No, the true source of all crustacean evil is, as any fule kno, the giant spider crab... its legspan can reach twelve feet. That's twelve of your earth feet.

ARGH.

I am going to bed, to dream of giant spider crabs.

I'm gp\oing to bed, probably to dream of laundry. Huggles, etc.

Which one you using? I think VICE is the one I use.

When you install it, you'll note that the "File" menu has an option that's called "Autostart a file", I think. You unzip the game you've downloaded so that you can see the game files (I forget the extension - basically unzip the zips you snagged from a games page) and choose it - it'll load it then.

More here. Without my incoherence.

Its still all greek to me.
It'll load and start running but then tell me to insert disk 2.

The Return Of Rothkoid
01:48 / 20.06.03
Ahhh. Try mounting the individual disc files (there's two, right?) in drives, and THEN try loading it.

Or send me a link to where you downloaded the game and I'll have a look when I get home tonight...

Yum, it's almost midsummer, it's almost harry potter, this time of year is the best and it's warm.

I think I'm a little excitable today.

The Return Of Rothkoid

Well. No pudding. But lots of wine. It's almost midnight and I feel maudlin.

There's something surprising for you.

Tomorrow's the shortest day of the year and I'll be spending it in a cemetery - well, to see the moon come up, at least.

The Return Of Rothkoid
13:04 / 20.06.03
Kegboy: it's easy. When it asks you to insert another disc, choose the "Attach disc image" option from the file menu. Stick pf1. whatever the extension is in there and press fire. Do that to swap to whatever discs you need...

The Strobe

Only moderately late... but just popping by. Good day: awesome lunch out someone else paid for, fun in the sun, a moderate amount of dossing in my room.

And a 2:1. In my degree. Hurrah. And 1 mark off a first for my paper with a big, big answer on comics... which I was quite good at.

Watched two episodes of Spaced series two, now off to bed... tomorrow, me and my friends go to the seaside for a barbeque. How lovely.

Happy Paleface.

Congrats Paleface!

the radio started going all staticky and then jumped from station to station ,after each word, for a few seconds. This is what it said. "Winston's baby an ancient destination with twice the fun". Then it returned to normal.

Should I just chalk this up as odd..or is there something more?

Good work Mr PF.
My friend got a 2:1 as well. Sadly unable to celebrate with them tomorrow due to big cashflow and distance problems, so am feeling a bit low. I suppose I should clarify that my friend is in fact also my girl.

Winston's baby an ancient destination with twice the fun
I don't know why, but this has kind of Quatermass Experiment type associations in my head...

Mazarine
23:39 / 20.06.03
Congratulations Paleface! Um... I don't know what 2:1 means, being American. But I'm presuming it's great!

Eloi Tsabaoth
23:41 / 20.06.03
2:1 was Paleface's betting odds. I had my money on Lucky Lucille at 5:1, damnit!

Saint Keggers

Whats the Quatermass Experiment?

Eloi Tsabaoth
23:54 / 20.06.03
Quatermass!

I must confess that I've only seen the second film, and none of the tv series as yet, but I'm trying, verdammit...

Odd... I guess im going to try and see if I can rent them somewhere...
Hmmm
Winstons are a type of cigarette and its baby could be cancer
The stars in the sign of Cancer could be the ancient destination in question and ttwice the fun could refer to either a double star or the fact that im a gemini and thus twice the fun. So it could be reminding me that in a past life I was froma double star in the sign of cancer. Or not.

Eh, never mind. My brother's pestering me to go watch Borstal Boy... which apparently unlike the original autobiography, the movie includes many a love scene...

The Return Of Rothkoid

Oh dear god. I went out, bought a PS2 (!!) and have since drunk many chocolate martinis.

I think the world is due to end soon.

Mazarine
14:32 / 21.06.03
At eight pages, so is this edition of the late shift. What games did you get, darling, and were the chocolate martinis tasty?

Its not late yet, but hell i dont care. Yesterday i saw the last guy i was with put under the ground. And it was the most horrible thing of my life. I've never seen so many people crying. We all clung onto each other, and didnt let go for hours. After all, look what happened when we let go of him. I sat, shaking violently, and thought i was gonna be sick in the church- Watching someone i was once so close to passing my left shoulder in a box. The day before, a few friends (who didnt know him) were saying "i know, i was hysterical at my grandmas/grandads/insert-old-relative-here's funeral" but this was so different. So much more tragic. I still have a scratch from being sandwiched between him and a tree. It lasted longer than he did.

So much can change in two weeks.

Rothkoid's Chocolate Martini Mix.

Chill martini glasses.
Take shaker. Add ice and:
6 large measures gin.
2ish measures dry vermouth
2 measures white creme de cacao.

Shake.

Pour into glasses. Makes two-ish. Three small or two and a bit massive.
Drink.
Fall over.
Repeat.

My brother rang this morning - he manages a bar - and I told him what I'd been up to last night and his only word, when I told him how I mixed 'em, was "Dude!", so I was happy.

As for games? Well, I've got a couple from when my brother had a PS/1, ones that came from work. (At this point, can I say that Toy Story Racing is the best thing ever when drunk?) But yesterday, I got the first Metal Gear (because I never completed it), Red Faction, Half-Life (because my current PC is too shit to run it properly) and Soldier Of Fortune: Gold Edition. Dear god, is that last one violent. Eesh. But y'know - it's early days yet. Got a DVD player prog that lets me play my UK DVDs in the thing, too, so that's helpful. Games were, except for Half-Life, which was discounted, second-hand games. It's the way to go - $40 (for PS/2 ones, anyway) versus about $90? Thanks very much!

But dear god am I kinda poor now. Ahem. I am feeling relatively headache-free now, though this could be because I drank gallons of water before I went to bed.
