Hey, H.Q.

Join us in our night of tea and burlesque!

Pull up a chair and have some tea.

I reckon I can get a good couple of brews out of this before the owner catches up with me. I may even be able to swipe one of his Yixing teapots. He's got enough as it is.

Having an allergic reaction to our cat, wheezing like an old set of bagpipes, so I've exiled myself to the sofa with laptop so the missus can get some sleep (she's up in an hour for work, so she needs it). Listening to BBC World Service over my headphones, chatting on the 'Lith. Could be worse!

Yes. You could have a headache.

Eeeek! Allergic to new cat doesn't sound good!

I never used to be allergic to cats, but I seem to have picked it up in recent years.

If it's any help, I've heard that cat allergies aren't triggered by the hair, but the saliva that gets all over it when they lick themselves. You can buy wipes that'll sort it out if you keep on top of it.

I could. Instead I have a cup of tea, which I have just finished. Have abandoned the idea of sleep for tonight I think. More tea, vicar!

Really iamus, that sounds fab, if it's the cause. I've lived with cats most of my life, except the last three years since I moved to London. This flat is just one main room though, so I don't have the ability to keep a room hair/saliva free, like I used to, so I'm currently dosing up on Piriton and trying to figure out how to minimise the scratching/wheezing that's resulting.

The new cat is cute as a button and as long as it's not actively killing me, I'll put up with the scratching. My wife moved across the Atlantic to be with me, the very least I can do is put up with a bit of wheeziness, especially when I get the cuteness benefits of having a mog around the house too.

I probably should be thinking of sleep at the mo (my pattern is so totally fucked) but I'm enjoying myself at the mo, and that's the main thing really.

I still love cats, and they seem to love me.

My immune system is the disgruntled third party in this relationship, I fear.

That's actually how I'm dealing with the dog I'm watching at the moment. He sheds ridiculously, but the hair itself isnt' a problem, so long as he's washed regularly.

The cat likes to steal my showers and dishwater, so I don't have to worry about cleaning her.

I have no problems with dogs or cats.

Cue fate giving me allegies to both right about...now.

A cat that bathes is a rare treasure. I'm sure I still have the scars to prove that Radar, my old cat, was not one of those cats.

I shall mention these things to the wife. I'm sure she's going to wake up and be mortified that I've not been asleep, so perhaps these things will be a good conversation topic. Ah, I hear her stirring now.

I missread that as "I hear her string now" and had visions of a lifesize version of one of those pullstring dolls that always turn evil.

Creepy

Apparently, she's only interest in water if I've prepared it. She seems to think no matter what I'm doing, it's clearly meant for her, so if I run water, she gets in it, if I fry eggs, she sits and begs for some white, if I lay a blanket down, she gets on it before me. But friends and relatives don't seem to warrant the same level of involvement. My cat, I guess. When she was a kitten, she got a bit confused and tried to get in a pot of water I'd put on the range to boil, thankfully that behaviour's been sorted.

Eeughssslshuzh! Is that a photoshoppy job on one of those Hanging with Hannah dolls?

Burned right into my retina, that is. So glad to not be going to sleep soon.

Got it in one, Decadent.

You have to understand how unbelievably proud I was when I made that one back in the day.

Wait, you keep that on hand? Like, just sitting on your computer in case of sadism?

Aren't you afraid it'll infect the rest of the machine and grow?

Very understandable. It is a work of art. (If, ofcourse, your actual name is Art. Otherwise, not so much)

It's stored safely in the Villagephoto.com archives. It's merely a quick jaunt to the middle of Gleeeushusheshusheush! to pull the url back up.

If it escapes and traumatizes an entire generation of children and makes lifesize dolls a bloodweeping experience necessitating their removal from the market and delicate surgical scouring from a generation's brains?

I'll, y'know, buy you a drink or something. In fact, if you don't hit us with it again, I'm sure we'd all chip in and buy you a really good drink.

I do have an urge to watch Don't Look Now tonight, though.

If you scar your brain enough, you get calluses. Calluses of safety.

I can't stop smelling my Lush soap. Yummmmmmmm!
