The Glenmorangie 18-year is fantastic, and I believe it's under $60, or used to be. You can get a lot of 15-years for $35-$50, too, I believe.
The thing about good single-malt Scotch, for me, is that it's not a "get wasted" drink, it's a sipping drink, so I don't balk at paying higher prices, as it will last longer than my average bottle of bourbon or gin.
The best cheap domestic whiskey is Jim Beam Rye (the yellow label). It's like $13 a fifth and it's delicious. Never, under any circumstances, buy Jack Daniels. Ever. They're scum. |
