Sir Ben Kingsley.

T'was originally printed in today's Sun though. They've been right about quite a few different things: Billie leaving, Freema in a limited amount of episodes and in Torchwood, John Simm and Derek Jacobi as the Master. Still though, I'm a bit indifferent to this news. The pissy little fanboy within would prefer Terry Molloy returning to the role.

Some names from BBC News. Very interested in Fenella Woolgar, loved her in 'Jeckyll'

Oh, her - she's such an instinctively RTD Who actor, it's almost amazing she hasn't been in it before.

Catherine Tate looks really different in that photo.

There's a definite Sarah Jane Smith vibe around her in that photograph. Tennant looks a bit out of it, but then I suppose I would be too if I had to start doing photoshoots a week after my mum had died.

"The Great One".

That fuck-off huge spider that forced Pertwee's regeneration. Her. She was a proper villain.

The only one the Doctor's ever actually been frightened of...

I say bring her back. Her or Omega.

Ho and indeed hum.

Season 4 is going ahead as planned in 2008. Looks like we'll get three RTD written and David Tennant starring specials in 2009, followed by a full fifth season in 2010.

Saying it as twenty ten makes it sound like a distant science fiction future..

It's nice that we'll be having more Tennant and Davies, but I'd honestly prefer if they'd just get another Doctor/Executive producer rather than just drastically altering the show for 2009.

Anywho..
As you were.

CiN spoilers ahead!

In 2005 we had the brief tenth Doctor post regeneration bit, last year we had an excellent Murray Gold concert, and this year we're getting "Time Crash."

Fifth Doctor and Tenth Doctor teaming up, in what can only be described as the greatest piece of fan service since..well, since the Daleks pwned the Cybermen.

Written by Steven Moffat and with two of the best actors to have ever played the Doctor, it can't go wrong. Joy!

Picture!

Davison's not looking bad for fifty-ish!

This looks great, but I'm feeling ungreatful already because I want to see a multi-doctor story that is at least a full episode.

But that is just my spoiled inner-child talking. I am confident that whatever Mr Moffat has in store for us will be great fun. I just wish there was more of it.

When is it actually being shown? And how long is it? Surely longer than the first CiN mini-scene?

I'm wondering if Doctor 5 is going to appear in the form of a recording. Much in the way that Doctor 9 did in Parting of the Ways.

It's going to be set just before the Christmas episode so I imagine it will be about the same length as the original CiN minisode. Perhaps an interactive Doctor recording.

I seem to recall the TARDIS took a massive hit during the Fifth Doctor's recovery from his regeneration (losing something like 30% of it's mass). Perhaps it's something to do with Astrid, uh I mean, the TARDIS's trauma at the hands of The Master.

I don't think it's going to be a TARDIS projection. The Sun showed pictures of them interacting in far more physical way than a hologram would allow. The press release has described it as a "scene," so I imagine it's not going to be much longer than 15 minutes and will almost certainly be TARDIS bound.

The Outpost Gallifreyans suggest that he's just going to appear in the TARDIS and that the Doctor's final "what?!" at the end of Last of the Timelords wasn't him expressing surprise at the appearance of the Titanic, but at the appearance of his old self.

It's bound to be hilarious with Moffat writing.

Sontarans are back! The face mask is really quite good, and stylistically doesn't seem to have been changed since The Time Warrior. I can understand the need to change the costume slightly, as the Judoon rocked the leather clad muscle suit look last year, but is powder blue really necessary?

More info.

Also, for an asexual race of clones he sure does have a big crotch pouch.

Hey - just because they are all clone males now doesn't mean that they evolved asexually.
Also not crazy on the blue costumes - they look like action figures. Give them their Judoon-style uniforms back and some explanation why the Judoon are coppong Sontaran style...

I like that he's a short-arse. As, I believe, Sontarons generally are.

Third companion! Oh pretty please be a third companion!

Nice. I wonder if the general Sontaran enthusiasm among fans last year when a lot of people thought the fully armoured Judoon were Sontatans played a part in the decision to revive them? In any case it makes me happy to see the return of any of the old monsters from the old days, expecially those that are a little less famous than the Daleks or the Cybermen.

DavidXBrunt
09:07 / 09.11.07
I expect you're right. he Judoon would also explain the style shift in Sontaran armour since the 80's.

The Sontarans have been surprisingly well connected to the series cropping up in one of the better comics and often being mis-named by Christopher Eccleston as the monster he'd most like the face down.

Another week another Sun article plucking random names out of the air. This week: Will Lilly Allen be the next companion? Will John Simms be the next Doctor? Or did we mean Rhys Ifans? Or was it Scooby Doo? Pass that spliff...

1. That appears to be a Daily Mail article about rape sentences.

2. If you think the Sun article has no credibility, why link to it?

Really can't wait for Friday's CiN special. I just hope I don't miss it, nestled amongst the rest of the night's crapola. Any idea what time the special might actually be on at?

According to the Radio Times it's in the 8 til 8.30 segment, which also includes a song from Captain Jack. Leave leeway for live changes. It's only 7 minutes long but frankly I'm probably more excited by broadcast Who since, well, one minute before Rose broadcast. My Doctor plus Tennant, plus the best living who Writer*. Quality.

Oh, and Barrowman has been hinting that he's back soon in Who.

* Anyone not excited by the Moffat/Spielburg/Jackson/Tintin joint?

Oh, and Barrowman has been hinting that he's back soon in Who.

I heard about that! He said he'll be filming on Who shortly after Christmas, and considering TW2 has almost finished filming, it can't be confused for that. If it's true, then there are going to be quite a few companions in the TARDIS during s4. Donna, Martha, Jack- all at the same time! Fun. That is of course presuming that Jack and Martha will be there at the same time.

Interestingly enough it also gives a little more credibility to that chestnut of a rumour doing the rounds:
