It might have been total hit and miss.

That's what I'm reading elsewhere.

There's some business about assigning static IPs to your DS and router, etc., etc., but it'll take a while to test all those things. Maybe it's because I'm encrypted pretty thoroughly?

None. I am trying one quick tweak I learned from the Internet.

Nothing, I'm afraid. Sorry, friends. I suppose I wasn't meant to visit tonight...

Sorry, Bryan.

If it's any consolation, Suedey forgot his fruit and I doubt I'll be able to get to his town for it.

Mel is so gracious a host.

I do feel guilty. I want you to know that.

Do you wanna try to go to my town? Then you can see why I'm angry... your place is so... so... pretty.

You two are very sweet, but it's alright. Such is reality, what with this high technology and all.

I wonder if it's a regional problem? Are you two geographically closer than I am to either of you?

I tried messing with my router's firewall settings, DMZ shit, and a few other things, but nothing's working, unfortunately.

I'm sure you're a great host, Mel. I'm looking forward to your hospitality someday.

We are, but we were having problems too, so I really don't know. My fruit and all my expensive shit is here whenever you make it over.

Oh! Just found out that somebody from my old work has the game and every type of fruit.

As long as I hide my supplier, I can make a stranglehold on the market and force you poor schmos to jump through hoops for my approval!

Belter!

That's blatant fruity coercion!

I'm going to check my catalogue, Mel, and see if I can't order for you some of those Modern-themed goods. I'm fairly certain I've come across a few in the past.

Sorry, again, that it didn't work out last night. We'll try again soon (when I move back to school next week, I'll be behind a different router, which may or may not make a difference).

Hokay. Here's an update...

Nintendo WiFi is fun. I think that our problems over the previous pages may have been a one off problem with the Nintendo servers. At any rate, Suedey has managed to visit my town without incident twice now, and the same goes for me to his. Aside from those teething problems, the whole process is invisible.

We've talked to (and since recieved letters from) each other's animals. Alli the Alligator keeps asking me if Suedey was always such a "bug freak". We've exchanged presents and hit each other with stuff. There's not really anything in the way of set up "games" that you can play, it's more that you find your're own fun with the methods of interaction available. I did enjoy running and hiding in his village, stalking him from a distance, running up behind him, hitting him over the back of the head with a net and then running away again. I was wearing a top hat and long villainous moustache while I did it, which made it all the better.

So now I've had somebody else buy something from my Nook's, it's been upgraded to Nookingtons, a lavish two-storied department store. Unlike the Cube version, this one has a hair salon called "Shampoodle" (Guess which type of animal Harriet the stylist is). I'm rocking a pink, near-skinhead that makes me look disturbingly like Sinead O'Connor.

I'm beginning a pear orchard, which is already getting up to speed, but I'm losing a lot of the saplings, and I'm not sure why. At least two are taking root with each batch, but I'm still wasting a good number of pears. I'm going to need to get to grips with the growth preferences of the trees, because I'm looking to get into hardcore farming.

More later.

Cube version again: saplings have to be planted a couple of spaces away from each other, otherwise they'll either die or stay that size. Also, sometimes they just don't grow, for no apparent reason.

A coconut washed up on shore the other day (I was elated!), and one of my animals sent me a peach in the mail (didn't even know this was possible), so I too am beginning to harvest exotic fruits. I'm trying to be more conscientious as far as the environment is concerned -- planting all available flowers and trees every day (around my ponds), always pulling weeds, etc.

My arcade is coming along quite nicely. I bought a dart board today, and it looks great next to my pinball machines. Do I get a second room when I pay off my second mortgage? I'd really like a full-fledged arcade. Can anyone order an arcade machine for me?

Oh, and Mel -- I have some modern components for you.

When will you all be available to play?

I might be available tonight, around 1ish GMT.

I'll let you know if I'm about.

I'm here and Pondlton's ready to open its gates.

Anyone wanting to visit, let yourself be known and we'll continue in PMs so as not to flood the thread again.

Entirely because of this thread and you, I am now the proud owner of a DS and Animal Crossing (Wild World). It was a gift to me for giving up smoking, aren't I lucky?

So now, I am obviously called Lula (I haven't done all the Wifi stuff like find my code out yet)and I live in a town called Fawkesly in a house with my beautiful man and my little boy. We are never awake at the same time of course but it's fun to all be living in the same town and to send each other letters.

It's a very tiny town at the moment; all this talk of arcades and furniture is beyond me. In our house we have a cloud patterned rug and a tape player and a few other things including half a 'complex machine' which someone gave us and which takes up the whole ground floor when it's not in a pocket. Oddly, when it's in a pocket it is pocket sized. I have no idea what it does.

About five other people live in my town including a very rude boar called Rasher who calls me 'swine' a lot and a female rabbit called Ruby who is concerned with being thin and the collecting of pink furniture. I think this is a very big stereotype. I have covnvinced one character to have the catchphrase 'cobber'.

I have trees full of apples and we are quite good at fishing; we paid off my mortgage by selling fish and pearl oysters. Now Tom Nook is coming tomorrow to make our house a bit bigger, this is exciting but it means Nook's will be shut and I wanted to buy a watering can and a net.

Tomorrow is also the flower festival but I don't have many flowers to show. I do have two bonsai trees.

I changed the town flag to one I designed with a butterfly on and I have discovered money in the trees but also bees. I have been stung by bees twice, but I think it is worth it to get the money, especially when you're just starting out.

We have donated a lot of fish to the museum and also a fossil.

I got my DS and this game yesterday. At 9pm the DS was charged. We played until 3am. This morning we woke up and began playing and all three of us took it in turns to play all day and we did it all in bed.

It is now sunday night and we are still playing. We stopped for tea and the lovely boy's bedtime and also to watch 24.

I am utterly obsessed.

I'm so intrigued by this game that I've put my GBA up for auction in the hope of getting some money towards a DS.

No big loss, really, since I haven't used the GBA for a good three or four months, but hey.

So... Cross one set of fingers for me, eh? If that's alright.
