That's not water damage, it's clearly some sort of interdimensional invasion! Have you tried communicating?

I must say, it's nice to date a good old-fashioned Christian gal who doesn't seem to mind that I occasionally cut or burn myself for "religious reasons". I never know how well that one's going to go over.

I've sent a pitch to a really big magazine. I have no relevant experience in the field (religious iconography in popular culture) other than I know a lot about it. I have never been published before. I am complete unknown.

Shockingly, I've got a reply. It was:

Interesting. Let me get back to you

What does that mean? Is it, as the words would suggest, a sign of interest? Or am I being fobbed off.

It was three minutes ago, so maybe I shouldn't be panicking this much already. But it just seems insane that a national magazine's editor is entertaining the idea of publishing my work.

I'm just being silly aren't I.

He might actually get back to you. If he wasn´t interested, why answer and not just delete your mail?

Princess

You are right!
But now I am excited. Which is just as bad.
I think I'm just going to sit in front of my inbox pressing F5 until the answer comes.

Also, I'm in talks with a webzine about becoming a regular columnist. Not quite so fancy, but still COOL.

Hey, Princess, probably best not to spend the rest of the week hitting F5, but, you know, have confidence. It's not unreasonable to assume that someone could be interested in your work. Most of the published writers that I know were shocked and thrilled when they broke through the wall. The truth is, though, they all had the talent and someone inevitably noticed.

Keep it up whether this guy gets back to you or not.

Also, from my own esperience with the publishing industry (and if you are not an absolute beginner, I'm sure they are similar to yours), "let me get back to you", and you're not a journalist with a big scoop, chances are it may take a while for them to get back at you. It is no reflection of your work, they are probably just too busy with finishing this month's issue or something to that effect.

go enjoy the rest or your week!

Megatron's on the money - it means the editor is interested in what you're doing, but what you're doing isn't helping hir get the current deadlines met. So once things settle down (if it's a weekly, then after that deadline, if it's a monthly, then after *that* one, if it's a daily, heck if I know) you should be getting a note. Or, if you happen to know when that deadline might be, you can feel free to "touch base" (ick) after it.

Ah, I might stop with the anxious clicking then.

In other news: I've just been asked to submit my first post for a really cool blog about gender stuff. If they like it, which I'm pretty sure they will, then I'll have a regular column on the subject of queer religion.

Hooray!

If it does not give you a happy you are broken inside and I feel sadness and a slight distaste.
