Has pro-Palestine activism been tainted by anti-Semitism?
Well, I'm fairly sure of the answer to that, which is "no", and it's not a hard thing to understand, given that most of the radical left in the UK have been fighting discrimination and *real* anti-Semites for decades now. A few people on marches shouting "death to the Jews" just doesn't cut it as evidence of a taint, given that, y'know, anyone can attend a march, and I can tell you what sort of reception anyone trying that would get from any of the "far left" folk I know. And a "sniff" is not evidence either, because sniffs work differently depending on the nose and what it would like to smell.
But if there's some evidence of which I am unaware, rather than the smear stuff that goes around the net and is favoured by smug US right-wing dinner-party pseudo-intellectual publications and sites who love to paint all politically incorrect opposition to Israeli policy as anti-Semitic, by all means post it. |
