ok, I'm not going to get anything done here, and I think I'm just annoying everyone else in lateshift. Sorry. I'll go home now, and read my stupid math books. :-(

I'm pretty sure everyone went asleepy.

TRIPLETS TO ENGINEERING: INVERT SHIFTS! THIS IS EARLY SHIAFT, MOTHERFUCKERS!

It's 8:23am here, what's everyone up to?

It´s 09:50 AM here, and I´m just about ready for breakfast (only my stomach is still undecided).

Give in to the greasy bacon side. Search your rumblings! You know it to be true!

How's it going, M? In work?

I've got a turkey salad sub waiting in the office fridge. Come. To. Triplets.

I didn't go sleepy. I just got caught up in arsekicking.

Ah, the joy of work. Time to eschew diet for pizza and beer, methinks. It's been a raw bollock of a day.

No, I´m at home right now.

UUrgh! I already told that story somewhere around here:
I visited London last year, and ordered chicken for breakfast (which already was exotic enough for me). Instead I got burnt bacon and scrambled eggs and I believe some bulging intestines drowning in grease. *still horrified*

I've got a turkey salad sub waiting in the office fridge.

Office fridges! The stories I could tell you!

Half way through a cheese and onion pastie. Waiting to go to a meeting at 10 where my brain will be required to do callisthenics, so the pastie's fuel for that.

i'm still awake.
about to go to work.
its deadline season, innit.

can't be arsed, really.
i'd much rather bed and a book.
or possibly bonk.

anything to hide from the data and the code it rode in on.

It´s really nice, how you word your dislike for work in poetry. Reminds me of the haikus the guy in Fight Club wrote and sent to his coworkers.

For the last years I realized that "society" more and more expects us to work harder and earn and enjoy ourselves less and that to be a good citizen means simply to work, consume and procreate. It´s really alientating to me.

Yes. Got paid fourteen hundred quid yesterday. In a minute I'm off to pay the last of my bills and rent, which will leave me about two hundred for the rest of the month.

When the council tax catches up with me, I'm fucked.

It's great, isn't it? You get to buy stuff _and_ have sex. ROCK!

Not to be an ass, but 200 pounds for three days sounds good to me!? Or do you mean, you need the money for october, too?

Well, as (I assume) he's not getting paid til the end of October...

That sucks! I get my pay ahead of the month (29 sep for oct, for example).

08:36 / 28.09.05
But that would mean you'd get paid at the end of one month and then have to live on that until the end of the next month, when you get paid again, yes? So you have exaclty the same payment pattern...

I'm at work and have done nothing apart from browse the net. Which is what I do every day. There was an article in the Times yesterday (here) about jobs where it makes no difference if you try or not. It was horribly familiar. I need a new job.

I'm out of money just before the end of the month, which seems almost good planning until I remember I get paid on the 12th.

I neither consume nor procreate, fneur. My sole contribution to society is fifty hours of pointless work a week, I feel like a failing capitalist. Where's Von Mises when you really need him? In some chalet with an Austrian supermodel I bet.

OY! VON MISES! WHAT'S THE ANSWER TO THE DEBT ECONOMY? ah wait, I am luckily FREE to incur debt as the BENEFIT of a CAPITALIST economy, silly me.

Yes. It just "feels" nice to know, you get money for work, that you haven´t even done yet.

And there´s always the possibility that the employer changes the "pay pattern". They´ve done it before with other workers:
Normally, you get your pay at the 15th. But the employer had money problems and changed it for these people, so that now they get their pay at the end of the month. For many of them that was a really difficult two weeks.

And since my employer always has money problems, there´s the damokles sword possibility of them using this method on people like me, who get their pay in advance.

From that article linked-
As the Gallup consultant and author Marcus Buckingham says: “Find out what you don’t like doing and stop doing it."
I don't like working, shall I stop?

Fneur- It's that noise you make partly through your nose, like a sigh you can't be bothered to finish. The auditory equivalent of the phrase 'slough of despond', onomatopoeiacally spelt. Badly.

Aha, thanks!

For some reason, I associate that sound with 24´s Chloe O'Brian.

Who was Peter Purves again? I got the seaon 3 DVDs here and could look it up for you. *doesn´t have anything else to do right now*

They´re cheating. Every episode is about 40 minutes tops.

The novelty is JB is on cold turkey while he´s doing all his business and they show him weeping!

Does he shave his entire body to show how on-mission he is? I loved that bit.

I want to film a British equivalent of 24, which imparts the dynamics and tension of the US series to a Sun Hill-style police station. There will be a flash-heating device that can make a lovely steaming hot cup of tea in ONE SECOND, and a high-powered fan that takes fifteen more seconds to cool it to a nice, drinkable temperature.

Yes! And Gareth Keenan can be the British Jack Bauer:

"I could catch a monkey. If I was starving I could. I'd make poison darts out of the poison of the deadly frogs. One milligram of that poison can kill a monkey. Or a man. Prick yourself and you'd be dead within a day. Or longer. Different frogs, different times."
