No idea, but the exact same thing happened to my partner. But, her digital mother sent her an orange which we planted and it has borne sweet fruit, so stick at it. Do coconut trees actually grow, or is it all a bit hit-and-miss?

Coconut trees need to be planted near the beach but not in the sand, within one 'space' of the sand works for me.

Although I had a bad experience with an apple, recently; cleared a nice space for it, nothing around for a good way (five or so squares minimum in any given direction) and it still steadfastly refused to grow.

My play has dropped off to almost the point of nothingness, recently, and that's entirely due to my gameplaying nature; I worked and worked at getting the mortgages all paid off to the highest level, then worked and worked at getting to Platinum level at Nook's, now all I would like is to know what all the types of fruit are and have little groves of them - but I can't take the game online at the moment, so I'm restricted there.

Now I have no mortgage or Nook rating to work at, there's not so much point in picking all the fruits - the play would be solely for fishing, bug-catching and paintings - and for some reason this means my play has just slowly declined. I need a Big Overall Goal, it seems, or I don't seem to play, which is sad...

Perhaps this weekend I'll try and get back into it. After all, I do want that Royal Crown...

Well Fever, I have found that if I don't play for a while when I go back I have a wonderful weed pulling mini game. That usually keeps me occupied for a bit.

As far as you apple tree goes. There are certain parts of the map that are kept clear for neighbors houses too go in, so you may have planted to near where a future house might go.

Through serendipity, my "Mom" sent me another apple over the weekend.

However, My Apple Will Not Grow.

It's nowhere near a prospective house, and I've cleared all the trees for five spaces in every direction, but it will not grow.

I think I might get back into playing for Christmas, though, and get my wireless dongle working again. So... Presents! I will bring presents! (Hopefully!)

I have an orchard growing and a bunch of coconuts (a loverly bunch) for visitors to freely pillage as I don't really need as many as I am growing.

With the time difference I don't get home from work until midnight GMT (I think...) so if anyone will be up late I can open the gates.

Otherwise I can bring my DS to work and connect here, I wonte be able to chat much but I can leave the gates open for a good chunk of the day.

Feverfew, I have a task for you. If you are mortgage free now you can work towards getting feathers. If you donate to the Boondocks people then they send you feathers as gifts. Currently I have a green one for donating (I think)10,000, although it might have been 15,000. You get different colours for different amounts.

If you donate 1,000,000 then you get a rainbow feather which is the ultimate in all loveliness apparently. I have not got one of these but I might try and get one.

Incidentally, has anyone made a snowman and did any of you visit on New Years Day? I hadn't played for 5 weeks but then got the urge on New Years Day, and I got fortune from Tortimer for the year ahead.

I'm digging runnning around in the snow making little snowy crunchy noises and chatting with the snowman.

I cheekily reset the date on the DS so that I could experience the new year's eve thing and got a big Firework display with Tortimer. No fortune though.

How do you make snowmen. I've kicked those balls around and hit them with a spade.

To get a New Year fortune you have to go back to actual New Years day Jan 1st 2007, before 12.00 midday.

To make a snowman you have to roll a big snowball about the size of you (being careful not to lose it behind a tree or lose it to a dung beetle which, if it finds your lone snowball, will push it away and might roll it into a river) and then you have to roll a little snowball about the size of your head. You roll the little snowball up to the big one and then the snowman makes himself. He doesn't like being wrong sized and complains. The proportions I describe are about right, but if you make him differently he will tell you to try again.

I'm thinking of quitting this game. Heresy I know, but I'ts not quite doing it for me. I have my people hailing me with such quips as "kneel slave!" and "stop wanking!", but this barely raises a jaded smirk now. I look like Magnum P.I.'s english butler, with a wooly hat on, and my upstairs room contains the Apollo moon lander. But there must be more to life than this.

I've been clumsily attempting to roll a snowman, but mishaps occur. I hit it with a spade by accident, or it rolls down a hole that I dug.
