Hi there! Glad to see some of you are into the 'Crossing!
I've been tootling around my village for a while, but only recently started local visiting stuff. Can't wait to do some WFC games - if I could find anyone online at the same time! Doh.
I'll give out my friend code if anyone's interested in visiting the fair town of Zephrton - we've got oranges galore!

So... I've had a bad week. The good consequence is that I now have a DS and this game, thanks to some judicious exchanging!

I've been playing for a little while today - charged it at work and then played for a bit at lunchtime, and now some more at home - and I'm impressed by it all, really.

I have Cherries galore, and if I can find some way of getting it set up over wi-fi (I think using this - any pointers?) then you're all welcome to come visit, and take some back with you.

A newbie question, though - say I have someone on the Friends list, can I then set up to send them a letter, enclose something, then wait till I have wi-fi access and post it on the understanding that when they next get on-line that they'll receive the letter? Is that how it works, or am I being thick? (Or is it simply message-in-a-bottle time?)

Answers on a postcard, please, with a type of fruit.

No. Sorry, Feverfew. I really wish it was possible to send "email" in AC:WW this way, but I've tried, and it doesn't work. (Think about how quickly we'd all have exotic fruits if it did!)

Essentially, to send mail to someone in another town, you must be visiting that town. Write a letter and drop it at the post office. Your host will receive the letter the next time ze receives mail in hir mailbox.

Go on and post your Friend Code, avatar name and town name! Also, let us know your position in GMT.

Oh, I was just being naĆve, I suspect. I see what you mean.

My town's name is Mariposa, where my avatar, J, lives. As far as GMT goes, I'm in England, so, hey.

Currently in my town there is a laid-back dog called Biskit, a snarky cat called Static, a pig who wants to be an actress called Truffles and, since last night, a penguin has moved in, but right now her name escapes me.

I've just had my house upgraded, but it's now temporarily full of crap I've beach-combed because Nook's isn't open until tomorrow and, hey, I only have so much pocket space. However, the two squid tanks do look quite nice.

Tomorrow is also the Flower Festival, which I should win, hopefully, as I have planted masses on masses outside my house, and watered them faithfully. Also, I am now wearing a very fashionable Camel Shirt. All I need to do is change my hair colour and I'll be a happy enough bunny.

As for friend code - I need to order that USB-style thing, because there's no wi-fi access near here. Once I do, I'll bump this thread and I can them PM it out to anyone who wants it.

It's addictive as hell, isn't it, really? I spent my first few hours fishing to pay off the mortgage. Since then, I've been sending letters with presents in to the town residents and paying off Nook, along with finding a nice enough table in the recycling bin.

I can see this taking over my life for a while...

Sounds like you're coming along nicely, Feverfew. A second mortgage already!

I just re-read my response to your question regarding Wifi and email (which I wrote when I was both tired and not feeling very well), and realized it must have come off as very terse and demeaning. Sorry about that! T'was not my intention, I assure you.

I think I might open my gates when I play this evening, so I'll bump this puppy in case anyone's around.

Feverfew
14:44 / 08.04.06
No no, I didn't get any terseness or such - don't worry!

I'm impressed. Using the hot-spot finder, there are apparently two in my town. Which is two more than I expected. However, one's in a Pub and another in a Private Club, so I can't really see them being conducive to play.

Although, granted, the idea of a bit of Animal Crossing with a pint is tempting. But no.

What I will do, however, is take the DS out later and get a friend code registered, if I can - I should be able to do that by standing near enough to get onto their wi-fi network. It may make me look a bit dodgy, but, hey, why worry?

Once I have that, I'll PM you the code, just for completeness's sake. Anyone else wants it, (assuming my luck holds and I get it) let me know.

This is all very, very intriguing.

A brief bump - I have ordered the USB "Dongle" (a word to love, kiddies), and barring Amazon dicking about for much longer, it should be here next week. However, there is a Bank Holiday in the way. There's also the very real possibility that my head may explode just prior to it arriving.

In terms of my village, people keep bloody arriving! Since starting out with a Dog, a Chipmunk and a Pig, I now have two Penguins, two Cats, and another animal's set up house and home today! I'm beginning to think I'm popular, but I suspect this happens to everyone.

I finally have a shovel, after a week's waiting, and a coconut washed up on the shore, so that's been nicely planted. Also, I've planted a few trees up by the gates in preparation for guests. Nice to look nice, y'know?

I may be near a usable wi-fi source on Saturday, in which case I'll obtain and post a friend code - it'd be nice to get visitors.

How's everyone else doing?

Hello! Picked up Wild World last week, and it's only a delight.

My opportunity for WFC play at the moment is just an occasional visit after work to a cafe with a BT hotzone; still, if no one minds I'd like to add your friend codes to my list.

The village is looking pretty ordinary, but I do have a spare T-rex head, if anyone wants or needs that. And cherries. I have lots of cherries. Enough cherries to make your wee turn pink.

Here's my info...

Name - Zissou
Village - Innsm'th
Friend Code - 0859-6787-2802

The Dongle has arrived.

