So I started watching this on Friday and finished it at 03:00 Sunday night, refusing to go out drinking with my flatmates.
Wow.
Just fucking wow.
I've never been so split by anything I've seen before, I was getting bored by #16, yea the fights were kick ass but there is only so much weird Mech beating the crap out of each other I can take.

I must say that I acquired and finished Gurren Lagann last November and

Was.
Floored.

I don't know if spoilers are allowed or encouraged, but I will readily admit that this work of science fiction is top notch as far as any creative endeavor goes. This is about as magickal as any anime gets, what with the whole notion of breaking beyond void after void to achieve new and unknown realms of gnosis. Simon is the new Aeon. Yoko is the sexually unfulfilled embodiment of Isis the Eternal Virgin. Kamina is Crowely and Parsons rolled into one.

Sheer brilliance!

Though it has its slow points in the middle (two episodes or so), this is the greatest anime work I have ever seen thus far.

The movie dropped in Japan last weekend. Enjoy your wait for the DVD so that we non-Japanese types can have a look at a semi-decent copy. In the meantime be satisfied with this report from German anime convention Connichi at which the movie aired and Studio Gainax came out in force to attend a Q&A panel and autograph shit.
