You certainly didn't hear this from me, but apparently if you click here you can read the first six pages of the first issue of this.

REVEALED! The story they said was too shocking to print - Flyboy's secret love affair with the BenBo.

Looks alright, that.

Not liking the art. No idea what the hell's going on. I'll buy it anyway. What's that tell you? I've got faith.

Wow. And it's interesting that Batman seems to be DC's official go-to guy when there's a corpse that needs to be lugged around.

Joker helicopters. Yes, that is right, Mr Morrison, Joker helicopters are right, yes they are.

Not just right but very important. Necessary even.

Crucial.

Yay...

...is the considered opinion of this commentator.

looks great - in front of a bus full of disabled children!

I liked the art, I've always kind of liked which ever Kubert that is (preditor vs batman was great).

Batman pulls a gun on the Joker? Huh???

Who shoots the Joker [in the face?!?] if not Bats?

Thanks for finding & posting the preview!

Same guy that kills Magneto with a plane through a building. Rerun.

Repeating grafitti on the last page "Zur en arrr". "Surrender"?

The crowbar returns.

Bruce heals a broken fucking face pretty quick, hey, bub.

Agreed that it doesn't make much sense as is, tho.

Seeing how Joker mentions an acid trip, I’m wondering if this is a dream sequence or a hallucination or something.

Obviously, though, we’ll have to wait and see.

Holy Panel Observations, Batman! Some have "theorised" that in the fifth page, you can clearly see that there are two people wearing the Batman costume! But which is the imposter - could it be the one who managed to lose a fight with the Joker and carries a gun? Who can say!

Of course there are two Batmans there. And "acid trip" is just the Joker joking about what he's about to spray from the flower on his lapel.

Oh, I caught that too. I'm just wondering if there might be a double meaning to explain the bizarre Bat-happenings (i.e. the Joker getting shot in the face). Like I said, we shall see soon enough.

Maybe the Batman-with-gun is Jason Todd (God knows we don't see enough of him in the Bat-family books). We have a bloody crowbar, Bats always has a father-son relationship with his Robins (hence the title).

Gah, I totally missed that on first read myself. Musta read it as two panels, though quite what the first'd've been doing is beyond me. Holy incompetence, Falcon! etc., etc.

Oh, Phexy, that won't be it, it's Talia's boy who's the son in question - but it might be similar to what I was thinking re: Bats' 'bad dad' issues that have, so I'm told, resurfaced of recent. So, what I was thinking is that perhaps the gun-toter is aforementioned fruit of Bruce/Talia's loins.

Also, yes, Joker helicopter. I'd go so far as to say... imperative.

Actually I do think that Kubert isn't the clearest artist in the world, and that Morrison places demands upon artists that do require the clearest artists in the world - for example, I'd wager that the bullet from that gun has only grazed the Joker's temple, and that the sort of 'blast line' in that fifth page is meant to show this.

Further confusing matters is that the unconscious Batman in the double-splash has big eyeholes in his mask through which you can see his skin and eyelids (indicating that it's an impostor in a fake costume), but in the next page he has the "real" Batman's white-slit eyes.

Still, I'm looking forward to this...

Batman 113 - Feb. 1958

"The Superman of Planet X"

Batman is transported to an alien planet, Zur-En-Arrh, by the Batman of that world. On the new planet, Batman acquires superpowers similar to Superman. He has been brought to Zur-En-Arrh to defeat some alien invaders. While he is initially successful, the aliens are able to turn themselves invisible making it difficult for Batman to fight them. His counterpart is able to use the Bat-Radia to disrupt the invisibility screen, so that Batman can drive off the aliens. Batman returns home with the Bat-Radia as a souvenir.

Well played, Mr. Stewart. Well played.

I'm so jazzed for Goldfish Man lunacy. Zebra Batman gravity suits and pretending to be an alien to foil invasions. Jazzed, I say.

Talia's boy who's the son in question

I thought the whole Kingdom-Come thing wasn't canon. It'd be a helluva change for Bats if he had a son out there- particularly as the son in question is an adult, he and Talia would have had to have him in their twenties or thereabouts (I know comics timelines are pretty fluid but it would still mess up a lot of Bats's continuity, that, and Talia's looking pretty good for forty-something) Oh, and I'm still betting he's Catwoman's baby's daddy until I know different. I know GM wants to make him a hairy-chested Sex God, but having two kids running around? Nah.

Still: Joker-copters.

Mario

It wasn't. But then again, neither was Joe Chill.

Given that the only time Batman could honestly be described as a "hairy-chested love god" was that particular arc with Talia, the conclusion seems inescapable.

I'm seriously considering switching over from J.LO-Supes to this because - no dis massa GM & FQ - I honestly think I enjoy a Morrison comic a lot more when he's paired with a flashy artist than a really, really, really good one. A rereading of Rock of Ages confirmed that which I thought lacked so far in S-Man: dinnerbility.

Or maybe I should just hold off on S-Man until I'm middleaged.

>> Holy Panel Observations, Batman! Some have "theorised" that in the fifth page, you can clearly see that there are two people wearing the Batman costume!

The aspect Cameron pointed out (eyeholes/no eyeholes) was indeed confusing; and the gargantuanly weird size the pages were viewed at on the BenBo contributed to me just looking at them for a brief period while at work and then moving on with my day...I was mostly confused but looking forward to the issue. The pages were so large that I didn't really devote much time to them. I trust that when I view the actual comic my visual & reading comprehension skills will remain intact.

just a shame it wasn't Jim Lee paired with Morrison before Hush and the All-Star project took of. because the art here's just... ugh. too much... cross-hatching... can't... take... it. mercy shot: flashy panel borders in Joker's eye close-up.

In addition to the probable "hairy chested love god" O'Neil era Son of the Demon stuff, it's worth noting that at the end of Robinson's recent arc, it seems that Tim Drake is being officially adopted by Bruce Wayne.

I thought about pointing that out, Mongoose. I suppose we shall all see soon enough...
