Me.

I give me a happy at the moment.

Ah, yes, self satisfaction.

My happy? I got one of them new alarm clocks with the CD player inside which means I can wake up to angry, shouty, Bone Machine Tom Waits every single morning.

This is more weirdly satisfying and/or peculiar that it ever happened than giving me a happy exactly.

Someone recognising me by my voice from the radio.

While I had a throat infection (as long as ze didn't mean they thought I was the zombie corpse of Tommy Vance of course).

In town I just got a copy of Strategies Against Architecture 1 by Einsturzende Neubauten for a mere £9 in HMV, and I also got a great, green leather jacket for £15, second hand.

Today I am mostly buying bargains.

And as a bonus, the cat's going mad with the plastic bag, which is really amusing.

So I'm reading all these 'I'd like to join Barbelith please' emails, and I'm just really excited about the people we're drawing.

I dunno - I love the 'how did you find barbelith' parts of their emails. They're finding us through weird links to bizzarre, obscure discussions we've had. And they're clicking around, and checking out the board, and what they see is appealing.

And I think that barbelith's ability to attract such a diverse and intelligent and wordy bunch of people is terrific. The one thing I see mentioned most often is that they like barbelith's sense of community and the quality of its discussions.

And I guess I'd forgotten how cool a place this is, and how psyched I am to be a part of it.

They're filming Dr. Who a few hundred metres from my house.

How cool is that?

Gah, you swine!

Just back from BiFest in Brighton, even without staying for the aftermeet disco that was a fun day.

I am insomniac, adrenaline-ridden and fucking happy. I did something amazing yesterday. Something that I'd never have believed that I could do.

I have a whole new aspect on my life, capabilities and talents.

And oh my god, I am, and this is e'er so rare, FUCKING proud of myself.

I'm sorry, but I AM going to copy and paste this from another thread, and subject you all to it twice.

***********************

Yesterday was BiFest.

I had a wonderful wonderful team, but this was my project from start to finish. MINE.

It was *wonderful*.

We were hoping for 40/50 people. At one point last week I seriously thought that it might have been 20.

We got 130!!!

A complete mix of Brighton and national bi scenesters, and a huge number of local people who'd never been to a bi event before.

And our wonderfully supportive Pride reps. Who were amazed/thanking me.

I know how lifechanging my first bi event was. I think I may have worked some of that magic yesterday. little old me. wtf?

I feel today, like I did the best pills ever last night.

I'm a bit fragile, happily emotional and my cheeks hurt from smiling almost constantly for 14 hours.

I am SO FUCKING proud of myself.

See also:

-the first bi event I ever heard of and attended was only 3 years ago.
-our bi group is only two years old.
-my team was mainly drawn from those sources.
-I 'ran' my team in a very different way to the two other Bifest organisers. I did it in MY way. And it bloody worked.
-none of us had ever done this before.
-from deciding to do it to yesterday=2 1/2 months.

(ok. no more duplicated posts. No biscuit for GGM)

You go, GGM. Well fuggin' done.

I got a happy on finding that my reasoned and cutting response to an editorial in Friday's paper has been published in today's paper. The only edit made was to spell out "Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act" where I had writted "FISA". So huzzah!

Ah, I open his thread thinking about something else, but the GGM triumph is still aceness itself.

Also, what I came here to say, this is making me quite ridiculously happy on a miserable wintery evening: Echobelly on Youtube.

(...aaand simply replace “echobelly” with “The Smiths,” “David Bowie,” “Dumpy’s Rusty Nuts,” etc for your own tiny little happy-making window into a sunny pop past, obv.)

Little kids literally screaming with delight as they watched Daleks roam Brighton seafront.

A joy to behold.

Took Sheena for a walk this morning, she was going mental playing with all the other dogs as usual... then this guy whose dog she's having a great time with comes up and says "is this your dog? Only I gave away a puppy looking just like that not long ago". Turns out HIS dog was Sheena's mum! (And on a more practical level, it was quite reassuring that her mum wasn't too huge!)

It was TEH 5Qu33.

Admit it, you were screaming too. Possibly from fear.

Alright! I'm up! I am so very up this morning!
Yeah, I'm heading to a class actively designed for kids too stupid for college anyway but I am up because it's a Nick Cave crescendo morning!

Venezuela's Hugo Chavez telling Condoleeza Rice: "Don't mess with me, girl."

I have visions of him wagging his finger and doing that side-to-side head wobble thing as he said it. I look forward to his version of Evita: "Don't mess with me, Condoleeza..."
