Wisdom teeth: some wisdom:
Peeling back the gum is normal procedure, you won't even notice it. I had mine done under general and was terrified they'd be levering them out with pliers and scar the roof of my mouth, so I asked the guy before he did it "look, what are you going to do?". Basically, they peel down the gum, drill the tooth out from the bottom up, splitting it if necessary. It's all clean and the gum rolls back no probs.
I had all four out, they weren't overcomplicated but weren't exactly perfect given they needed out, and in a week I'd recovered from the anaesthetic and was onto every solid known to man. Hell, I was eating normally pretty much from day one, just slightly slower than normal, and the swelling really isn't so bad. You just go slowly - and realise that your wisdoms are so far back you never really know them.
The new thing is IV; it's a bit stronger than local, but you stay conscious and alert, just not aware of pain. I was offered that. I chose local. And a mouth full of bloody rags afterwards.
Oh, and watching Power Rangers Time Force on general is so much fun. Trust me. |
