I have work to do - must stop wasting time looking for a picture of Lady Heather so's that everyone can see how lovely she is. And a worthy role model too, dagnammit....

She also played the substitute teacher that everyone got the hots for in smallville.

Pshaw! I was up at 5. Still.

BUT. I had the best night last night; the housewarming party worked pretty well. I had a good time, actually felt like I can handle social events, had big hair, was given copies of books by Sartre, Eagleton and someone else, writing on geriatric rockers, as belated birthday presents, and I worked the room. Much fun ensued, incredible amounts of alcohol were consumed, and I discovered that Chez Smooth can hold about forty people in its lounge-room, with all that that entails. Am feeling very contented today, which is a nice change from the norm.

And I'm possibly going out tonight. So... tis good.

Bleh. On-call from home, and 'Big Brother' induced insomnia until almost 2am, then advice call from SHO on what to do with suicide-threatening self-harmer. Doze off, then another call at 3am - SHO wanting me to arbitrate in 'whose responsibility' type spat with surgical counterpart. Fall asleep again, then realise my 'phone's been buzzing repeatedly for 15 minutes: they want me to come in before 8am to fill in a fuckingarsewittery form that needs to be completed by then.

'Zombie Dawn' stumble from bed to bath to Tube to hospital. Get there at 7.45am to find well-rested-looking consultant sitting filling in form; ward staff inform they asked me to come in too "just in case the consultant didn't get here in time". Smile, though I want to shit in my hand and copiously smear all concerned.

Spend way too long on the toilet. The single vodka & Red Bull I unwisely risked yesterday evening is fucking my shit up.

I am in love with the world.

I am having a great day so far, went to the farmers market, which was cool, even if it was closing when I got there. One o’clock? Have these people even heard of capitalism? Wandered up to Sloane Sq. Smiled at all those attractive, well dressed older women that you seem to find in the rich areas of town. Suppressed the urge to walk down the Kings Road, but didn’t suppress the urge to have a few pints in a pub on Pimlico road, watching the world go by.
Anyway, I urge everybody here to find their local farmers market and shop there. Now all I need to do is figure out how to cook the rabbit I bought. More on that later.

Kinda like Monopoly after everyone's bought all the properties.

UK just scored nothing in the Eurovision Song Contest.

Political?

Perhaps - but also a contributing factor was surely the fact that Jemini did to music what the Hulk does to people who make him grouchy.

We lost the Euroviz? Good show; probably couldn't afford to host next year's after all the dosh we've blown sucking up to Dubya (we take him out, wine him, dine him, go halfsies on a big shiny war, and he's still cheating on us with that Aznar slut *sniffle*). How's little Beth doing, BTW?

At least Tom Waits understands me. On a downtown train to where? I hate and love you all in equal measure. I am also drinking red wine from a white wine glass! Something is wrong in the universe, but I don’t have the answer.

Hey Panarchy! Ah yes, "hate and love in equal measure" the balance of collapsing polarized concepts into a unity: hate is love is love is hate--and all that.

Me, well, it's about 5:30, there's a b-ball game on at 6:00, and I woke up at 4:00 after going to bed at 10:30 this morning! Whoo!

There are two girls sitting on my left having a drastic argument about the narrative of their project. I'm trying to ignore it and consequently am sooo eavesdropping.

Why didn't t.A.T.u. ride in on tanks and destroy the patriarchy? I feel cheated.

Can someone explain to me how Israel actually beat Russia into, you know... Europe. The continent with Russia in it, and Israel out of it?

Anna, are you in a public place then?

And, are they having a reasonable argument, or do they both sound like they're making much ado about nothing? I will trust your judgment upon these matters!

Is life a narrative or just a sequence of random abstract events? These are the problems I am struggling with.

If there could be a "final analysis" (after all is said and done), I don't know if there would be a perceivable difference between the two.

Hey Panarchy, you know what strikes me as interesting? Last year around this time I was totally humming on the Surreal 1/2 Hour thread, but when you started the new Surreal thread awhile back, I simply couldn't seem to get back into that sort of headspace or writing style. I find that, in some ways, odd.

Are you two on drugs? No seriously, are you on drugs? Drugs are really bad for you, you need to get off them now, you need to go in to rehab. (Sorry, flourescent light hurting my brain in computer room.)

There can be only one Tank Girl _pin.

They sounded unreasonable. I thought one of them was going to cry but now they're calmly talking about protagonists so I guess it wasn't that serious.

I remain awake. But as it is a scant 7:42 pm, that is only marginally surprising. Anna, if one of them goes into the ladies room, you should follow her, and sugest the argument might best be solved by the strategic use of a cream pie to the face of the other. Then no one, ever, anywhere, could blame you for eavesdropping.

Time? Simply? Started? Around? The magic is still in ones fingertips.

Sorry if you found my comment unhelpful, Panarchy! I guess what I might be tryin' ta say is that, to quote ole Chuckles Manson, "Now is the only thing that's real." By that I guess I mean that in the moment we order our experience, which might be the mere grouping of random and abstract events, but through that grouping we create the appearance of a narrative. Maybe?

And no Anna, while I can't speak for Panarchy, I'm not currently on any drugs other than a touch of caffine and nicotine. Later, though, I plan on smoking some pot!

That would be amusing but at 1am I doubt they could find a cream pie. Arguer 1 is now whining about a man... how tedious, the earlier argument was far more fun.

"The magic is still in ones fingertips."

That's funny because I was thinking that after I wrote that post, when I went out for a cig and some Dr. Pepper. I thought, "Those posts for the Surreal 1/2hr effortlessly poured out of my fingertips." Perhaps I am merely ignoring or being neglectful of that part of "magic"?

Damn. If they could find a key lime pie, that'd be even better. That might sting. Or if they had a fight with hot wings. Those are really messy. And the bones would hurt.

I just saw a guy on QVC trying to demonstrate the effective ness of a pair of scissors which they're selling, and I think he just broke them trying to cut through a seam on a pair of blue jeans. They cut away from him pretty quickly.

Anna, is it soemthing like this:

Arguer 1: "And, (sob), he didn't even call me the next day. He doesn't appreciate me anymore. I don't know why I bother."

Arguer 2: "There-there, girl--shut up!"

?

Here they are: People in grass houses shoud'nt throw stones; there are such things as public lice. A baby was recently mauled by a log. I once spent several minutes trying to figure out what was meant by “working in Paris”.
