Todd, you're fabulously wealthy. Will you spring for the platinum hinges and diamond-studded clasp or what?

*jumps up and down at the thought of decorating a bit of the cover*

What about if whomever has the book to begin with (BK) rules lines to divide the cover up into the right number of squares, so we get one square each to decorate?

You know if I'd get my druthers (aint that a cool word? druthers..what I would rather..druthers) I'd love to have Tom do the cover seeing as how everything "Lithic is his fault. But thats juz me.

Mr Tricks
23:11 / 05.11.03
Maybe we should leave the cover until the book is complete... I'd hate for someone's efforts to be ruined amidst delivery.

As the pages will be scanned, what if some-one graphical Like TOM where to compose a cover based on those scanned images?

How about stickers, for the cover? A sticker for everywhere it's been... like travel stamps. And when both covers are as full as can be... we work our way on to the inner covers.

And...

Oh, I just had a special sticker in mind.

I think we should sign and date the inner cover/flyleaf when we get it, to provide an ongoing saga of where the book's been. Would it make it easier or harder if we had a theme? Would that inspire people or cramp their style?

I've been told that it isn't too late for me to get in on this.... May I be involved?

I think I'd prefer not to have a theme.

invisible_al
17:26 / 07.11.03
Yes to signing the inside cover and dating it, wiill look cool with everyone's signatures.
And I agree with Ariadne, no to a theme, let randomness prevail .

Saint Keggers
17:29 / 07.11.03
Yeah to the signing, nay to the theme

ok, then, everything's settled. I am sending it.

I know I said before that I was sending it, but I really am now, I'm truly very sorry! but I am adding something, very small and insignificant, to the thing. I hope you like it.

(am so very shy at this moment, so be kind)

Ariadne
19:45 / 07.11.03
Hurray, we've started! Thanks for that, bitchiekittie. And I'm sure what you've added is great. I'm pretty insecure about my own potential contribution and I'm sure lots of us feel the same way. But the finished product should be fantastic.

Would it make sence to start another thred devoted to the logistics of this project. Where it is currently, What its next destination is. As people jump onto the site it may be tricky making sure it spends as little time as possible in the mail.

Maybe simple posts like:

"____" just recieved it on X date in Y location and will mail it to "____" who is in "Z" location next . . . unless someone closer chimes in and says so

I've sent the book to NY, and started a new thread to log it's travels here

bit of warning, so I don't feel quite as embarrassed about my contribution: I have no artistic talents, not a whit, I just like to play with glue. nothing turned out the way I wanted it. whatever could go wrong, did. and I found that everything I wanted to include eluded me. and to top it all off, instead of my normal reliable glue, I invested in some pricier glue, which then proceeded to betray my trust and my investment by being crap.

also, I cut myself on a bit of metal I was using and, due to my body's talent for drama, bled everywhere....except on the notebook.

however, excessive whining aside, I really did have fun doing it. nothing like gluey fingers to make a girl happy.

Signing up very late, but if it's going to be being passed from hand to hand in London I have no excuse:

Firstly- do we have to send it by post or can we pass it by hand (I prefer post because of the stamps thing) and also I think, once it reaches the UK, it would be best to start in Southampton and then work up the country?

Quantum
11:07 / 11.11.03
Sounds about right to me (because I get it quickly then!)

I guess it should be pointed out that the book should at some point go back to Bitchiekittie, perhaps on its way to florida. As I understood it, she purchased it and mailed it but did not actually make use of her 2-4 pages, do to being somewhat shy. Is that still the case?

and is 2-4 pages correct in terms of individual alotments?

bitchiekittie

I did decide to contribute - lots of glue. I used the front and back of one page. I think it's only 90 pages.

I fedexed it, because I took too long and also because I like to track packages online. it's great fun, see? apparently they attempted delivery to an absent qalyn.
