitching a tent" on national telly?

One of the more disturbing moments of this years big brother. While i've found some of Brians antics funny when he pointed it out to charlie it reminded me of the kid who used to flash his dick through his pocket at primary school as a way of trying to woo girls.

Anyway for those that missed it... (probably nsfw)

Let's be honest, a lot of us guys are still watching - can't we talk about it?

So Charlie and Tracy up for eviction this week. It's time to say goodbye to Charlie- both a blessing and a curse- she makes me want to throw things at the telly- but then she keeps things moving in there too (Ziggy and channelle in bed for 5 weeks will be a borefest). With the final not for another 5 weeks it could well be a slow end to this season.

Thoughts people?

anyone still out there?

Mr Smith?

Well, apparently they're bringing more people in...

Personally, I just want to see really bad things happen to Zippy.

Aaaand my fucking digital TV channels have fucked up, and it's Tiscali so their customer service sucks. So I may NOT be watching for a while.

Personally, I just want to see really bad things happen to Zippy.

I see Zippy as a big old loveable golden retriever of a guy, albeit one who's in the middle of some sort of existential crisis, so I'm hoping he'll be all right.

I won't be sorry to see the back of Charley though. In a different year her antics might have been amusing (Charley vs everyone else for Perfect Pete's affections would have been great, for example; see also Charley in relation to Glyn's erections,) but in the context of this summer's house she does seem a bit too red of tooth and claw.

That's, uh, actually quite an impressive line-up, isn't it?

Johnty to win, anyone?

He's only 36?

That scares the shit outa me!

36 going on 56... it could be interesting.

i hope Charleys tabloid reign is short although something tells me that she gets at least one spin off series and at least enough tabloid coverage to see her through till christmas...

Alex's Grandma
22:04 / 27.07.07
Not sure about the TV series (although it could happen, if anyone can bear to work with her for long enough) but as far as the red-tops go, Charley's probably a keeper for at least the next year. There'll be the night club punch-ups, the mysterious absences from the public eye, the chat show appearances and so on. And her 'autobiography' will be out by Christmas, and it'll sell pretty decently, because it will the ideal present for family members who it's otherwise difficult to buy anything for, because they don't seem to like anything much. Certainly, I'm expecting to receive at least one copy myself.

On the plus side, she'll be easy enough to ignore.

Gutted about the new people though. If Endemol had started off with this lot instead of some of the dead wood it's been carrying for the last nine weeks, then watching the show might still have been harrowing, yes, but in a more uplifting way. As it is, what was the point of Nicky, for example; what's the use of Tracey, and why was Seany allowed anywhere near the BB house, when they could have put at least a few of these colourful eccentrics in there instead?

Olulabelle
21:24 / 30.07.07
Because, given that SexOnTelly is Big Brother's reason for being, in another dimension somewhere Seany was potentially shaggable, whereas Jonty for example is patently not.

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK

Still not seen any of the new people. But Chanelle's walked?

Oh well. If nothing else, it cements Zippy's reputation as SOMETHING OF A GIT.

I didn't even LIKE Chanelle, but Zippy was totally being a bastard to her, and NEEDS TO SUFFER FOR IT (and many other things). On telly, preferably.

I miss Nicky. Nicky rocked.

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK

Actually, if they just did a show which was all about horrible things happening to Zippy, I reckon I may actually brave the Tiscali customer helpline and get my telly back on.

I think Zippy has put me off relationships forever.

Alex's Grandma
13:43 / 31.07.07
But after Zippy's (all right, quite stupid) decision to start a 'relationship' with Chanelle within what felt like about five minutes of his arrival in the house, what was he supposed to do? He could have possibly have let her down gently in the first couple of weeks, but after that, what's just happened was always likely to be the result if he tried to finish things. And yet they clearly 'weren't right' ... So he was a man torn, plus it can't have helped having Carole in there, always on hand to pour poison in his ear. And it must have been difficult for him, watching the relationship end so badly, feeling like he'd driven Chanelle out of the house when it was in his power, and his power alone, to make her stay.

(I'll obviously have to take all this back if he gets off with Amy before Friday.)

"Oh Chanelle I lick... I mean I like you so much but you know, it's just so heavy, being together like this in front of all these cameras. It's not you Chanelle, you're cute as a button, just a bit young but that doesn't matter it's all me. I just don't want to have a relationship in this house, it's me not you" blah blah blah blah, I think he's a wanker too.

imaginary mice, don't worry, not all people are as stupid as Ziggy who, let's face it, has the emotional abilities of a peanut.

So what happens with the halfway house?

Is there a regular eviction this week? If so Carol to go, she just got too involved and bitchy in the whole chiggy thing IMHO. I'm wondering whether the public gets to vote a halfway housemate in and the others out... If that's the case any of them other than ziggy could give us a few entertaining weeks... I reckon he's gonna regret volunteering.

I think this is unfair.

