Bagels or doughnuts? Mmmmmm. I would have to go with doughnuts from a purely happy memory stance. As a kid waking up on a saturday morning, floating blurry eyed into the front room to watch the cartoons as mum went about the housework, then being given a cheese salad and yellow pickle sandwich with a mug of tea and a doughnut (the sandwich and doughnut on the same plate so some of the sugar would get on the sandwich - mixing the sweat and savory, something I still do now maybe out of habbit, chocolate and ketchup, biscuits and homous, mmmmm) around the time that football based programmes were coming on.

Bagels didn't come until much much later in life.
