What a stack of wank. Actually, I think that merits an Urgh fuck (as does the evil Laura larva, what the fuck).

Yep, that's one nasty story made worse by the use of some hideous language.

NOBODY ENJOYS ANYONE EVER OR THERE WILL BE SICK

"Enjoy", huh? Classy.

Hmm. I'm thinking about this experience now. The consent thread has set me theorising.

Is visible difference seen as a sign of consent anyway? So was my eyeliner interpreted, in some sense, as a form of consent. By having visible difference, am I being interpreted as pre consenting?

Or is visible difference the cue which lets scumfilth think that minorities aren't really real people etc etc?

Obviously this is a bit of a brain fart, but is anyone else interested in exploring this sort of thing in a new thread? Or is there a thread I can go to already?

I'd like to see this visual/cultural consent presumption stuff roll right out of the thread we've got, but there's function and structure to be observed. Okeh, new thread or resurrect an old one (I don't know of any directly applicable), but I'll definitely dive into it and read/post. After some very horridly annoying and inane suppositions about race and culture last night at the third sit-down of the afterdark rounds, and a toast amongst all the, as the waitress said, 'defective mutts' at the table I could use the processing space for what in clothes, culture, or genetics is supposed to imply consent, or a natural state of X, or innate proof of assholey suppositions. And, I could use better brains than mine (of which Barbelith has a collection) to process it for me. Because I get all bittery.

Definitely good idea to roll over all your 'enjoy' horrorstory stuff into the thread Princess, if you can stand it. Good starter, that.

Yikes! The hail just got so heavy it started forcing itself down my (blocked up) chimney and out of my fireplace. I'm sort of astounded by the beauty and force of nature and a bit concerned about the state my carpet's going to be in.

Look, I resent this. The topic abstract says quite clearly that this thread is for "those times when you can barely restrain a raised eyebrow, or even a snort of derision." It does not say "for things that make you want to hurl breakable objects off the balcony whilst screaming curses at the night sky." Please take such blatant Urgh Fuck material to the Urgh Fuck thread in future.

Firmly back in the raised eyebrow area: being mildly perplexed why someone would name their child Neo. Is this a future Matrix Warrior, as premièred on the BBC's send-in-your-child's-birthday-card slot of a Sunday morning?

My reality tunnel was cracking in places at that, with a few drops of ectoplasm seeming to ooze through.

As people say on the ILE thread, what's really bad about those cartoons is that they're not genuinely trying to be funny or satyrical - there's no actual joke there, just pure moralising.

Now if a joke is a joke is a joke, then anyone, regardless of cultural context or political opinion can laugh at it - I suppose this is why we can still laugh at some jokes from Greek plays or Shakespeare (well, Ben Jonson at any rate). Somebody saying "Sir! Lend me your dwarf..." is always funny.

Those cartoons? Not funny at all. I have a similar opinion on those Dutch Mohammed scrawls - all those people saying that Muslims should "get the joke" miss the fact that there was no joke to get.

I'm not entirely sure either why we keep citing groups full of straight white men as bold opposites to the straight white maleness of modern indie.

Te. If you have nothing worthwhile or interesting to say, could you please stay out of threads where other people who might have are talking? It depresses them. You can go and try to imagine what your favourite comic book writer or film director is thinking right now about a project that may or may not come out in the next five years in one of the toilet threads in Comic Books or Film, TV and Theatre if it will make you happy. Otherwise, Conversation.

Need to stop what? It made me frown so I posted it. I've done nothing wrong, maybe you need to calm down.

You need to stop posting that bloody childish animation. That's the third or perhaps the fourth time you've put it up (I seem to remember someone foisting it upon the Music forum afew weeks ago). You are aware that people around these parts are, on the whole, highly unlikely to take kindly to it? Particularly the use you're putting it to.

As for calming down, I'm just a bit ticked off, and, you know, having a bit of a frown. Nothing too serious. Might I suggest that you don't respond to the irritation of others by painting them as stroppists?

Sorry, it's too late. I went to the Barbannoy thread, probably because I'm bored and this place winds me up sometimes. As for the animation : I think it's funny and can't see how it's causing a problem tbh. I was only after posting it once anyway because it made me laugh, and thought others might have the same type of odd sense of humour.

I suppose that's why they call it odd, heh.

Let's imagine for a second that it's not all about you, Frosty.

So, to start - you can't see what the problem is. Other people have registered a problem - two problems, in fact. One, that it was rotting a thread with purposeless nonsense. Two, to quote Flyboy:

Or were you using that gif as I've more commonly seen it used before - i.e., to mock and dismiss what Haus was saying, implying that he was making a spurious accusation of racism?

Now. Question one - are you denying that anyone had a problem with your actions? Presumably not. Are you, then, saying that you still don't understand these problems - that you don't understand the sequence of words forming sentences with which people have expressed them?

Three fucking days? Then she gets 'home confinement' where her prison, where she is to be punished for breaking the law, is her lavish 2,700-square foot (251-sq. meter) home in the Hollywood Hills, where authorities say she will be confined for 40 days. The eight-bedroom, Spanish-style home, built in 1926, sits on a 6,380-square-foot (593-sq. meter) lot above the Sunset Strip.

So, are the other women in the jail going home too? Is there any recourse to object to blatant corruption and bribery?
