Nobody really needs to watch Lost either...

Having finished Season Three not too long ago, I have to say that making Tyrol one of the Final Five really retroactively destroyed one of the more interesting character bits he had -- his dreams, which Cyclon Stockwell told him were the result of an innate fear that he was a Cylon.

Finding out that the dreams were, in fact, because Tyrol WAS a Cylon makes the whole thing a lot less compelling.

I stopped watching Lost when it became less interesting than the last series of Happy Daze. Want Galactica.

Matt, we don't know the first thing about what it means that Tyrol is a Cylon, as yet.

Hmmm - in a perfect world I suppose BSG would continue forever and keep the quality up. However since it's highly unlikely both of those things will happen I think I happier for the show to bow out with the next series than to carry on well past the onset of the inevitable decline most shows tend to suffer. What I'd really like to see would be one more season, but for this one to be really packed and meaty without the kinda flabby bit the last two seasons have suffered from in the middle.

Matt, we don't know the first thing about what it means that Tyrol is a Cylon, as yet.

Yes, and each one of us is slowly exploring the life that has been given to us, finding out more and more about what it means to be... human.

Every man and woman is a star.

I like it that the end is in sight, it'll add focus and intensify everything, and, you know, endings are good.

Galactica's at it's best when it ramps up the tension and the final series is a perfect opportunity to do plenty of that.

I like the fact the end is near for Galactica and hope that means fewer filler episodes...

Too much is always worse than never enough. I guess I can cope if Big Love keeps up the quality of its first season. Lost, Schmost...

Matt, I felt the same way at first, but it does raise some interesting questions. The miniseries and first series implied that the Cylon infiltration of the Twelve colonies was a fairly recent thing, 'Hero' suggested that, at worst, the Cylon Empire was fairly quiet before Adama sent that fighter in to their territory. But Tigh was already serving with Adama as his XO at that point.

I don't have the DVDs to hand, so does anyone remember how previous to this show the first human/Cylon war was?

Shiny: Well Over Thirty

Supposed to be 40 odd years I think. Always made me wonder why Adama and Tigh didn't look they do, if they're supposed to have been veterans of the previous war.

Interestin'... It seems that Tigh was one of the few survivors of the Cylon boarding of a ship called the Brenik during the first Cylon war. Since I doubt Skin-jobs are ever babies he must have been put into deep cover when he was mature. Working hypothesis: When the Cylons captured the Brenik they left Tigh behind with false memories and presumably brain-fiddled the crew into thinking Tigh was one of them.

Remember, though, Tyrol's the one who delivers the punchline "We're all Cylons" at the end.

Is there any reason, other than maybe the network's/producers' suggestions (which may be deliberately misleading; see Starbuck), that this is the correct interpretation of the five being drawn to the music?

Tyrol's drawing this conclusion from the events would follow from his experiences in the earlier episode. If the Cylons themselves are behind the music (heh), maybe 'Stockwell' had identified Tyrol as being particularly vulnerable to such a ruse.

I was pretty sure the producers have identified them as definitely being Cylons, albeit a totally different kind of Cylon.

Shiny: Well Over Thirty
19:10 / 02.06.07
Yeah - I figured it might be a fake out based on the info actually presented in the show, but the producers were pretty clear about it. Still one supposes they might not be above lying about it.....

Our Lady Has Left the Building

If it's a fake out, wouldn't they try to fake out more than four people? And wouldn't they go for, say, Adama or Roislin rather than Sam or Torrie?

Shiny: Well Over Thirty
06:32 / 03.06.07
Well if it were a fake out it might be that those that really are Cylons already know, or that the Cylons plan doesn't call for them to know yet. With regards to those that have been presented as Cylons I do find it interesting that they seem to include all of the most militant leaders of the resistance on New Caprica. Mainly I'm just not convinced that the four are all really Cylons because I liked that Tigh was a human screw-up who did things that benefitted the Cylons on a regular basis just because he was flawed and human, not because he was a sleeper agent. Still his absolutely brilliant reaction to apparently learning he's a Cylon did go some way towards selling me on the idea it might be a good thing for the series for him to be one.

RAZOR: BSG Telemovie teaser

More fun on the Pegasus, new character, um, yeah.

Also, for the theory mongers out there, there are some comments/spoilers out on the webernet from Aaron Douglas (Tyrol) that lend weight/confirm some theories we've discussed, including one I attempted to outline, but it was kind of confusing. Not completely sure if we want to post them on here for discussion (also, are we going to start a new topic for Season 4?).

Start a speculation thread, so we can start a 'no spoilers' thread when the series is shown.

With the benefit of distance I completely disagree and think the opposite. Tyrol the human having dreams in which he is frightened of being a Cylon is much less interesting than Tyrol the Cylon having dreams in which he is frightened of being a Cylon.

Just watched the last four all in a row last night and I really loved them. Initially I was a bit "oh for fuck's sake" at the end of the finale, but on reflection I've decided it was actually brilliant. I may have to watch it again in a bit.

But... please tell me I'm not the only person who was thinking "goatse" when Starbuck was painting/seeing the nebula everywhere in Maelstrom?
