This Sunday
02:52 / 11.08.07
I am filled with happy and Guinness. This results in a lateshift, and no, it's not something we can question. It just results.

How y'all doing?

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK
03:00 / 11.08.07
FUCK YEAH LATESHIFT

Saint Keggers
03:00 / 11.08.07

Saint Keggers
03:10 / 11.08.07
deadest lateshift evar!

This Sunday
03:12 / 11.08.07
It's amazing how horrible that brandy made me feel earlier (cheap, ugly, blahblah...), and now? Yay! Double yay!

Saint Keggers
03:13 / 11.08.07
Guinness makes everything better

This Sunday
03:16 / 11.08.07
Sorry, V. Phone, again. I thought it'd be a dead night for me. It's Friday, you'd think everybody else would be out partying or something.

Saint Keggers
03:20 / 11.08.07
They are so inconsiderate!

This Sunday
03:30 / 11.08.07
How'd the new wine work out?

Saint Keggers
03:32 / 11.08.07
Very nice. Tastes very new but its going to be great once it ages.

Saint Keggers
03:33 / 11.08.07
fruity with a slight oak undercurrent and a velvety finish.

This Sunday
03:57 / 11.08.07
I want a big bat that says 'calling yourself an agent does not make an agent.' I want to be allowed, legally, to use it for educational purposes. Same with producers. Especially 'Beverly Hills Producers.'

Saint Keggers
04:04 / 11.08.07
hehe, that bad?

This Sunday
04:16 / 11.08.07
Pretty bad. Maybe it's just that I can't functionally wear multiple hats or just declare myself as X and have people buy into it. Maybe I'm just jealous. But, no. You can't jump from field to field and talk about how you're going to revolutionize the field you just discovered by becoming instant-producer and developing things that have already been done.

Especially if the new field is videogames and you have no idea that they come in 3D, massively immersive versions now, with somewhat sustained narratives beyond Super Mario Bros. 2 or Donkey Kong.

This Sunday
04:19 / 11.08.07
This, if you're interested, is also known as 'how I lose a job before I even have it.' Stupid pseudo-ethics and pride.

Saint Keggers
04:21 / 11.08.07
Wait a second! There's a Supermario 2?!

Betcha its not as good as my idea. A war type game! Hopw's that for revolutionary! I rock!

This Sunday
04:25 / 11.08.07
Only if it's a war-by-typing game. Like that thing where you race a car by your typing speed, but with explosions and missiles going down air vents.

Edutainmenty!

Especially if it turns into an anti-war demonstration and boys in uniform with twitchy faces and missing limbs. With cut scene of somebody throwing a peace sign at the armless Vet. That always tugs at the heartstrigs, don't it?

So revolutionary!

This Sunday
04:30 / 11.08.07
But, y'know, chicken and rice, beer, and songs I know all the words to playing in the background. I can stand to be not on the cutting edge of repetition at this point.

Saint Keggers
04:31 / 11.08.07
and when you kill someone it goes to a cinematic of a person at home sobbing over a photo of the guy you killed, or of a litle kid standing near a bicycle with the words "Little Timmy has nobody to teach him how to ride a bike. Because of you."

This Sunday
04:39 / 11.08.07
There was a dating sim that was translated to English in the late nineties, for the PC. As part of it, you're a dopey semi-average guy hanging around this store and you meet a girl as happens in these things. If, during your converation with her, you talk her into leaving with you and getting something to eat... you get a scene of her little sister, whom she's left at the store and might get kidnapped. She cries and admonishes you for stealing away her big sister.

And then the game continues at the restaurant. Poor kid sister, abandoned forever.

Saint Keggers
04:40 / 11.08.07
wow. harsh

This Sunday
04:46 / 11.08.07
I mean, the fact that both you and she know all this and still go off together and then can continue to date... what does this say about either of you?

Ah. I think, if I'm going to be forced to be an academic, and recent forces are conspiring in that direction, I might have to write a paper on videogame ethics. Like how cool it was to blow up everybody and their building in a Gundam game, and stomp all over the enemy, until someone who can understand Japanese tells you those are civillians. From your side. Or how many people were frustrated with the tranq. gun in a game, so they start knocking out seagulls and pretending they'll drown, as witnessed watching people in shops hang around the preview-machine all day doing little but.

Saint Keggers
04:50 / 11.08.07
or how many people tried to shoot the dog in Duck Hunt.

This Sunday
04:54 / 11.08.07
True, true.

The best fun with Duck Hunt was discovering you could control the duck, and basically torturing whomever had the lightgun. It was like reverse-sadism, only somehow not.

Saint Keggers
04:58 / 11.08.07
heheh

Well I think im going to call it a night

g'night

This Sunday
05:01 / 11.08.07
Night.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
02:11 / 13.08.07
Anychildren up, yes, yes?

I'm putting music onto my computer. Hello, void?

This Sunday
02:16 / 13.08.07
Again, torn between sleep and a fresh pot of coffee, the lateshift takes control and throttles my life into wakey-time.

How's it going?

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
02:17 / 13.08.07
Not bad. I'm a little strung-out after a very nice day, driving up-island with some fellow hedonists to do a tour of wineries and go for a extravagant picnic. I should probably be doing some writing work, but I'm reading old LEGION comics instead.

This Sunday
02:25 / 13.08.07
Really, the Legion should come first. Anything with the word 'lad' in a non-ironic context should come first.

I'm still semi-quietly celebrating my fellowship offer/acceptance and the upcoming retreat. It's been a weird and fast few days and my increasingly irregular schedule has made it feel even more rushed/disjointed. I've made a promise to myself to be more careful when getting asked out while buying groceries (lost several frozen things due to it being over a hundred out here) and trying to tell myself to listen to less Joan Jett at high volume, but that one might not stick.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
02:38 / 13.08.07
Ah, Joan Jett. What's the details of your retreat? I would love a retreat.

This Sunday
02:44 / 13.08.07
Paid week on the east coast, up in the woods, to talk writing and lit, deal with the business end of things, and generally make myself appear interesting enough to garner interest. I'm already sticking out like a sore you know what, and I'm not even there, yet, but hopefully it'll all be good. I can at least pretend to think I'm very good and worth the time if it's to my occupational benefit. And if it doesn't work out? A week's vacation in the woods in a swank big house with nothing I have to do other than a few readings, a bit of sitting in on conversations, and write.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
02:49 / 13.08.07
Sounds sort of heavenly. I'd really like to do a writer's retreat.

On the story, I've mostly just been writing down logistics and character questions to ask myself in order to direct my revisions. Revising is truly my favourite part of writing, when it's all there in pieces and you're putting it together in better and more wonderful combinations.

Saint Keggers
02:53 / 13.08.07
hi
