In a club on Saturday night with my girlfriend, she accidentally headbutted me while dancing, and despite being in agony and having blood streaming down my face, I thought it was really funny.

happy trail meaning a line of hair down the center of the belly, running southward from the navel?

saw a seventy year old man today wearing one of these, looking completely serious:

but the thing that made really happy was that it was a Winnie the Pooh umbrella hat

So the 'happy' in benfoxdance's example is presumably to be gained from the knowledge that through not being entirely hairless (like a child, a smooth child), this girl avoided any further romantic pursuit from benfoxdance?

Yes, that gives me a happy too.

Discovering that I am eligible for a library card. This means they lost the records of that book I checked out in 1986 and failed to return. Using my new library card to check out Moacyr Scliar books I've been looking for forever. Finding a floor on the library not permeated by intense body odor.

A friend has justed posted in her lj, with links to 3 Fundamentalist Christian websites attacking an academic paper she gave as fostering perversity and evil and reminding us of the depths to which man plummets when he departs from God's way.

Hurrah for her!

Even better:

"Banning hunting is a great idea.Once the lovely little foxes are left to run riot they'll be invading the countryside, they'll work their way to the towns, they'll spread disease, start to become bold enough to walk the streets in daylight raiding bins for food, eating pet rabbits, attacking small children.Rabies will soon be back and the foxes will be kind enough to help to spread it.They'll just be like huge rats.Vermin of the worst kind. But hey, thats what the do gooder city dwellers want so let them have it.They'll soon start to cry when they wake up to find foxes have been in thier gardens spreading rubbish, disease and eating their precious pets."

They will eat your children and your pets. Oh yes.

My football team just won! 6-0!! And I scored!!! TWICE!!!!!

May not sound great but in the ten or so years that I have been playing, for the all the 6 or 7 teams that I have played for, in all the hundreds of games that I have played, I have never scored. Ever. Not once.

Had a few jars in a gay internet bar on the way home from seeing Open Water. How lovely to see the back of all those fashionably attired heads, all in a row, checking their Gaydar accounts, as we supped.

Easy to spot the stray straight man who came in and was lookin at furniture online. A moment to file away next to my first gay ceilidh, when a hundred gay men in kilts danced with each other.

How the world has changed in my time! Gives me a sense of everything heading the right direction and, thusly, a big happy. Just have to avoid watching the news when I go home, I guess.

Ooooohyesssss! There are lots of super things things to eat here, but I must confess a nostalgic pang when I think of halloumi. Do you grill it? I hope you grill it. Consuming halloumi ungrilled is pure sacrilege.

Well, Deva...maybe Mordant is very happy about cheese and the rush she gets from gambling with it. I bet that gives her a happy. In that case, I bet she got a happy from my last post in this thread.

Hmm, Limburger? That is quite rich. Perhaps though, that is rather Epoisses de Bourgogne. It is a bit subtle.

Nothing like a good cheese. Gives me a happy, indeed.

It makes me squeal with happiness. It is so tiny! And so spiny!

Yeah Deva! Don't you be oppressing us! How is *that* a happy?

MC: I will see your fried-in-breadcrumbs-camembert and raise you a whole brie, drizzled with white wine and rosemary, baked in its case till melty and sizzling. Eaten straight from the containers with spoons and crusty bread.

So I think *I'll* take those chips, thankyou very much.

No, no...Really, I have this happiness to share:

A little redecorating and rearranging of furniture. Amazing how good it can make one feel, kickin' up some dust.

And I am sick today, but that can't stop me!

I got a letter in the mail with my thesis results yestiddy. I got a pretty absurdly good mark. But the most happy thing? One of the examiners, the people who read the thesis and comment on it, was someone who used to teach at my old university, who I'd really wanted to work with. I had the biggest crush on her. She'd offered to supervise me once, but I didn't go back to uni until she'd left for New Zealand.

Anyhow, yesterday I just sat there for a while with the letter, not daring to read the actual report. Until I did, and realised she'd said some very nice things indeed. Including the phrase, "My admiration of this thesis is made all the larger by the fact..." Er, um. Still speechless. She admires it.
