Is there still anyone about?

I've had about four hours sleep in the past three days, literally, and everyone keeps buying me drinks and now I've flown cross-country without noticing a lot of it, and have to be intelligent or posey in an intelligent-like manner tomorrow morning.

I feel young and productive again, even if I seem to be getting very little done.

I actually feel like Bubblegum Crisis. 'Tis true. I may look like Mackie, but I feel just like Priss... to steal the framing of a Dylan lyric.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
01:19 / 30.01.08
I prefer Pris from Bladerunner, darling.

Long time! Where have you been? Why didn't you write?

I'm rereading Seven Soldiers and grooving on the purpleness of the FRANKENSTEIN! prose. Going to be working on a story in a few minutes.

This Sunday
01:30 / 30.01.08
I just had the maddest urge the other day to reread 7 Soldiers, but alas, I haven't any of it near me. And now that I'm in NYC it's all even farther away.

The recent lack of 'lithing ('Lithing? Why not?) has been a confluence of crap internet access, a dying laptop, and insane busy work combined with trying to be that good friend that's there for everyone, despite the fact I'm generally useless when it comes to people's lives, habits, and romances turning sour.

And I noticed Granny got awkwardly critical of me (or some of my posts) while I was gone, which is always fun. Or not.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
01:33 / 30.01.08
Granny also got a small shitstorm of attention, so I wouldn't worry about it. The lith needed some fresh drama, apparently.

What's your work situation at the moment? As in; are you allowed to, with the strike? Or was in un-screen stuff?

Do reread Seven Soldiers when you have the opportunity! I actually think FRANKENSTEIN may have surpassed Zatanna as my favourite. For the moment. They kind of rotate through the books.

Oh, but Shining Knight--!

This Sunday
01:37 / 30.01.08
Doing mostly prose stuff, and lots of caption work. I feel a bit of an idiot doing caption work, especially for things I don't really feel or can't particularly groove on, but the need for pay's inspiring me to really find the angles I can appreciate.

And helping people, for very light money, work on personal-type scripts, which is generally allowed. It's mostly just the big studios and major names that are no-no at the moment.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
01:40 / 30.01.08
Ah. It must be a really awkward strike to deal with, considering all the exceptions possible, and the fact that you can stop people feeling creative.

Which is a lame statement, but whatever.

Missed you on the shift.

I'm back to my weird bayou horror reworking of Rumplestiltskin from, like, a year ago. It's going well.

This Sunday
01:45 / 30.01.08
Yo! Sounds good.

Did hotel detectiving lizard-hand-monkey-sex story ever wrap itself up or is it still out there, floating about to be attended to later on in life?

For that matter, I seem to remember you having your own solidarity forever, solidarity... work complications. Did those ever get sorted?

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
01:51 / 30.01.08
No. We live in this weird Library Work-to-Rule Hell. No negotiation, and the union would prefer not to be locked out walk out -- for some reason, they think we can achieve something without actually, you know, doing anything. We just withdraw services.

Hotel Detective's back-burning for the moment. Much like the bayou story was, but now I've resurrected it, finally.

Though I just thought of a story about creepy possessed Teletubby dolls, and one about Marie Antoinette as Frankenstein-mended undead assassin queen.

This Sunday
02:19 / 30.01.08
We just withdraw services.

This'd make a great business card, y'know?

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
02:21 / 30.01.08
Awesome, as mottoes go.

What are you prosing right now?

This Sunday
02:28 / 30.01.08
Vignettes linking various characters from different stories/books in a small press's catalog, for their website. It's actually kind of fun to see how close I can mimic dialogue tendencies/styles and mash things together, but, unfortunately, I haven't actually read some of the works, just had the things described to me.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
02:32 / 30.01.08
Style mimicry is a lot of fun.

I should do some writing, but I'm not feeling motivated yet. Why do I always work best late at night?

This Sunday
02:42 / 30.01.08
I find late at night's easier to get time on my own. Eventually, even if your with someone, they generally go to sleep eventually. When you're with people in the day, that's not how it goes, so you're spending time focusing on, well, them; people.

I feel like an absolute an ass even trying to (or thinking about) kicking someone out of my life/attention/immediacy because I've got a deadline or responsibility to bills and stuff, so I don't. More than I shouldn't, really. So late night or, like now, when I'm traveling and no one I know's around, is when I can let myself heavily submerge into a creative space and the like.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
03:56 / 30.01.08
Okay; there we go. I feel, at ten o'clock, like putting fingers to keys and working at this story. I'm in the guts of the thing -- meaning comes later.

Whenever it's done and I start reviving this draft, I'm cutting out every single instance of "wet."

