'swas nothing... I'm off to bed now, but I'll yell 'HI!' to you out the bus window on Thursday night as it passes through Syracuse (it's close enough to Albany, si?)

night!

That is the scariest puppet I have ever seen. He's so... so... huggly.

Make the bad puppet take his arms down, Mommy.

And so we see why barb ass-candling shouldn't be left to amateurs

Nobody told me I was candled by an amateur; a qualification-faking scoundrel! I demand an inquest!

*psst* you were good though tryph.

Evenin all....

Does anyone know where the most recent jobs thread is? You know people just looking for work...?

You go to Safeways, and you get a Jobs North paper. You silly boy. Then you get your ass back up somewhere sensible.

Yeah because it's not quite cold enough here in London... Don't you know how dangerous it is in Scotland didn't you see what happened to Barry?

The jobs not for me

Yep- its a whole lot of wilderness once you pass Gretna.
What do you do anyway, bear?

As much as I think its not very cool to go around with something that almost says "fuck" on your top, Im going to apply for a job in the new french connection shop in the eastgate, basically cause I think they'll take me, and with 145 other people after, erm, about 10 fulltime jobs in town, thats a decent-sounding prospect. Cant really remember how to write a CV though...

I think the important question here is is there a westgate, a northgate and a southgate? If so, you have pretty much a metropolis...

I'm sleepy. And tomorrow I must meet my old boss and then go to my flatmate's birthday party. And the day after it's another bleeding corporate jolly. Do these people never get tired of free scran and boozring?

At the office I used to work at, we had parties all the time, but we couldn't drink, because we were government.

I'm sorry you're sad Tryphena, and I'm sorry your eye hurts. -huggles-

I think they're buying a gate at a time... I saw the new centre last time I was back, well I saw a new brige connection. You shouldn't give out so many details bob, scary people might stalk you!

I work in software support, thrilling stuff - I was actually in a meeting today about moving all our work up to your town so there will probably be more jobs going there (and remember I get a grand if I suggest someone who gets employed) - If you think of one of the big IT firms there (the only?) that's who I work for....

Free booze and food can't be too bad Haus? Or is it at TGI Fridays

Not this time, thank God. They've hired a club. But for Heaven's sake... ice sculptures. Ice sculptures, I tell you. This is not the work of sane minds.

How's everyone tonight? Apart from *so* hot right now?

I'm shattered so I'm going to go off to bed but if anyone knows of any part time jobs in London about 20 hours a week (Cash in hand if possible) then can you PM me....sweeet...

Night all...

‘Place where I used to live had an Eastgate, but also a Cowgate and a Wormgate. Don’t ask me. It certainly wasn’t a metropolis, though. Quite the opposite.

Good evening, all. And goodnight to Bear.

I'm OK - tired. Off to bed soon. Would be in bed now (albeit possibly Barbeling on exciting new wireless connection) but for practical problems. Oh, and I just got paid for a job I did last year for a company I really thought I was going to have to hassle, which is nice. It's not much money but it makes my vague urge to consume a bit less vertiginous and sickening. I have actually found myself starting the day by browsing computer shops online. Must remember that spending a grand on a PC just to play Half-Life 2 is not a reasonable use of the Earth's limited resources.

I would like to go to bed, but flatmate has barricaded self in bathroom and appears actually to be having a bath. This is a strange and wrong use of the London flat. Hopefully flatmate will run out of places to scrub soon (being, in the manner of flatmates, constructed along a single plane) and I can brush my tiny toothy pegs...

blighty is much as you left it, only its been raining slightly more than usual.

Hmmm bear, I cant think of any big IT company, nor any reason they would employ me, cause Im a complete computer dunce- but say I went for an interview, miraculously got a job and worked my week or two notice... could we split the £1000? Not that Im trying to scam them or anything...

There should be an eastgate and a westgate, there being two part of it, straddling a road. But alas, only the eastgate and eastgate 2. Theres a Westgate in dundee I believe, though it may be further east than the eastgate. Wormgate sounds truly foul.

Night, to those of you with little lateshift-stamina.

Hang on....two eastgates makes no sense at all. Unless it is planning to be twinned with Minas Tirith and is working its way up.

Right. Night, all. See you after the junkets, like as not.

Jesus. Buncha lightweights.

So does this mean I don't get the chance to tell Haus that buying a new PC just for Half-Life 2 is PERFECTLY reasonable? Nay, laudable!

Wow, where are you Stoatie? Iceland? Boston? New York?

And does it merely rock, or does it rock hard?

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK
21:00 / 13.01.04
Someplace in Massachusetts... Mono's folks' house. Iceland rocked tons, New England rocks (went out hiking in the snowy woods yesterday... fucking mental!) and we're off to New York tomorrow! It's all fairly mad, actually, considering I rarely even leave London. (And I think someone's trying to tell me something on that score... of a mystery grab-bag of late Christmas presens offered by Mono's brother, the one I picked was a Japanese lucky stone thingy for luck in travel... then last night I opened a fortune cookie to find "You will travel all over the world". Weird.)

I am missing my dog, though. But I just got an email telling me she's being spoilt rotten by the friend who's looking after her, so that's cool.

I've got a bastard cold, though. But being on holiday more than makes up for that.

How've you been, BH? I've been missing out on the Late Shifts recently...

Baz Auckland
21:09 / 13.01.04
Where are you from BH?

What do you think of America so far Stoatie?

...I should be studying, but I just got Perdido Street Station, and I'm hooked by page 10 (the college lecturer living with a khepri has reeled me in...). So tonight will be The Ramones and reading instead.

Oddly enough, I was lucky to get the British edition from the library, as the North American edition is missing the prologue it seems! Odd, that...

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK

Loving it...

Ahh, Perdido Street Station... a finer skiffy novel it's hard to find. And believe me, if you think the first ten pages are good, it just keeps getting better. And weirder. Much weirder. (And then you've got the sequel, "The Scar", which is not quite as good, but has pirates in it. Lots and lots of pirates. Lots and lots and lots of pirates.)
Anyway, I'd better bugger off out of this lateshift so I don't hog Mono's dad's phone line all fucking day! Night!

Oh, bugger. I step out for a minute, and another one signs off for the night. Glad to hear you’re having a fabulous time though, Stoatie. Enjoy NY!

I’m English, I’m afraid Baz. Never even heard of Perdido St. Station, but with two such glowing recommendations like that I’ll have to give it a glance. Or two.

I'm here, just back from grocery shopping. Codfish, Swordfish, avocados, chicken, leeks, all kinds of things. Spent far too much money. Trying all kinds of new recipes this week, it's super keen!
