And if Moriarty has it in Ottawa, then perhaps KwendeCentral should recieve it next.

KwendeCentral also resides in Ottawa.

Though I would understand if it was not snet as some sort of reprimand for reffering to myself in the third person every so often.

Sadly, I find this funny....

Hi. Sorry, I haven't stepped into this thread in awhile. Whenever the notebook is ready to be sent to Ottawa, will someone let me know via PM who I should give my address to? I'll be happy to pass it on to Kwendecentral afterwards, or he can take it first and pass it to me if he's ready to get to it.

So. Moriaty-in-Ottawa, PM your address to Keggers, he can pass it on to May Tricks next time he sees her in the real world, hopefully she’ll mail it without delay, and maybe we can get this damn thing moving again. It’s rotten being at the end of the list.

Not to be a tart about it, but if anyone else in the list isn't on the board any longer (or has not been actively involved with it recently) then perhaps we should omit them from this exercise?

Only it's an arse no-one being able to contact them via the board, and therefore all of us having to rely on the interaction of a few individuals IRL. (Not meaning to sound picky with you Keggers.)

I'd tend to agree.. though at this point I'm loosing quite a bit of faith in this project ever making it's full journey.

Rather than a wandering notebook it seems like a wandering whereit'sat notebook . . .

So have Kegboy and moriarty been in touch yet? I have to say I'm in agreement with the idea that in future we don't hand the notebook, or any other supposed Barbelith collaborative project, over to someone who has decided not be take part in Barbelith any longer: a certain degree of accountability seems to be lost...

Can anyone tell me whether it's easy for me to say, because my piece is done already, that you guys should take it easy already? There is a school of thought that suggests one should not get bitter over foreseen misfortunes. You're going to dry up all the happy.

Can't speak for anyone else but rather than bitter I'm rather disapointed by general inablity or perhap unwillingness to follow through with a collective "agreement." Now I'm sure we're all about as busy with life as each other and missing a deadline by a day or so is reasonable for a project that's more about "fun participation" but several pages ago was was agreed that we would not spand more than a handfull of days in possession of this item that belongs to everyone. What was it 5 days?
Since then as is typically apt to happen that extra day some-one has it becomes 2 becomes 3 becomes 5? becomes 9?

It's unfair to everyone who entered this project agreeing to a set deadline And particularly unfair to people who actually succeed in meeting said DEADLINE!

Isn't the point of the project a "WANDERING Notebook?"

Wouldn't it be better that it continue to move along at a steady pace so that people have an equal amount of time to spend on it?
It's not like these 3 pages have to be filled to certain specs . . . hell they could be 3 blank Zen pages...

what's put down on the page isn't owned by anyone in particular so there shouldn't (ideally) be any attachments or obsessing about getting those pages just right.

Why don't we obsess with getting the book out ontime?

Is there room for the last couple of people that have asked? Or given the page/person ratio, or just the time involved are we at maximum for this notebook?

Perhaps the only way to speed this damn thing up while still preserving the ‘happy’ for Qalyn would be to split the list into two books and race them, blue book vs red book. Which book will be best? Which will be first? Etc. Competition is always fun.

it wasn't a terribly big book....I'd ask whoever has it to give us the number of still-available pages.

another way to "preserve the fun", something we should be doing whenever possible, is scanning the pages. I'd really like to see what's been done so far, and I'm positive that I'm not the only one!

How do people feel about the possibility of doing what was done with the (admittedly even more slow moving) Chain Gang Mixtape, and starting another book which reverses the order of contributors? A good idea, or just too complicated to keep track of? I'm happy to buy a blank notebook myself...

That sounds good -it'd solve the problem of more pages than people as well as the whole 'it's laaaaaaaaaaaate' thing. Shouldn't be so hard to keep track of either (famous last words etc) if we just have another log for the 2nd notebook. It'd be within the UK for ages if we did just start at the bottom of the current list, so it'd be obvious which thread was for which book.

Well, I'm always happy to buy a new notebook, and will probably have the time to do so on Monday. If you particularly want to start it though toksik, then let me know, because I was counting on looking at other people's entries in the old one for inspiration...

Great. We start again on Monday then, hurrah! But, can we race them against each other, book versus book? In a joyful way, of course.

Right.

I might get my Creation Mod hat on for a brief minute here just to say that I really think we have enough people for the project this time around. If we acccept anymore the thing will grow Akira style and we will lose control of it completely and end up in Mixtape land.

I'd like to make a suggestion. I think that the initial book, which shall henceforth be known as the Red Book, should remain as the current list of people which Baz kindly created for us here. Check the list and if you're not on it you can join in on creating the new one.

The new book, the one going the other way around the world and which shall henceforth be known as the Blue Book can include all the other people who wish to be included but aren't on that list and in order to make life easier, what I propose is that we make a new list of Blue Book participants.

That way people on the initial list who may only want to play once don't have to add themselves, people who are itching to get their hands on at least one book can add themselves to the Blue Book list as well, and people who didn't get to join in with the Red one can also add themselves to the Blue one.

I propose to start a thread about the new Blue Book today if no-one has any problems with that, we can create a new list which is going the other way from the initial one and all the people who have expressed a wish to join in can add themselves to that list if they still want to. OK?

Also, it would be good now that the Red Book has a fair few pages if someone actually could scan what's been done so far. I think Moriaty has it, Moriaty, have you got a scanner? If you have, could you can scan the images and email them to me? I can make a place where we can all look at them. Or Baz can as part of his wandering notebook site, or whatever.

Only then people might feel more like they are part of the project. I know that some people who are participating don't want to see anyone else's work before they've done theirs, but there are lots of us who would like to see how it's going.

If Moriaty can't scan it who is next in line who can?

I should be able to, and I'm the next stop after Ottawa...