But I bet you like Carole, don't you? I bet you think she's really cool.

And that you secretly want Liam to win.

Tryphena Absent

Actually I think Carole's sanctimonius and Liam needs to remove the stick from his backside. I like the twins and Gerry.

I see Zippy as a big old loveable golden retriever of a guy, albeit one who's in the middle of some sort of existential crisis, so I'm hoping he'll be all right.

I see him as a spineless turd who makes me ashamed to be male. His absolute relief when Chanelle finally got some dignity and buggered off was typical of his wankerdom. He squeezed a few tears out so mummy Carol could comfort him upon her matronly chest, but basically couldn't have been happier. As annoying as Chanelle may have been at times, everything she said to him in her final tirade was spot on, and the fucker couldn't, or wouldn't, respond at all beyond claiming wimpishly "I asked if you were OK.." the hateful thing about him is he reserved all his nastiness and bullshit for Chanelle, so to the rest of the house she seemed like a neurotic, clingy nightmare, whilst he came off like Mr Nice-Boyfriend-getting-grief-from-the-missus. Wanker.

Cliff Richard faced WANKER.

But after Zippy's (all right, quite stupid) decision to start a 'relationship' with Chanelle within what felt like about five minutes of his arrival in the house, what was he supposed to do?

He could have expressed his wishes clearly and then stuck to his guns. He'd initiate a conversation in which he'd insinuate the relationship should stop and shortly after he'd be right back to expressing how much he cared and kissing and cuddling, cos y'know, humph, eh, y'know?

How many times was this scenario played out in the past few weeks? I've seen it at least three or four times I don't even watch every show.

Given the onslaught of mixed messages he was giving he thoroughly deserved every moment of passive-aggressive payback.

'What are you doing? Leave the poor girl alone!' has been yelled at the TV many times in my house just recently.

He could have expressed his wishes clearly and then stuck to his guns.

Well yeah, but it seemed (and should say that I've only been watching the highlights, and not every night, so I could be mistaken here) that virtually every time he tried to do that Chanelle threatened to leave, which I'm prepared to believe is something Zippy genuinely didn't want to see happen, and not just because he was worried about how it would make him look on camera.

I suppose he could have left the house himself, as per Lauren Laverne's suggestion on BBLB yesterday (okay, I've been watching that as well) but on the other hand, even if he had done, how long would Chanelle have stayed in the house without the relationship to keep her going? She could easily have walked anyway a few days later, especially seeing as Carole, who looks like an enemy to be feared in there, seemed to be out to get her by the end.

Olulabelle
20:07 / 01.08.07
I don't think Chanelle did threaten to leave as many times as they broke up. She only threatened to leave when he was an arse. Which was admittedly a lot. But the point is she was all up for staying and being apart, I suppose because for her it was better to be around him than not, but she only did the leaving thing when he said horrible things about her, and specifically when he said them to other people.

The Falcon
23:29 / 01.08.07
It was good... amazing, really, even when he called her 'Sarah' during the breakup. A-may-zing.

I'm not in the Zippy hate brigade though; Chanelle must be a fairly constant trial, understandable given her really quite shocking background, but still. He had a fakey relationship in the house and realised he wanted out fairly early but allowed it, and perhaps was occasionally pleased to, to chunter onward to apocalypse. What's so terribly wrong with that, eh?

Alex's Grandma

For a bit, yeah. Zippy did offer to spend the rest of his time in the house in the caravan towards the end, so as to avoid treading on Chanelle's toes.

It's difficult to see how that would have lasted as an arrangement, though. Zippy, undeniably, behaved badly, but arguably so did Chanelle (the violin incident, the worries about Charley, the attack on Amy, etc) and it was never likely to end well.

Zippy, for sure, must be glad that Chanelle's no longer in the house, but, on the other hand, I'm so entranced by his stylish T&G haircut that I cannot bear to ascribe any substandard motives to the man.

I think this is really true, he undercut her so much, really took any power she had away and put her in a really difficult situation. The only thing she could do to retain any autonomy was leave.

This is a joke isn't it?

The Falcon
17:46 / 02.08.07
Perhaps. I mean, okay, it was on telly but she didn't seem so terribly hurt or damaged by his actions on BBLB on, uhm, Tuesday was it?

Alex's Grandma
20:15 / 02.08.07
I think Chanelle will be all right.

She's had the odd bad moment, to be sure - it was a mistake for her to get involved with Zippy so early on, as they both seem to acknowledge, but she's not a terminal idiot, unlike, say, Brian, and, after all, she scrubs up nice, and can still play the violin.

But I worry about Charley. Since leaving the house she's apparently, what with the bloodcurdling TV appearances, the bad news about the red-top deals she didn't get, (because of her large personality/inability to avoid seeming 'insane,' and so on,) really pissed on her chips.

And these aren't/weren't chips Charley could afford to piss on either, I fear.
