Just a quick 2 questions:

1. Is Jack a whole lot better on Torchwood that he is on Dr.Who?

2. Am I the only one on the board who hate and I mean LOATHES Jack?

I think I was 5 the last time I was this anxious for christmas.

1. He's generally gloomier and less fun. He also inexplicably doesn't cripple Owen Harper for being a bad human being. Whether he'll cheer up for the second series after hanging out with the Doctor for a bit and sorting out why he was left behind is matched by the fact he's spent a year being killed by the Master, which has got to sting.

2. Yes, and I've checked and this means you're actually a terrible person.

Venger: you are not alone. I really dislike the character, and not just through association with Torchwood.

He is less loathable on Who, though... but perhaps simply by virtue of the fact that all the Torchwood characters bring out an urge in me to go and find a shotgun, some buckshot and some salt.

The true identity of the person picking up the Master's Ring will completely change how we view The Sarah-Jane Adventures.

Are they ever going to make any of those?

They're half way through production. It'll probably be on in early September. The Slitheen are coming back. More fart jokes. Yay!

Brigadier-wise I've had a thought of what I'd like to see, and that's a time-travel story, featuring Courtney as an old Lethbridge-Stewart in the present and a lookalike as him as a young man in a story set years in the sixties or there abouts. If Courtney isn't up for doing too much the bits in the present could just be a fairly minimal framing sequence for the main story. If they wanted to make it a real tear jerker they could fulfill Lethbridge-Stewart's destiny to die peacefully in his sleep at the end of the story.

T'would make a good Doctor light episode, I suppose.

Better the Slitheen family are back again in the SJS Adventures than in Doctor Who...

I think Guitar Wolf should be Dr Who's new companion.

I would pay good money to see this happen. Just in case, y'know, if you know somebody.

The entire band, of course. Not just THE Guitar Wolf. And they'd have to bring their gear with them. Baby Wolf too.

Hey. What if Donna's the Master?

We know Harold Saxon has been lurking in the background throughout this new series. We know he was involved in giving the order to shoot down the Racnos. It's surely not outwith his capabilities to track down Donna and set her up as his Plan B. It can even be used to retcon changes in Donna's circumstances and personality at the start of the season: say she's now a high-flying corporate type, in a position of authority, more serious and in control and less flustered than before. Ostensibly this is because she learned and changed after meeting the Doctor. 'You could say,' she might tell him 'that, since I've met you, I became a different person.' But of course the reason is that she actually is a different person - the Master, up to his old body-hopping tricks. This can be slowly gotten across as we see Donna doing ever more out of character things, behind the Doctor's back, as the series progresses (say there's a Sea Devils episode, and Donna/Master leaves behind a communicator thing with a secret message for whatever Sea Devils survive the smackdown the Doc lays on 'em.

The second half of the series with the return of Martha leads to the big reveal, and the last four or five episodes are an epic conclusion as the Doctor, Martha, and Jack battle across reality itself to try and stop the Master using the Sea Devils, Dalek Caan, the Toclafane and the battered remnants of Torchwood to force open the rifts between realities and bring the Dalek Timelords of Parallel Gallifrey into our reality - and under his command!

Or something.

I'm REALLY hoping that Martha returns arond episode 6 or seven rather than episode 10...

If Donna turned out to be the Master that would make her even more annoying than if she weren't, and I thought that was annoying as it was possible for someone to be.

Kylie will be playing a character called Astrid, which is a fairly obvious anagram of TARDIS. So, the paradox machine has driven the TARDIS insane and in order to rectify it, it creates a personification of itself, or something like that. The character could be a living TARDIS, like 8th Doctor companion, Compassion.

Kick-ass boots!

Now see, TARDIS pop-avatars are exactly the kind of companions we should be getting.

Those boots do indeed rule.

One episode title has been released. I've no idea where it fits in the season, but I doubt it's the first. The episode is by Keith Temple and the title is: "Planet of the Ood."
The Beast thing has been flogged to death and if it's going to be another grimy 'n' gritty episode, I might just weep. An episode about the liberation of the Ood might be good.

The sexual liberation of the Ood, I hope.

The Daily Mail claim that James Nesbitt or James Statham will be the next Doctor and that Stephen Moffat will be the next executive producer. We can has Gina Bellman as LadyMaster?

But then the Daily Mail can't spell 'Daleks' so what do they know?

Shiny: Well Over Thirty

Hmmm Moffat as the new boss on Doctor Who? Never before have I wanted the Mail to be speaking Strong Truth. Not so sure about Nesbit or Statham as the Doctor, but Moffat managed to make Hyde sort of work with Nesbit as the main character so if he is running the show it might fine.

Evil Scientist

For a moment there I thought that was Jason Statham and Doctor Who vanished out of a whole new door into a world of plot-zero, maximum-impulse-zone, comic-book-violence action thrillers, and really bad American accents.

Hell, I'd watch a Jason Statham Doctor. For an episode at least

Of course I'd watch a Nesbitt one too. I've only seen him in Jekyll and rather dug him, but apparently many of the UKers around here hate the guy?

Evil Scientist

Richard E. Grant's not doing anything at the moment and he's played the Doctor a couple of (non-canonical) times.

"For a moment there I thought that was Jason Statham"

Well the Mail page does say Jason, not James. Blimey!

Please not Statham. Please, please not Statham. I've seen Transporter and Revolver, and I just can't cope.

Moffat + Nesbitt = win, especially given how good Jekyll was. It had its hokey moments, its silly bits, and its preposterous bits, and it was still very good.

Also, it points to perhaps less gurning. (Perhaps).

Evil Scientist

I'm actually coming round to the idea of Statham as the Doctor. He'd be The Doctor in the Nextwave universe. Healing time/space by beating people up.

For archival purposes, proof that when I complained about the current theme it is in fact worst ever; I hope to God they sort it, because it's about all that's gaun wrawng with the Tennant incarnation (best evs).

Kick out the JAMMs, mothrafuckers.

For a moment there, I thought it was Alan Statham, and I had a pleasurable accident in my trousers.

I have so little knowledge of this Statham of which you speak I couldn't be bothered to get his name right.

Hang on, wasn't he in Minge?

Moffat posted to outpost Gallifrey and roundly dismissed the James Nesbitt rumour. Of course, he didn't say anything about himself not being the next executive producer. Huzzah for Moffat, but a definite bleurgh for Nesbitt.

Moff's post:

"The James Nesbitt story is a total fabrication. Made up. A fantasy. Just a guy sitting at a desk and just inventing stuff.

"I wasn't going to say anything, but I'm getting embarrassed for the deeply wonderful Jimmy Nesbitt. So tell everyone please, cos it's getting very silly.

I sort of wish he'd said the same thing about Statham as well.

Okay, so (watch me look the fool) who is James Statham? Every web search I do for that name leads me back to Jason Statham. Often in articles about the James Statham rumor.

Is there really a rumor that Jason Statham is going to be the new Doctor?

Our Lady Has Left the Building

According to the fevered imaginings of Daily Mail writers who live in their own reality anyway. I just got the name wrong.

The Evening Standard say Ben Kingsley is in talks for the part of Davros but, for overseas readers, I would point out that they are from the same publishing company as the Nesbit rumours.
