Haus, what can I say? Greater love hath no man. I'd offer you my undying coffee services but you only get those when actually in the office...

Chadwick minor will be on your doorstep tomorrow morning wearing nothing but a smile and a large silk bow.

Well, I may drop in tomorrow. Will almost certainly be around Friday. Keep the coffee warm and the linseed oil warmer.

Scanners just keep getting more and more erotic. So who's got snow?

The Return Of Rothkoid
01:59 / 24.10.02
Not me. All I got is dust-storms (yesterday: no kidding) and bushfires.

Bushfires already.

It's not even summer yet.

There's a good chance I may burn to death this year. Nice.

no snow here now..but my cousin who lives just 2 hours away sent pictures of the snowman his kids made...its slowly creeping up this way. (the snow I mean, not the snowman)

Give it a chance - most kids forget to give 'em legs and this slows them down.

We got a bit of snow last night and this mornin' in Albany, but it was gone by afternoon. The weatherfolk say there may be more in the next six days. But Albany's weird- when I visited in June, before I moved here, I saw torential downpour, temperate sunshine, hail, and (I think) snow all in one four hour timeblock. And I thought New England was weird.

"Give it a chance - most kids forget to give 'em legs and this slows them down"

Wow..I can just see it Night of the Living Dead Snowmen..no frosty! no!

Well, time for me to go to bed, if I'm going to be fit to kind of work tomorrow. Orr, Keg, Roth, sleep tight.

G'night RGM, wherever you are!

Just checking in before I toddle off to bed. Got back from seeing Spirited Away, feel all happy and child-like inside, but am also super-tired and scared of crapness of my work situation. And parents are here at the moment, so need to spend time seeing them.

Shush. Calm Paleface. Off to bed.

I just saw a scanner on sale for forty dollars. I'm going to check around online, see if it's any good, and if it is, I may have my own scanning stories to share...

So who else is up, and whatcha doin'?

I keep taking breaks here from my paper. It's getting done, but oh so slowly. I keep trying to use HTML tags to italicise titles. I hate myself. What have I become?

Linus Dunce

As long as you don't try to [a href=...] to your footnotes you should be OK. Most of my lecturers I think were closet geeks who would have been entirely au fait with tags.

And thinking about my own late-night essay adventures with a 10-year-old PC running Wordstar, it's not so weird.

The Return Of Rothkoid

HTML essaying bad.

Distraction good... but bad.

Work. Indifferent.

Insomnia - tastic. After my scanoddyssey of last night, I have more scanning to do - yay! - though much less, blessedly, and have spent the day helping my sister look at laptops.

And then a 2 1/2 hour Sapphire and Steel ORGY.

Which was nice.

Hell, yeah.

Work. Got laid off Monday morning. My ex-colleagues want me to go for a Friday night drink with them tomorrow. I think I'd like to hang out with them one last time, but would it be sad (pathetic) to turn up?

Asda Rioja, £2.98 a bottle, best. :-)

Mazarine
23:43 / 24.10.02
KKC- I sympathize. I lacked wordprocessing software (aside from wordpad and notepad) and wound up using a piece of German language freeware with a tendency to crash in mid save, leaving behind nothing. And footnotes are just pure ibid.y evil.

Linus Dunce
23:46 / 24.10.02
Bulk scanning can be OK if you can get into the groove. OCR though, that is torture. Makes me want to learn to touch type.

I'm just desperately trying to stuff all the things I glanced at briefly in them to make it look as if I've read more than I actually have.

Ignatius - yeah, go along. I went along to a drinks things after I left my last job and they gave me chocolate and a bottle of perfume which was rather sweet.

The Return Of Rothkoid
23:47 / 24.10.02
Ignatius: nah. Go along. Make them pay for drinks.

Haus: insomniac "hell yeah"s and condolences. Have been there for the past couple of weeks. Though without the benefit of S&S, which I've never seen. Like The Prisoner.

I'm missing out. Sigh.

Thanks -- free drinks/presents -- I think I'll go.

Must....write. Inspire me.

But this is cheating. It's not late here.

well its only 10:37pm here...as for inspiring you...what context?

I'm still up, and it is quite late here... I think I've written about six words in the last hour, and subsequently deleted half of them... even the happy student playing his guitar across the quad has gone to bed, woe is me.

Sorry, not very inspiring... chiz moan drone

Mazarine
01:43 / 25.10.02
If I only came on the late shift when it was actually late in my time zone I'd never get to talk to anyone and I'd never get to work in the morning. Wait, no, I'd have to come home early from work in the afternoon.

Mazarine
01:43 / 25.10.02
What are you writing about again, Kit-Kat?

Trijhaos
01:45 / 25.10.02
What exactly constitutes a late shift anyway? Never having had a job (Bastards just don't know quality workers when they seem them), I'd assume it'd be some godawful thing like Midnight until 8 AM.

I thought it was 11-7.

I'm doing a bibliography paper (longish essay, I suppose, but calling it a paper makes me feel like a proper graduate student an t'ing) on the historiography relating to English attitudes towards the Dutch and Anglo-Dutch relations in general, 1680-1720. So, yes, fascinating...

I think it would actually be easier if I knew how to write a bibliography paper.

Late-ish here. Buses will stop running before long. Must wrap up the studying (where studying=cramming down several weeks worth of reading on the night before the exam). Why am I here? Proooooocrastination, my friends. Give me scads of time to complete a task and I will squander it all, w/the exception of the smallest crumb at the tail-end, wherein I become like a god of knowledge absorption/expulsion. Just imagine all of the shit I'm going to get done in my last few moments of life. It's gonna fucking rock!

Deric just described my college life to a T...just add guinness and baileys cheesecake.
