Well, don't feel lonely, even if it's not late.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
17:14 / 28.01.08
Hi, Feverfew.

I miss the heady days when the Lith would be dead all day and the lateshift would be accruing five posts-a-second.

Oh, those heady days, gone, fallen like autumn leaves into the gutter.

Anyway! Enough of that! There will be no maudlin.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
17:25 / 28.01.08
I remember thinking that "maudlin" would be a good word for some sort instrument. One that played maudlin music, of course.

I'm glad the 5 posts a second thing has passed, to be honest. I can follow conversations now. Where Daytripper at these days?

My aforementioned cheese is in the oven as we speak. It smells of wood. Damp wood. Weird.

Updates, if we survive.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
18:31 / 28.01.08
I thought Decadent was back after some protracted disappearance, Pacific.

Sounds lovely, COG.

I've just selected the dinner club menu for this Wednesday: roasted red peppers stuffed with shrimp, goat cheese, mushrooms and onions, with a light salad to start and a chilled white wine to accompany.

Earlier lateshuft evar!!1!

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
18:34 / 28.01.08
Hi, Veng!

The lateshift has seemed listless of, ah, late.

Who wants to have the next banning thread?

Saint Keggers
18:38 / 28.01.08
Do we have to?
Cant we all just get along?
Cant we buy the board a coke and teach it how to sing?

Cheese report ;

I am now experiencing a mild damp wood-flavoured heart attack. It was very nice. We decided that the damp wood smell was the smell of French countryside. Nice. Also had rich duck pate for an extra dose of fat on top. And the red wine is going down well for a Monday night.

p.s. It's not necessary to capitalise Cog. I only made it like that because everyone was calling me coq.

So...you're against capitalism?

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy

I wish I had red wine right now.

All I have is book mending glue.

Saint Keggers

Can you 'just add water' and let it ferment? mmm mending wine.

I have no witty response to that witty post, so I shall just mention that I now have a cup of tea and my 3rd type of fat for the evening; organic chocolates. Yum.

I am also trying to explain what fudge is, to a Spaniard and a Portugese person, in Spanish. Just realised that I was talking about toffee and had to backtrack.

Decrescent Daytripper is with us! The 'Lith I joined isn't dead.

I just loaded a Bubblegum Crisis wallpaper, very tangentially inspired by a long ago comment of DD's, something akin to the fact that the future - i.e. now - was surely just like that show - always nighttime, killer cyborgs roam the streets, and everyone you know is bisexual or in a rock band or works for the police or runs a boutique, or some combination of all four. On the best days, life can be as good as that sounds, if you really try.

Papers, you dig on Cory Doctorow, am I right? I'm in a futurological mood, and planning to read some of his stuff soon. Any pointers?

What intrigues me at the moment is the amount of BLEACH BEAT COLLECTION CD's available. It's marketing, jim, but not necessarily as I know it.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
20:01 / 28.01.08
Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom is a must, dude, for the Doctorow. I'd also recommend Overclocked HIGHLY - it's his pastiche sci-fi short fiction book, including O.S. Card-derived "Anda's Game" -- though the best is "I, Row-Boat."

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy

A Place So Foreign & Eight Others is also wonderful, short stories that include a wacked out time-travel story that has Jules Verne credited with every good and important story, ever!

Well, I am here although it is not night in my part of the world yet, it is the late afternoon. I have not been here in a very long time although I joined the conversation at random intervals. How is everyone doing?

Hello, JERDW, we are remarkably chipper as a body.

Here I'm on GMT (that's right, suckers, we own time - get used to it) and I'm enjoying a Lateshift that's both moving at a decent pace and taking place at a civilised hour. I just finished a bout of Final Fantasy X - playing old and piss-easy JRPGs, I have absolutely no shame - and am wondering if my cold will have diminished enough by morning for me to go back to work. Perhaps not.

Final Fantasy X's summons rank among some of my favourites, though, including throw-coins-at-me-and-maybe-I'll-do-something-interesting Yojimbo and his dog. I'm working through FFXII: Revenant Wings on the DS at the moment and although it alternates between thing of beauty and incredibly easy, it's a lot of fun...

Well that is good that everyone is chipper. I am not so happy, maybe because I am listening to Creep by Radiohead which is a depressing song.

I have played Final Fantasy but not in a long time. I think the last one I played was FF like 7

Ugh, Yojimbo was totally unusable unless you were King of Maths.

I'm chipper, me!

Which is v surprising after the day/week/month I've had.

Final Fantasy X - playing old and piss-easy JRPGs

Oh, I feel positively old now, having just a few weeks ago hooked up a Super NES in a fit of wanting to play video games but not being particularly interested in anything currently on the market. So I spend my free time reliving the Golden Age of video games, when you still had to use your imagination somewhat to distinguish between Protagonist and Background Tree, but at least your character would move in the direction you'd tapped, instead of veering off into a death trap simply to spite you.

I truly wish I had something to say about cheese or Cory Doctorow, but nothing's coming to mind at the moment.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
05:38 / 29.01.08
That's all right, Soylent.

I've just written 1600 words, so of course I'm chipper! Hope they still look this good in the morning. Too bad I have to go do laundry and go to work rather than starting off the morning with some more paragraphs. Maybe I'll scribble some in the laundromat while my clothes tumble.

Ugh, Yojimbo was totally unusable unless you were King of Maths.

Fairly true. But he did have a) a nice, understated music for his appearance and b) a fun dog (a shisa, I believe?)

I am chipper because I've finally managed to see Day Watch (on dvd) and it's pretty much met and exceeded all my expectations, including those related to dodgy 90's haircuts.

Wow. Pretty soon were going to have to covert this to Earlyshift.

or maybe just Nowshift.

You darn kids. Alwasy trying to change things that worked for eons before. It worked.

And get off my lawn!

Don't you wave that stick at me! We're changing things for the better, round here, don't you see? Don't you see?

Oh, that I could give you my eyes. It'd help with juggling, for a start.

Saint Keggers

I'll have you know I was born on international jugglers day for crying out loud! I know about juggling.

How's you?

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy

Food!

I made veggie burgers with too much (read: not enough) mustard on them. Plus there's onions and a bit of brie on them.

burgers have have meat!
