Mathelete: OK. First up, I think one problem here is that your barometer might be out of whack on what constitutes snark or goading. I think it might be quite hard to respond to you _without_ that response being interpreted as snark or goading on certain topics or in the case of certain people.
More generally, however, I think it can be said that often your contributions are reacted to with some species of irritation, and I think that this irritation may be something that needs to be allowed to dissolve over time.
As a parallel, take a look for a moment at Paranoidwriter - because the Policy is a serious section of the site, posts to it are generally taken seriously, rather than mocked or ignored. As a result, perhaps for the first time, PW found himself being taken seriously. This is a powerful drug, and it led to, essentially, camping. In the end, so much attention wasbeing directed to sorting out PW's incorrent or just incomprehensible assertions that patience was lost. I think there's a miniature version of that going on here.
So, were I to offer avuncular advice on this one, it would be to stay out of Policy and Help. Consider your record: no intervention of yours in Policy has ever been successful. The Juggernaut thread was not unlocked. Shadowsax was banned. Claris Dancers was also banned. Your attempts to bring clarity to the timeline and processes of Barbelith, passim, have required lengthy correction and explanation. Your intercession in your own banning thread planted for the first time in the ongoing discussion the idea that, actually, maybe banning you was not such an unlikely thought. This is not a happy hunting ground for you, and it seems profoundly unlikely that this will change. Your contributions help neither Barbelith nor you, and if you can stay out of Policy, I suggest you do so. If you cannot, I suggest that you ask yourself why you cannot.
That plus, as suggested in your banning thread, no descriptions of physically brutalised women would, I think, go a long way to helping out on the shortness you may be finding yourself on the receiving end of. If you feel that you are actually being harrassed, that's a different matter. However, there is no rule against people not liking other people on Barbelith, which will inevitably colour relations between them, as long as that dislike does not lead to actions that are unacceptable.