My friend code is 1804 5757 2119, my name is J and my town is called Mariposa. Visitors welcome! The gates will be open for the next hour and the first visitor to find me gets a present.

Dang, Fever. Missed again. I just downloaded a world clock widget for Dashboard that'll allow me to keep a better eye on GMT. This'll help me better coordinate visits with everyone.

Something odd has happened.

Sable, the introverted seamstress, has suddenly opened up to me. I visit her every day, we chat, she blushes, Mable gives her a hard time, etc. What does this mean? Can anyone else strike up a conversation with Sable?

It occurs to me that it's been a week and a half since I played AC (played at least fifteen minutes every day up until now.

What's more worrying is that I realise it's been a week and a half since I've actually seen my DS.

18:42 / 24.04.06
Phew. Found the DS in the glove of the car.

Bryan, I've had Sable talk to me. I wrote a bit about it a page or two back.

Okay. Since we have a good few people with the game now, I thought it might be a good idea for us all to check in, so we can tell who has what and who needs which. Bear in mind that if you want to fully upgrade your shop to Nookingtons, then you need somebody to visit your town and buy something. So..

Town: Pondlton
Residents: Mr. Nova, Marley
Fruit: Oranges, Peaches, Pears, Coconuts
Shop: Nookingtons
Friend Code: 0687-8520-3269

Feverfew

Cool cool.

Town: Mariposa
Residents: J
Fruit: Cherries, Oranges, Coconuts
Shop: Nookways, I believe.
Friend code: 1804 5757 2119

I'd like some visitors. If only because my animals keep moaning that no-one ever comes to visit them. Also, I have a very cool, if slightly biblical, look at the moment.

This is a great idea.

Town: Trantor
Residents: Bryan
Fruit: Pears, Peaches, Oranges, Coconuts
Shop: Nookways
Friend Code: 116027028153

I'm incidentally opening my gates this evening, if anyone's game.

Give us five/ten minutes. Place is a mess, mind. It's been about two/three weeks.

Looks like there's a censorship mechanism built into the game. When iamus was visiting tonight, and discovered Luigi's clothes in my koala-crush's wardrobe, I called her a eucalyptus-eating slut. But the last word never broadcast, so I had to settle for "tramp."

A letter shown to me by Pippy today:

Stop the Slaughter!

Animal Crackers live in
tiny cages before they're
cruelly eaten. Protest
this barbaric process!

------Animals for Crackers.

Right, I know there's more than this with the game. Come on people! I want to see your towns someday soon!

18:35 / 27.04.06
Town: Fawkesly
Residents: Lula (and Neme-sis* but don't add her.)
Fruit: Apples, Cherries, Pears, Oranges, Coconuts
Shop: Nookingtons
Friend Code: 3221 9111 4618

Current Headwear: Space helmet complete with a glass bubble. And a little triangluar arial thingy sticking up from the top. It's not mentioned in the FAQ I've got either. Yay me.

Can I add more than four friends to my friends roster and if so, how?

*Neme-sis was created to provide extra space for storing the lovely gyroids, but I am a bit scared of her now. She has eeevil eyes and I think she is Not Very Nice. I don't wake her up very much. I thought about deleting her but I need her cupboard space.

Another trick for storage space, Lula, is to put stuff into letters that you've been sent and then depositing them in storage at the post office. There's tons of slots there.

Also, when you get extra rooms added to your house, each one of them will have their own cupboard space.

In other news: Wheeee! I got some peaches from Bryan, one of which held and has come into fruit today. I also just recieved a single apple in one of the "Love, Mom" letters. I've planted it and I'll find out tomorrow if it's going to grow or not.

Suedey! SHOT FOR MEAT!
15:50 / 28.04.06
Oh, Lordy...

I finally got my DS back and my town is looking mighty run down. I'm not sure I even dare play this anymore. So many people have left... nobody is happy with me... Seriously, the whole place is covered in weeds and... and... oh man!

It's like life all over again!

I'll bring flowers!

Seconded. Or maybe thirded, dependent on grammar.

My talking of this game seems to have convinced a friend of mine to go out and buy a DS and AC; but I fear he's not entirely into the spirit of things yet... Also, alas, in fruit terms, he only has cherries, too...

Ring the bells! Open the gates!

Who wishes a soujourn into the heart of wonderful Pondlton?

I'm collecting the exotic series now. If anyone can get their hands on......

Exotic Chair
Exotic Chest
Exotic Table (NOT end table)
Exotic Bed
Exotic Wall

....then that would be lovely.

Also, stop hiding. Come out and play.

Just checked Nook's now that you've gone.

Don't have the sofa, but I can get you the classic bookcase, bed or table if you need them.

semioticrobotic
01:37 / 29.04.06
Hm, I might need that bookcase.

Of the classic series items, I need:

Classic chair
Classic sofa
Classic vanity

And that should be it!

In terms of the exotic series, I think I only have access to the rug. Sorry!

Grr. A friend also has this, and I've just managed to visit his town - but he can't, for some reason, get to mine. Which is irksome.

I'm around for a while, anyways, if anyone else is.
