it would actually be cool if the boston police found a john doe, and decided it was arthur blake, then started investigating us.

"So, Mr. Zoom, what can you tell me about Minty Fresh?"

"Ah, Mr. Trijhaos, you were the last man to see Arthur alive..."

Elijah, Freelance Rabbi

that would be muy muy screwed up, but a credit to us as writers

"It was horrible officer...Arthur's eyes never stopped moving; his skin usually pale was downright translucent, and he jumped at every small sound...my god, that poor man...."

So if we've got ideas for a journal entry, but know we probably couldn't keep the voice consistent, who should we send the idea to?

Post it here.

On the previous matter, it might be wise if we could tip people off subtly to the fact that this isn't actually happening. I've been having visions of Headline News stories about "an irresponsible group of hackers who set up an elaborate hoax" "fifteen people jumped out of their car windows, convinced that 'the Great Old Ones had risen to eat the moon like a ripe plum.'"

Heh. That'd be a neat way to get Barbelith in the spotlight. The wrong kind of spotlight, but spotlight nonetheless.

Would it be possible to put little clues pointing towards the fact that it's all a work of fiction in the entries where it starts to get weird.

Don't. The idea was that the readers are left in the dark about the fact that this is actually fiction. If the cops investigate then it's even better. Cuz either they'll figure out the truth or they'll stumble upon an actual Lovecraftian conspiracy.

So, no hints please!

Also to get more readers you (Zoom/Art) should put urban exploration on your interests list.

I was listening to some bootsy Collins when the idea hit me about funk classics.

The problem with blogs is that there's no easy way to get people to read it while if you post on a livejournal, your livejournal could be found by people searching for similar interests.

I always had the feeling Arthur was a bit of a square when it comes to music.

On both of them being "into" butterflies, I think Minty's interest is more poetic, while Arthur's a bit of clinical scientist. A bit anal/obsessive.

gridley

so, arthur is a big fan of say... Corey Hart?

I can't remember how I chose the friends on his list specifically, but I think they all liked black & white animals. Penguins and pandas.
Or were lepidopterists.

On the library Arthur works for, it could be a private collection, or it could be that he works for a research institution attached to a university. There are more colleges in Boston than you can shake a stick at.

And Arthur seems geeky enough to not want to share details about it online, for fear of violating contract or some such thing.

logos wrote rather than having Art break through a wall in the library, why not have him do a lot of Urban Exploration-type things....

Um, folks...? Folks......?

Just wondering whether you've happened to check out the "White Spider" thread over on "Laboratory".

That's a kinda creepy picture in there. Maybe you can work a few of those in as well. I'm enjoying this thread tremendously, by the way.

how prevalent is the cthulu mythos in brazil? if its not very (IE no role playing games or plush toys) than it shouldnt give anything away really

in the states we need to be more carefull...

So, how will Arthur gain a slow twisted initiation into the dark bowels of insanity? Uh.. I mean..

How are we gonna start the Lovecraft vibe? Breaking through a wall in the library seems kinda strange to me cuz a.) how would Art break through a wall and b.) It's unlikely that there's will be a hidden room with no entrance. I think a better idea would be that Arthur gets interested in a subject, like butterfly collecting or maybe foreign places and stumbles upon a book misplaced. This book will be the first Lovecraftian thing to happen and will be the gateway to the rest of the macabre, eldritch events.

if anyone reads stephens most recent (well aside from the southpark pic and whatever i put up later today...) i segued into a bit of outer church/lovecraft vibe in the form of a sleep dep vision, i think starting slowly would be a better plan, make him start having strange nightmares BEFORE he finds the book

or not i suppose...

I'm strongly considering mentioning this book in passing. Maybe just include the author in a list of German metaphysicians blake is filing currently.

Whatcha think?

I think Stephen would have to be on LiveJournal as well to be on Arthur's friends list....