This Sunday
00:15 / 31.01.08
Hello world!

I'm trying to figure out what to read tomorrow, and pretend as though I like the sound of my own voice until I believe it. (I like the sound of my own writing, 'tis true, but voice? Ugh! Ick!)

How're y'all tonight, then?

Saint Keggers
00:25 / 31.01.08
ugh...'y'all'.
-shudders-

Horrid. I turned on Lost and there are subtitles?..a running commentary? I dont know what, but they were written by and for idiots. Grrr.

This Sunday
00:36 / 31.01.08
I'll have you know that y'all is a vital part of my daily (and nightly) vocabulary.

Could be worse. My grandmother's fond of '...Y'all, eh' and variations.

I must ask, however impossible a smooth transition is: How'd that mural ever turn up? The Disney one.

Saint Keggers
00:42 / 31.01.08
Well they loved it. I dont think the baby does though. I think she's traumatized because of it. All she does is scream and go for a bottle. (wow. It's like a little Me!)

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK
00:44 / 31.01.08
Hello all. Think I've melted my brain by watching 3/4 of an hour's worth of leaked Scientology video...

...gotta be ready to do my Anonymous part, but BOY is the research draining.

Saint Keggers
00:46 / 31.01.08
OH! So you're Annonymous! I was worried it might have been me.

This Sunday
00:48 / 31.01.08
Nothing like driving a baby to the bottle to make one feel worthwhile.

I think I'm going to wrestle some canned chili into a pan and try to make it edible in a bit here. 'A bit' to be read as: whenever I can convince myself I'm not actually so lazy as to sit across the kitchen looking at the can while not even trying to lean forward in my chair and psychically open it, heat it, and spoon it into my mouth with faith, prayers, and little Jimmy Swaggerty angels.

This Sunday
00:50 / 31.01.08
Fuck it; can opened, range is hot. I will have chili.

Hey, Stoatie!

Can I just say most of why I keep coming back to the 'lith is actually to be found in this very thread?

Saint Keggers
00:51 / 31.01.08
ditto

except for all the comic talk. Quite enough of that. Thank you very much.

This Sunday
00:53 / 31.01.08
Veng, I may one day personally show up to your doorstep and make you go downtown and buy a copy of whatever Punisher book's actually being released at the time. And some Archie.

Or that crossover between them, if there's a cheap back issue section.

For your own good.

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK
00:55 / 31.01.08
Eeeeeeeeeeeeevenins all.

I'm very very drunk.

I have a dilemma.

At some point tomorrow, someone is coming to replace my gas meter. I have to be in. SO I've got someone else to walk Sheena for me... trouble is, when I get out of bed she's gonna expect a walk, because that's what she's used to.

Is it sensible for me to stay up all night drinking booze (she will, usually, be quite happy with sleeping as long as I do) on the grounds that I'll be in bed all day tomorrow, and therefore cause her less confusion?

Saint Keggers
00:56 / 31.01.08
I did read a bit of Punisher while doing the mural. He was captured by Kraven Jr. And held on a boat. With a bunch of superhoeroes that were part animals. except for the ones they ate. I liked it. Quite funny.

This Sunday
01:07 / 31.01.08
Oh dear. I now have a voice in my head saying 'Drinking's not a plan; drinking's what you do when the plan fails!'

Stoatie, do the opposite of what the voice in my head mangling lines from Tremors says! Drink. Stay in bed. Especially if you're unlikely to sober up in time for anything anyhow.

Pet the dog a bit more than usual, as consolation.

Saint Keggers
01:09 / 31.01.08
'Drinking's not a plan; drinking's what you do when the plan fails!'

But...my plan was to drink!

This is so very confusing.

I think I need a drink.

But...my plan was to drink!

This is so very confusing.

I think I need a drink.

So my plan worked. I get to have a... wait a minute... oh well, I'll just cheat and have one anyway.

Saint Keggers
01:19 / 31.01.08
Now THATS'S A PLAN!

Saint Keggers
01:21 / 31.01.08
Im watching Dylan Moran. ( I keep wanting to call him Dylan Thomas ) I havent seen him since Black Books. SO funny.

This Sunday
01:53 / 31.01.08
It's kind of sad how much I love Black books and yet, have hardly seen any of the principles doing anything else.

Saint Keggers
01:56 / 31.01.08
Manny was on QI.

This Sunday
02:02 / 31.01.08
Actually, it turns out Billy-boy's been in a number of things I've seen and never quite caught on that it was him. (This probably does not speak well of my celeb-recognition powers.)

Saint Keggers
02:15 / 31.01.08
yeah, no career as paparazzi for you!
